Motorola V710

Just bought my phone and the USB cable to sync my Mac address book. The sync worked perfectly but after looking thru my phone book i realized that the phone created an entry for each phone number in my address book. i then tried adding a new entry from scratch. when you ad a second phone number to an existing entry it creates another entry witht same name and different number!!!

I thought this phone had multiple numbers per name?

this phone book is the same as my timeport 720c which is multiple numbers with the same name!!!
this creates a phone book that is extremely bloated with lists of the same name appearing on the screen that you constantly scroll thru.

am i doing something wrong?

I emailed myself a mid file I have on my computer this worked flawlessly! I was able to set it as a ringtone and everything. However in trying to send myself a second one, only 36k, I never received the msg, I kept trying and still nothing! Any ideas?

I've been following the threads and many are recommending purchase of USB w/PhoneTools and the TrasnFlash for PC Sync & file (pics, MP3s, etc.) transfers.

As the phone is NOW, I see these accessories are the only way top accomplish these tasks. HOWEVER, no one has completely addressed the issue: IF (notice big IF) vzw updates the BT to full function - will this do full PC Sync and full file transfer? Will there be limitations that the USB (w/PT) and TF will still be needed?

In other words, what are the chances that if we wait for any BT upgrade (2 weeks?) that we can save the money from TF and USB purchases?

If we buy TF $30+, reader/writer $30+, USB (w/PT) $30+ = $90+ (plus tax and/or shipping) = over $100

Who liked Baldur's Gate for the PC? If you're a fan like myself, you might be curious about Sorrent's upcoming mobile version of the game. I contacted Verizon about the availability of the game but they said it was completely up to Sorrent to make a version compatible with the V710. So...I emailed Sorrent with a request. On the left is signal strength, right is battery strength those are the obvious ones. I assume the bell is that there is an alarm or calendar event set. What about that thing that looks like a cross in a circle - is that gps? and 1x? Any other symbold?

Does anyone know how to get games and such on your phone without having to use GIN?

I recently noticed about 11 very distinct and symetrical scratches/marks on the screen of my v710. They are most distinct when the backlight on the screen is off. I have come to the conclusion that they are from the keys(because they are in the same location as the keys). Does anyone else have this problem? What do you think Verizon will do about it?

I have the first confirming e-mail for registration but I did not receive anything else. Is there something wrong??? who do I talk to... Anyone else have this problem>>>

Alright, so all of this technology is completely new to me because I hadn't upgraded my phone for 4 years, so bear with me 😉 . I just ordered a 128 MB Transflash card from Amazon the other day and am trying to figure out which additional products I will need to purchase. From what I have been able to piece together, in order to use the transflash card between computer (PC for me) and the V710, you need to have a USB SD Card Reader. From what I understand, purchasing the transflash card withough a card reader seems worthless. Is this a correct assessment? Is the Card Reader absolutely neccessary for complete functionability? Are there any other products that must be ordered for the transflash card to operate properly?Thanks...

OK i think this may be a new bug, has anyone encountered a problem where the caller id displays the name of the person calling twice? Example "john's cell, john's cell" and not playing the custom ring-tone set for that person?

When I press the button to activate the speaker phone feature the back light for the keypad goes out. I assume this is a defect and will be taking the phone back to Verizon but I am wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem.

I want to buy a transflash card with everything so I can have the mp3 on it and pics and whatever else. I found this site and wondered if it is everything I need or is there something that is missing. Do I just plug it in my computer usb thing and it work or do I need something else.

my sanyo vm4500 with sprint had a setting for disconnect the wireless feature called airplane mode at that point american airlines would allow the phone to be left on for games etc. does the v710 have this feature?

Ok - I can understand why several of the "voice commands" are extremely helpful - but others seem to be totally useless.

for instance... when I first saw "CAMERA" was a voice command - I thought "COOL!!!! you can your phone on speakerphone.... place it across the room- and then say out loud: "CAMERA" and take a picture of yourself (and hopefully your hot date) - almost like an "auto-timer"" But - NO .... you can't do that.

You can turn ON the camera... but then you have to hit the "Capture" button manually - right? so - what's the point?
Why would you turn on the camera with a voice command if you're not going to be able to use it remotely?
