Sprint/Nextel

Will Srpint and Nextel eventually merge their technologies? Or will they operate two brands of wireless under the same parent company? Thanks,

Teesh

Potentially dumb question

Okay, I am considering switching to iDEN because I am somewhat fed up of GSM, and I've got a dumb question on my mind. Is chirping only mobile to mobile, or can it also be used to contact someone with a landline? I prefer asking here than asking the arrogant asses that Telus Mobility are.

When are the IDEN-CDMA hybrid phones coming?

Shopping around for a service provider. Didn't really take Sprint-Nextel too seriously cus I knew their networks used two different incompatible technologies. So like thats not really a coverage improvement, right?

But then i heard that Motorola was going to make some hybrid iDEN-CDMA phones that would allow you to use the coverage from both networks. That true? And if so, when do those phones show up?

And I was only joking back then....

Wow. When Cingular bought ATTWS, I said "Wow, now its on". Of course we all knew the CIngular-Verizon dual would start, but I thought Sprint and Nextel would just fade away into misery. Who would have thought that Sprint and Nextel would join into some disastrous partnership and go down into misery together???!!! What a disaster, good luck folks. I cant even begin to tell you how many ports over from Sprint or Nextel we (Cingular) have had since your merger/acquistion was announced. Good Luck.

Just demoed the new Cingular PTT and...

it sucks!!!

7 seconds maximum to connect? 🙄 Try 8-10 seconds each time. I had the two LG sliders next to me and tried to do it several times. Never did it get it in 7 seconds or less with average signal. I will admit, though, that once connected it works pretty fast. But then again, if you anything about the Kodiak system it's supposed to.

What Kodiak does is use a voice channel. Cingular's PTT is basically making a phone call, but limiting who can talk when by the push of the button. Essentially Cingular is still playing catchup with Nextel, ReadyLink, and Verizon's PTT. And since it's a voice channel, forget any data based enhancements to the system later on like QChat will do.

Basically, just move on. 😉

Sprint.....together with nextel

Is it me or does this new slogan sound as if sprint and nextel's merger was only allowed in the state of Massachusetts.

Is it me?

Or is the Nat'l Team share Plans from Nextel useless? I mean, purposeless. Help me out, I have two phones on one account: (1) 300 inc free $49.99 & (1) 1000 anytime $55.99...
Both above plans offer unl DC, now why would I want to go with (2) 600 Team Share at $49.99 each with only combined DC of 500 min?

Nextel18, we appreciate your "knowledgeable" views . As I watch from afar, most all information that you provide is incorrect or vague at best. If you have any new insight that could prove valuable to the consumers or even your fellow "insiders" feel free to contribute the cause that all you have done is pollute.

sry 1 more ?

i was looking at nextel family plans and all i see is the team share plans but they dont have unlimited direct connect...does nextel have a family plan w/ direct connect? i know u can add unlimited direct connect for $10 a phone but that seems extremely costly.
