Motorola V710

Has anyone else experiencing problems getting their battery to hold a charge.

I exchanged my first phone because I was getting no more than 90 mins of talk time.

My new phone is doing no better.

Has anyone sussed this out? Or do you have any suggestions?

The Verizon manager supported what the manual says which is that the battery needs no special charge protocol at the start (12 hours on charge then allow it to totally run out, etc).

However the Moto site does suggest this, altho' it's linked to an earlier model.

The rub is that I went through this protocol on my second phone and it's doing no beetter than 90 minutes of talk -- and that's without tapping into any other functionalities such as videocamera.

twice in four days I was in my local VZW store and asked them to email me a picture taken from the phone.

they stated that it was sent while I waited but I have yet to receive any pics. Is there a reason it would not go to my email server. Neither of the managers were fluent with the phone but received assistance from their tech person.

I get nothing when a voicemail is left for me. The reminders are on and they don't do anything nor does the indicator on the display come on. I had a message left for me at 1:30pm on Thursday. I just happened to check messages today and found out that I had one. It was left 21 hours ago. Any ideas on how to make the indicator come on and work?

Anyone else use their calendar and have this(e-mail sent to support)

This is to report a bug in your calendar program. I am not looking for you to change this phone's functionality, just correct something the works improperly

1. go onto any day on the calendar, say sept 11
2. click new, add an appointment that starts at 9 am
3. for duration click "ALL DAY".

the result is you now have all day appointments on Sept 11 AND Sept 12.

Ok, so as a work around, you figure,
1. go into September 11
2. Do not enter a start time
3.For duration click "all day"
The good news is you only have an appointment for Sept 11.
The really bad news is when you go into "WEEK VIEW" you have absolutely nothing blocked out.

My phone will recognize my files but will not play them, i think it is because there are ACC files and not MP3. Am i right on this one? and how do i covert them?

It seems to be a way of business for a web site to say something is in stock, then when you order it, put it on back order. I have now ordered from three places like that. The latest is buy.com. My status there is Sent to Warehouse, it has been like that for two days now...not a good sign.
I wish this forum were easier to manipulate, there is no way to organize the threads that I can figure out. I did not want to start a new thread, but it was easier than finding the right thread to post on.

my v710 just crashed. completely shut down. try to reset but no good. took the battery out, put it back in, still would not turn on. plugged it in using the charger and was able to turn it on, but it keeps rebooting every 5 seconds. can't find the problem because i can't get it to stay on long enough. i will report this to verizonwireless tomorrow.
one other thing. i've had the v710 for 4 months now and found a design flaw. the buttons seem to scratch the lcd.

can someone give me a list of all the potential a 128mb transflash card has??? besides putting mp3s on the phone...

OK so I have about 25 songs on my transflash and when I go to the gym and make a playlist and then play it, it will play only about three of the songs. It will then make a clicking noise and stop playing. If I hit the right arrow it will start playing the next song. Also, if I go to the song it skips in the menu and play it individually it plays fine.

I have tried -

reformatting
Resending the mp3 files to the card
changing the selected songs and re-ordering the playlist

All mp3's are 96kbs and all have shortened names to show on the playlist. They all play fine individually.

One more strange thing

The reported size on the mmc card is 3164kb. This is not possible as I have 68mb of data on it!

Is anyone having problems with playing mp3's either directly on the transflash card or after copying them to the phone?

I've been trying to customize my ringtones, but having difficulty because when I play the mp3 the songs start skipping pretty bad. I'm using 128k bitrates and below... most being 64k because I’ve used ringtone ripper on some.

When attempting to copy my last batch, I even got an error message saying it wouldn't copy the files... and I have plenty of space left on my phone. Anyone have any suggestions on why this might be happening?

A few days ago, I wandered into a Verizon Wireless Store (Vernon Hills, IL) and asked about an extended battery for my v710. To my surprise, the sales rep said, "We don't have it in stock, but I can order one and have it shipped to you free."

Dubious, I took out my credit card. Charge was $49 and tax, no shipping.

Today, I got a huge box from Fedex, containing an extended battery (1440 mAh) and a cover in a red and black Verizon retail pack, labeled v710 XCAP BATT / DR.

It fits in my leather case, and adds a bit more than half of the existing back cover's depth to the unit.

Not available for sale on the website, or for take-home in stores, but go on in and ask. I think the part number on the label is 666509.

I in desperate need of new phone to replace my dieing Kyocera 3035. Was offered the V 710 fo $ 50.00. Went to VZ store to play with it and found the keypad falling apart, keys coming loose, chrome strip falling off. I asked salesperson how long has it been on display she said about 2 weeks. I WOULD NOT TAKE THIS PIECE OF JUNK FOR FREE. Based on what I have read here I am not alone. Guess the best bet is to wait for the Audiovox or LG. Any recommendation's?

Can they only be done within the 15 days?

Did it come with the adapter? Is this a reliable site? Thanks.

I don't know if the backlight uses LEDs or small light bulbs, but one of mine has stopped working. The result is that all the keys below the 123 row are dark.

It is very troubling that this would occur on a phone that is less than two weeks old. I will be making a trip to the Verizon store this weekend for an exchange. ☹️

I know that everyone keeps complaining about how the keypad looks and feels.

But, here are my questions:

Is there a reason that Moto decided to make the keypad like that? Do they have some kind of future plans for it?

Is this the only Moto with this type of keypad or was this the first shot at something different?

On my old phone I could access vocoder settings and the debug screen using Menu 0, but when I try Menu 0 on the v710 in says invalid entry. Anyone know how to access any of the internal settings? 😕

If the headset is misplaced or lost is it anyway that you can have another device look for it although the boom is closed. Thanks for any replies.
