Motorola V710

In Digit Dial mode, have not been able to successfully say "star" and have the phone recognize it when I have to dial "*82" to preceed a phone number (I have a blocked private cell number). So I cannot dial such phones via Digit Dial. "Star" is not a "train" the phone selection (only numbers) for Digit Dial. Anyone know how to do this? Thanks.

(note, I only saw a thread on Voice Dial and programming *611 or *86, but those are different).

THE KEY PAD LIGHT IS NOT BLUE THE COLOR SEEMS TO BE VERY POPULAR. I WOUNDER WHY MOTO USED WHITE? WHY IS IT THAT THE LIGHT FOR THE KEY PAD DOES NOT ILLUMINATE ALL THE KEYS EVENLY AND BRIGHT LIKE THE SAMSUNG 670! I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE CAMERA ON THE 710 WHEN VIEWING YOURE IMAGE ON THE SCREEN IS VERY DARK COMPARED TO THE 670. I TRIED ADJUSTING THE BRIGHTNES BUT NOTHING CHANGED. ANYBODY NOTICED THE SAME THING?

I just returned the LG7000 for the v710 and liked the Voice Record better on the 7000. It seems on the 710 you have to hold down the voice record while your recording instead of just press the voice record once to record and press it again to stop recording on the 7000. Does anyone know if you can change this on the 710?

If this can be done please tell me HOW. When I try to search for modem in the aol setup it dosen't show...

Yesterday my battery had 3 bars, but when I plugged in the charger it had 1 bar.

I know, why did you charge it when it had 3 bars? I didn't believe it.

Anybody else have this problem?

Well I've been waiting months for the V710 and I finally made it to the VZW store and was extremely dissapointed. For one, the keypad is made of that bubble, plastic fisher price material, and the send/end buttons are reversed from past Moto phones. Does anyone know the models of next generation VZW moto phones. I'm thinking about switching to ATT for the V620. Plus, the offer 7pm nights.

I wanted to point out that the voice record feature built into the v710 is severely limited: only a small fraction of the phone's internal 10mb of memory is available to store voice records.

In particular, it seems that storage space is limited to 2 minutes of voice and that this 2 minutes of space is pre-allocated in the approximately 2,700k that is "Used" even when there are no photos, videos, etc. stored in the phone. (I.e. whether you have seconds or 120 seconds of voice records stored, the "Used" memory doesn't change according to the Phone Status sub menu.)

Does anyone know if there's a way around this issue? Does anyone who has a transflash card know if adding that card allows storing more than 2 minutes of voice?

if you are using Mac OS X, there is a problem with the way the OS interacts with the card. It creates its own directories that the phone does not like.

After much playing around with the camera, I'd have to rate it not great but not terrible. Outdoor daylight pics look pretty good (especially when copied to your PC and viewed). Indoor: Set the res to medium & the light to "night" (not "auto" or "indoor")... with reasonable lighting, they're not too bad. I copy the pics from the TF64 card to a PDA with an SD slot, then synch to the PC.

Has anyone found an effective way to store videos to the transflash card so they can be played back on the phone? I converted some mpeg videos on my computer to .3g2 using quicktime 6.5 and they played on the phone but without sound.

710 has such a promising list of features but all the issues leave me hesitant and many of us depressed. A phone that forces the user to spend almost as much as the phone price for accessories just to use the features is kind of abusive too.

Verizon clearly has the best signal, coverage and comparively better CS. New phones are either problematic or other issues arise. Two years ago the Samsung a310 was the anticipated phone. I bought it from VZW day 1. Two weeks later Radio Shack was released it for 1/3 the price (with a one yr contract) from what I paid on a two yr directly from VZW. When the 720 first came out, there were many problems with that phone too.

I am having problems getting my phone to recognize the mp3's on the Transflash card, how do you all get the mp3's to play do yo just drag the songs onto the card from your computer, because for me there are multiple sub-folders. Then once on the card and in the phone, my phone freezes when I try to switch my storage device to The TF card. Any sugestions thanks

this phone is f-ing sweet, it seems everyone likes to cry about the littlest things about this phone..the keypad is slippery?!?! come on, that's a stretch, and since when do you need high performace aqua tred to make a phone call? the other gripes are pretty lame as well..the camera sucks, earpiece in the wrong place, send/receive reversed!?!?! the camera is awesome for a PHONE! the earpiece is fine if you actually MOVE IT to your ear and the send/receive reversed!??!! seriously, if you can't figure that one out you need a helmet not a cell phone b/c you are a RETARD!

Yes, I did say the camera cover came off my v710. The silver ring around the camera for some reason just dropped off. Thank God it fell on my home office desk, or I might have never found it. I haven't even owned this phone for a week and for this to happen has me qustioning their quality control. C'mon Moto 😡 you gotta do better.

I love the phone and will exchange it for a new one but this will be it if it has issues as well.

Does anyone know if the V710 will work via bluetooth and Quicklink Mobile software on a Mac Powerbook G4 17 to connect to the internet on Verizon's Express Network?
I've asked the Verizon salespeople and of course they say, "Oh yes, it all works." But my experience shows they don't know too much about Mac's 😕

When I put the card in the phone, it recognizes the card and it works fine. When I try to connect it to the computer, it seems to work fine until I try to save things to the card. An error message comes up tellimg me that the card is Write-Protected.

Am I doing anything wrong?

Can someone provide me with some kind of step-by-step guide??

I received my v710 last Friday and while I really like the phone and it's features it seems as if the voice quality, on both ends of a call, are not up to the level of my current carrier Sprint.

When listening to someone speak it sounds as if the first part of their sentence is clipped somewhat. I've also noticed some warbling. People listening to me say my voice sounds likes it's in a tunnel or bucket.

Is this a problem with the v710 or Verizon's service? Is there some setting on the phone that I need to change? Is mediocre voice quality standard for Verizon?

Signal strength has been great but the voice quality doesn't match Sprint. They're both CDMA but is there a difference in how CDMA is implemented?
