updated keypad

I was just ordering parts for stock in my shop tonight and noticed that the keypad part number has changed since the phone's release.

I don't know what the change is, but I am ordering them.

And btw, the reason the v710 keypads in the verizon store look screwy is the way the mount them in those stupid theft proof mounts. I took a close look myself and just shook my head... 🙄

I have 3 of these phones in service myself, each doing 100+ minutes a day. We have sold over 30 of them in the past 2 days to all NYC heavy hitters that love the phone. I have not had any issues with mine at all. (the engineering sample was another story 😳 ).

On the money/feature scale, this phone tops all you can find on anyone's CDMA network...

Verizon Phone Isurance?

Is anyone familiar with the insurance/service plan that VZW offers for $4.99/month? Do they really stand by replacing the phone? Is ist worth it? Any advice/experiences are appreciated? Thank You.

MP3 ringers 96 vs 128 vs 160 vs 192 kbps?

I haven't gotten a Transflash yet and can only send myself 96 kbps files as of now.

For those of you w/ Transflash cards, do you notice any difference when encoding your MP3 ringers at the different higher quality kbps like 192 vs say 96?

Do the ringers lose quality when going through the VZWPIX site as an attachment to the phone?

I thought I read a post saying they definatly sounded better when going from your computer to the T-flash card to the phone directly...Any opinions?

Thanks in advance for any input...

Firmware update?!

Hello everyone,

I too just got my V710. Overall I'm very happy with it, except for the usual:

1) Handicapped Bluetooth
2) Crappy camera, for a so called 1.2 Mega-pixel

#2, I can deal with, since it is a phone after all. However #1, I'm not sure I can deal with, since the main reason I got the phone, was to be able to use BT to transfer files between the phone and PC, synchronize it, etc...

I contacted Verizon about this, and asked if they were indeed planning to come out with a new firmware that would add more functionality. They gave me a "standard" answer, saying that not at this time, and we cannot say anything about time-frames, etc...

In short my question wasn't answered at all.

Someone, in this forum, said that a ...

Dock and Talk

Has any one tried this yet. I saw great reviews on it and I called and talked to them and I decided to try it. If it works as good as they say then I will say goodbye to my landline.

Hello gang, A new Moto v710 user in Delaware! :)

Hello Gang,

I just picked up my Moto V710 from my local VZW store here in Delaware. I have been following this forum for quite some time and found the forum to be informative as well as interesting. I have a question regarding the V710's external display. Is there a way to set the display to stay on rather than blanking out? I like the idea of seeing the external clock rather than opening up the flip just to check the time (if I don't happen to have my watch on.) I am just coming off of a Moto T720. I started to follow this forum around January, when I started to look for a replacement for my T720. My 710 is one of the best phones I have had so far. Any input as to how to set the external display on all the time would be greatly a...

Programming Menu

Highly Programmable - As with most Motorola phones, there is a lot of room to hack settings. The v710 has a secret programming menu (accessible via Menu + 0 + 73887 + *) allowing you to tweak many settings and even enter test mode, which provides - among other things - some GPS diagnostics. If you happen to have a copy of the Motorola PST, you can do a lot of serious programming on the phone.

How do you get inot this? DO you actually press Menu then 0 then 73887 then *? That didn't work. Any ideas?

Mac vs. the Transflash

So upon recieving my transflash in the mail today I inserted it into my phone (powered on, no issue presented itself). Changed my storage directories to my mmc card. Put the card into the new SanDisk 8in1 and put an mp3 into the shared/audio folder. Back in my phone (powered on), selecting "sounds" icon results in a sort of non-reaction/freeze. Nothing happens but I can't move the cursor around and the quick animation of the music note occures intermitently. If I press the end call button the phone goes back to the main menu. I have read the faq on transflash cards and tried everything that way with the same results. On a strange note, powering off the phone with the flash in sometimes results in a freezing of the goodbye image of the flower...

WAP question

All I really need internet for is to check sports scores. Does the internet service that Verizon provides have a site that updates scores for you live? Or is there a good free WAP site to use? I'm very new at this so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Contact addresses

In the phonebook, I see a place to put phone numbers and email addresss, but what about street addresses? Is there software you can get from maybe Get it Now for that, or am I just missing something?

Thx,

HANG-UP CUP???

Has anyone come across a good hang-up cup for the V710? The "Car Kit with Bluetooth Wireless Technology" accessory on the Moto website does not have a hang-up cup and the "Hands-Free Kit" on the VZW website utilizes a hang-up cup, but I don't need the functionality of (and hence want to spent the $$$ for) the kit b/c my vehicle already has Bluetooth built in to the Nav Sys. I see that VZW sells the "Hang-up Cup" separately for $50, but the problem here is that a wire that needs to be plugged into the "Hands-Free Kit" to supply power to (charge) the phone. What I need is a solid cradle fitted to the V710 that can also charge the phone while loaded while it is loaded. Suggestions anyone? Thanks.

yet another camera question/complaint- little ambient lines on screen

so i know the quality of the camera is known to be terrible- when i look through at the screen prior to capture there are little moving lines (almost like interference) that make the pictures come out terribly. i am going to try it outside tomorrow to see if there is any improvement but it sounds like the camera sucks all around.

i am beginning to wonder why i didn't get the samsung a670 for free instead of paying $150 for this one...
