The NEW Cingular?

Still researching 'my' new provider. 😁

Came across this link: http://www.thenewcingular.com/

Is this what they are going to call the company after the acquisition? The New Cingular?

900/1800/1900

Have a phone that I bought in Asia, tri-band. I currently have ATT, but am concerned that after the merger goes through that Cingular might drop the 1900 band. Any truth to this?

Nokia 6230

I am currently a Verizon subscriber who is thinking of switching to Cingular since I would like to get a "World" phone as I plan to do a lot of traveling. I wanted to know how these phones work overseas. It seems that airtime is expensive overseas but I have heard that you could purchase a card with minutes on it while you are in another country and just plug that in - Is that correct?

1,000 Anytime Minutes

I've been seeing the TV ads that Cingular is running for $39.99 and up plans with 1,000 anytime minutes.

They told me it does NOT apply to Family Talk lines. I'm still in my 15-day trial period.

If I didn't have Family Talk, would they have re-rated my plan if I asked?

How far into a contract do you have to be before they will allow such changes?

Car/Rapid Charger Question

I received a free Cingular-branded car charger with my SE T637. When you have it plugged into the car, the Cingular logo lights up orange.

I did not receive any instructions with this 'free' charger.

I cannot find anything in my phone guide either.

Can anyone tell me how long I should allow the phone to be on the car charger?
(My old Nokia was no longer than 2 hours.)

Thanks in advance. 🙂

[I posted already in the T637 phone forum, but no response yet.]

Cingular XBM

Went to local cingular repair location, closed XBM 800 listed on door.

Called 800 to inquire about return. Is XBM policy outlined anywhere on web? Agent went through terms and conditions so fast I'm not sure what I agreed to! Or what I possible could be billed for If they deem phone "out of Waranty"

Should I stay or should I go?

I've got a dilemma here and would appreciate some other points of view.

I've been a Cingular wireless customer since well before they were Cingular. My current contract from my purchase of a Motorola T720 expires within the next couple of weeks, and I'm looking at general upgrades. The one feature I've been wanting to test out, use, etc is Bluetooth. I recently bought the Motorola Bluetooth adapter and was highly dismayed over its ability to function as little more than a cable substitute (I don't know why I was thinking it would be any more than that, but I did).

Overall, I've been very highly satisfied with Motorola phones and of the current crop, none of the Motos have the technology, save the V600 which has effectively been dropped...

Best phone in low RF areas???

Know there are several knowledgeabl;e CSR on this board. Perhaps some RF folks too.

My family just updated to the GSM service here in the DC area. 850mhz as you know. However, the service is much poorer than the TDMA with Nokia 5165 series phones.

Of the current phones, which have the best RF performance? Just need reliable voice service.
Thanks

Cingular store in Kingston NY

I see signs for a Cingular store opening in Kingston NY, but when I put in that zip code on the website (12401) it tells me it's not part of Cingular's coverage area.

Is Cingular planning on comming into the Ulster/Dutchess County NY area?

what cingular does not want me to say part 2 BIG PTT NEWS

I think people misunderstood part one. I like my job it is very funny. The truth is push to talk is in place and ready. But cingular is very gun shy about launching push to talk. The want to make sure the platform is perfect. The do not want to launch a product that does not work and damages the companies reputation. Cingular invented rollover mintues but launched it before testing it properly and the results were not very good. There were a lot of rollover mintues not being applied and customer care working overtime to smooth things over.
Push to talk will be available in January 2005. And it will be as good as nextel and it will be worldwide.

Mobile-to-mobile minutes

I have a friend on Cingular, and she had to get a new contract a few months ago because a Family Talk phone got broken.

She said her plan (Family Talk, the $59.99 one) doesn't have unlimited mobile-to-mobile minutes.

The handout brochure I got from the store back in Feb., and last week, show unlimited m-t-m on ALL plans. Also, shows that online.
I thought we would be able to talk unlimited to each other. 😕

She has been having a LOT of trouble getting the costs ironed out with her new contract.

Is it possible that it's just a Cingular oversight since she has had other problems with the costs? She's been with Cingular for quite a while.

Seeking advice on choosing a carrier for Metro NY

I'm looking to sign up with a carrier. I live and work in the New York City metropolitan area. 99% of calls will be made in and around the 5 boroughs of NYC, Long Island, Westchester and New Jersey. I'm currently with ATT; my wife is now with Verizon. We intend to go with a family plan. We don't need the best phones, but want good quality. My wife wants a camera phone.

Which carrier should we go with? We went to dealers today at ATT, Verizon and Cingular. Cingular seems to have the best deal, and Verizon seems to have the worst deal. For $70/month: 850 anytime rollover minutes on a nationwide basis; unlimited free mobile to mobile (I assume this includes both Cingular and ATT, once the merger goes through); Unlimited nights after...

Activation date?

I ordered via phone through SBC and was told my 'activation date' (start of service) would begin on the DAY I called the phones 'in' (to agree to terms of agreement).

NOW I find that the 'activation date' is the DAY I placed the order! The phones didn't arrive until 4 days later, then I took another 2 days to sort through all the paperwork.

I found this info buried in the welcome kit; and confirmed with Cingular that the activation date is the day you order service--I can understand that in the store when you get the phones and service immediately--but when ordering through the mail? Give me a break!

So I am being told that if I want to exchange my phones or cancel service within the 15-day trial period, I have to start counting...

Rebate form discrepancies

I ordered through SBC to get a Total Connections discount.

First, they offered free phones, then shipped a substitute (free was discontinued model).

Now the Cingular rebate form in my welcome kit has terms on the back stating the phone rebate is NOT for any family talk phones!

The Cingular rebate form on Cingular's site doesn't state that and just says up to 5 can get the rebate.

I've talked to SBC and several people at Cingular and no one can agree on how I will get a rebate for each phone as promised!

Suggestions? Send in both rebate forms (different PO boxes)?
