Motorola V710

make offer if anybody is interested!!

This is gonna keep me up at night wondering just what it does...

Grab ye olde v710 and pop the battery cover off and pull up the antenna, down at the bottom of the black tube (and hidden from rear-view by an extrusion on the case) from the side and look at the little switch that the antenna pushes when it is in the retracted position...


Any level 3 techs out there have any ideas/the answer? Bored kiosk employees are just dying (well, not dying but it can get pretty boring here, waving to the girl in the AT&T kiosk (who is disturbingly lonely since we moved in)) to know what this switch does...

Anyone ever try this? I'm thinking this may play your mp3s in stereo as well as have a fm radio. I heard that the motorola fm radio headset will not play your mp3's in stereo. Never heard of Coby, but I guess its worth a shot

ive been considering a v710 purchase for sometime now, but there are a couple of issues on my mind.
is there a way to change the outer display's background?? no offense, but when i saw how fruity those were in the store...
has anyone's keypad fallen off yet? ive been to 2 vzw srores and both have a keypad that's falling off...
also, can anyone post some pictures they took with their v710?

thinking about the 800. is it really worth the money? what is the chance of using it as a car phone rather than getting the car kit? can you listen to mp3's through it? any help is appreciated. 😁

can you actually transfer games and other applications from cd to your phone?

In PST, the T720 used M-Service back up files for ringers and paper. What type of file does the 710 have?(im in PST 7.0.4)

3 things:

Low batter beep - this phone emits the most obnoxious beep for a low batter warning, even if the phone is in silent mode. What were they thinking?

Headset is worthless except for outgoing calls or unless I feel like hanging it from my ear all day long. This phone can't ring when connected to the headset. The ring is a beep that can only be heard through the headset, so when you want to take the headset off, you must drop the connection between the headset and the phone. Garbage.

MP3 player. I'm sure it's crap, so I haven't even bought headphones for it. BUT, when playing in speaker mode it only plays when the phone is open. I'd hope that if I plugged in headphones that I could close the phone and put it in my pocket,...

I just got the phone on friday night and I have been emailing wallpapers and ringtones to my phone. Starting yesterday I haven't been able to receive any messages. I email them to myself but I never get a message on my phone. Has anyone else had this problem?

I found another bug.
If you set your phonebook to "Voice" (in personal settings under sound setting) you can scroll thru the phone book and it reads the names back using the voice recognition voice (this is a cool feature). this works fine if you are using the directional button to scroll but if you press a keypad to jump to a specific letter in the phonebook then all of the sounds in the ENTIRE phone turn off. At this point your only option is to power off and power on again to reset!!

first off, I am very happy with my v710. with that being said, I think i came across a possible bug:

over the weekend, my ringer seemed to changed (on its own) im not sure how, but I know I didnt set certain ringers that went off when people called. I then went to my phonebook to see if I had ringer IDs set for these people that called, and it said NONE(as I suspected)...so when I went to see what ringer was on in the settings, it was some weird random one that I definitly didnt set. anyone else come across this problem?? possibly, one of my friends was playing around with it and changed it? but I dont think so, I am pretty sure I had the phone on me the whole time.

I have heard that the 720 desktop charger will work with the 710 but the spare battery charge slot will NOT accommodate a 710 spare. I have also read posts that indicate an anticipated desktop charger for charging the 710. Anyone heard anything new about this or a way to charge batteries seperate from the phone? I want a second battery as a spare but cannot see the value if I cannot charge it seperate from the phone.

I pretty much leave my Jabra BT200 in the car, so I was wondering if leaving the bluetooth on all the time significantly impacts the battery time?

I know it has some drain keeping the BT radio on ... but if it is minimal I don't care.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Many have posted that file names must not be "too" long or the phone has difficulty. Has anyone figured out how many characters in length a file name can be before it gets too long?

I have a usb cord with the block type converter thingy in the middle and I havn't been able to use it for anything. Anyone get this cord to work with their phone?

well it finally came in, and i dont even use the v710 anymore, man when i sell it ill have all 3! speaker,both ear pieces, 128mb transflash, verizon swival case,usb data cable, man i should get a pretty penny for all of those!!!

I know that you can put Mp3's on the V710 using a TF card. But I also heard that you can put MP3s onto the phone by changing the .mp3 to .mid and sending them as an attachment to [email protected]. Is there any truth to this? This would be nice if it is true because it would save me some money initially from having to buy a TF card.
