If I bring my own phone...

let's say I get a G1 or BB8220 on an auction site. I have a [dreadful] W490 with the $4.99 text msg pkg. If I move my sim to the new G1 or BB, will texting continue to work on the $4.99 pkg w/o getting the $25 data pkg? Also, will I be able to surf the web via wi-fi w/o data pkg? Thanx-

Roaming from tmobile

Taken from their website at:
http://search.t-mobile.com/inquiraapp/ui.jsp?ui_mode ... »

What is Roaming?
Roaming is a feature that allows T-Mobile customers to use their GSM phone outside of their home service area.

See that outside of their home area?

Internet plan w/ unlocked smartphone

I'm a little confused regarding TMo's internet plans -- if I get an unlocked smartphone (likely some member of the Nokia Nseries family) do I sign up for the "smartphone" or just the plain ol' internet plan they list on their site? I realize I may still have to enter settings and such since it is not a TMo-native phone, but just want to make sure I'm looking at the right plan.

G-1.....T-mobile reps please help

Hi,
I work for at&t so I figured I would ask those who would know instead of trying to figure it out and possible messing something up.
I have a friend who recently upgraded to a G-1. In the last couple of weeks he has found that his email doesn't always come onto his phone and he hasn't been receiving any of the mms messages that I sent to him. I don't know if it is any mms or just from me. I know nothing about this phone so I don't know if it has to have mms sent as an email (like the iPhone) or if his phone just has problems.
Is this a common issue on the phone or does he just have bad phone luck? He has both messaging and internet on his account, I just don't know what would cause these problems.

Any help or suggestions are appreci...

When is T-Mo Coming To My Town!?

So I realize the answer to this question is most likely "Never" but I currently have US Cellular, and although I love their service, I am a little bored with their phone selection. I love the idea of having a Fave 5 and you all have such a good phone selection for the younger generation, like the G1, Sidekicks, Sony 506, Dash, Razr 2, Shadow, and Blackberry Pearl Flip. I have a friend who drove an hour and a half away to subscribe to TMo with a Sidekick and it worked flawlessly off the Cellular One towers here but when CellOne transitioned to ATT, the arrangement supposedly stopped working. ☚ī¸ But anyway, T-Mo is too city/suburb oriented!!! Why not move a little bit further out into the mountains? lol. So will T-Mo ever come to my town. ...

I need a suggestion

I called T-Mobile and upgraded to the Sony Ericsson TM506. It just arrived in the mail today and I'm really excited. The problem is, when I opened the package, the box had clearly been torn and opened. I checked and everything that's supposed to be in the box is indeed there. Phone, battery, headset, charger, and all paperwork. I'm just concerned since I've heard horror stories about fake batteries and flawed phones sold as new.

I'm wondering if I should immediately return it or try it out and see if anything is wrong. Does anybody know what I should do? Thanks.

Blackberry Pearl or Blackberry Pearl Flip?

Right now I am currently not a T-Mobile customer, but if they were to ever come to my area I would probably end up becoming one. But that's beside the point... most carriers will have both of these phones in the coming months and I thought it best to post my question here as T-Mobile is the only company right now that offers both and I'm sure some people on here have one or the other. So here goes...

Am I really the only one that thinks the Blackberry Pearl 81xx series (including the 8100 as well as the slightly different 8110 and 8120) looks a lot cooler than the Blackberry Pearl Flip's styling. Now, mind you I haven't actually seen the Flip in real life but have seen countless images and videos and have not really found one that has ...

I have unlimited messaging but am being charged for messages...help

Okay so I work for AT&T customer care but i know nothing about T-mobile.

I have unlimited messaging and when I text Twitter updates or receive any I am am being charge pay per use. Twitter is a free service that sends out updates about what you or your friends are doing. It does use a short code though.

Now when I receive messages from anybody else, I am not charged.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks for the help and info in advance.

Thinking of upgrading: Torn between the G1 and the new BB Curve 8900

Okay, I'm eligible for the upgrade as of now. I'm debating between the one or the other.
On the one hand I absolutely love the way the new Curve looks, and the battery life is much better I'm hearing than that of the G1...

On the other hand, I'd be using the internet alot, mainly certain specific websites that offer mp3 downloads of their weekly internet shows. Can the Curve do that, like download files around the 40-80MB size range? Or should I go with the G1?

What it boils down to is this: BB Curve looks nicer and has better battery power, but the G1 is more internet-capable but is a little more big and ugly looking (like my cousin Leroy) 😁

Switching to T-Mobile?

I'm a loyal AT&T customer, but I've gotten frustrated with them due to upgrade issues and am considering moving to T-Mobile.

Anything you would tell me to consider or reconsider before making the move?

New T-Mo User

Well I joined the T-Mo flock last friday. I picked up a quad band SE C902 off of ebay and I also picked up new SE TM506 and a Nokia 5610.

How are the TM506 and the 5610? I'm thinking about exchanging the the SE for the Nokia because feature wise the Nokia is better, but the SE has 3g.

Is T-Mo's 3g coverage for voice and data or just data?

Question

I was looking at the different internet options on the T-mobile website.

They have listed Blackberry, G1, Smartphone and other phone.

Is other phone an unlocked phone? or a T-mobile phone that is not either BB, G1 or Smartphone?

I have a Nokia E71 and I am running the Smartphone unlimited internet. I looked at the phone log regarding my MB usage the other day and I am not using as much as I would like to.

So, does anyone know if my phone will work on the "other phone" internet plan? The 100MB a month limit seems enough for me.

Thank you!

Behold vs BB 8900

What are the major differences between these two phones? I understand the basic differences like touch screen vs key pad, 5MP vs 3MP camera etc. I went through the comparison chart and could not understand certain features.

1) GPS - Both phones have GPS capabilities. Does that mean if i sign up for their data plan i can use it as GPS device for driving directions?
2) WIFI - 8900 has WIFI but behold does not. Both phones more or less require a data plan and in that case how does a WIFI differ?
3) Is 8900 a 3G phone? Is there any difference between the web browsing capabilities of 8900 and Behold?
4) The comparison lists Behold as not capable of data, but at the same time likes it is capable of packet data. I am confused by those two dif...

Behold with out a data plan

All,

I was wondering if you guys can help me out.

1) My wife loves the behold and is content with voice and text. Is there any way you can get a Behold with out getting a data plan?
2) Is there any way you can get a Behold or a BB Curve with a cheaper data plan like the 50MB data + 400 msgs for $10 bucks.
3) If you can not get Behold, is there any other phone that is of better quality and looks than Behold that does not require a data plan?

Please do not say buy the phone at full price and you dont have to pay for the data plan or something like that. I am hoping i would not have to pay more than 50-100 bucks for the phone after discounts and MIR.
