Motorola V710

ok , this is my first post, and i have been reading intently since i started watching this board (25 pages ago!-great job guys!)
i just got off the phone with verizon to check some account info, and i mentioned the 710- the rep seemed to know the phone i was talking about, so i guess the word is spreading. BUT, he said he thougt he saw it in thier "whats new section" and that the relaease was for aug/sept. But then again, it took the guy 10 min. just to answer a simple accout quesiton.
so, as if read some of the other posts, i will say it in mine....take it for what you like...i just hope the phone lives up to all the hype...lets keep our fingers crossed.

Read the middle part of the story; hope this puts a little more credibility since its coming from an internal source.

i went and got the vx7000 today and man am i blown away by it...it looks a million times nicer in person, its solid and just feels good in your hand. the menu was clean and easy to use and the rotating lens is great. i could care less when the v710 comes out cause i am 100% satisfied with the vx7000....you all should consider it forreal.

I see that Motorola has an advertisement for the v710, in the latest edition of Entertainment Weekly. Apparently, this company knows that it's got consumers chomping at the bit for this phone. 🙄

So I sent this e-mail to Motorola about the V710 and this is what I got back:

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your interest in the new Motorola V710. Unfortunately because of the amount of people we have bothering us every day, we are not going to be releasing the V710 to the public. It will only be for Verizon and Motorola representatives. They will be available for phone calls to make you all feel bad for what you've done.

We are going to be posting a list of every person's name and e-mail address who has sent us mail about the phone on our website and selling the addresses to every SPAM list on the net. We're going to make so much money off of this that we'll continue to advertise the V710. Again, each ad will contain the celluarl number...

I have a friend who is a Corporate Executive for Verizon in NY, and I asked her about the V710, and she plainly said don't hold your breath. She said that she wanted one for herself and she keeps getting a run around from inside the company. She then added that she knows that they have been having problems with bluetooth, and recommended the vx7000 which is what she now has. A second later I went into a Verizon store and the manager told me that the new dates she has for the v710 are slated for August and stressed that was by no means a guarantee. only person i would is Ecko but then again he bought his phone for like $500 and sold im sure more than $1000
I bet he liked the phone but he made money on it plus it had some bugs because it was a tester unit, plus this phone will be out in couple of weeks (not a test unit) so ecko will go ahead and get it for alot cheaper.

Look from the information i've seen, the Phone is Coming out this month, which date i'm unsure of, even though i don't think it will be out on the 6 i still think it will be out before the 10 of july if not on that date(i don't give a flying^%@@%& if it is a saturday, a phone gets released when it do's) either way can we stop posting about august release dates and shyt like that and jus wait and see, i'm tired of all this bull speculation on august, september, christmas, next year release date, be realistic the phone will be out in july, lets jus see if these' release dates are true and stop postin this unrealistic specultation untill u know its official.

Sorry guys but july 6th wont be the release date for V710, we would know at least 3 to 4 days imternally on the release date and there still is no mention of this phone. Base on the info from VZWSales I would go for a August time frame allowing VZW to see how well the VX7000 does in sales, this is just my opinon but take the release date as info as fact, if something offical is release you will see a post and it will be on the shelves within 2 weeks.

but it seems like Motorola customer service people aren't all in sync with regards to the V710. I asked again on their web site when the phone was going to be released and they basically said they had no idea. Here's most of the email response.

Motorola is continuously launching new products. When cellular products launch, the timelines are often defined by agreement between Motorola and the phone carrier who will be selling the product on our behalf. Because of this, the dates that we were given are not always specific.

It's our commitment that when we deliver the V710, they will meet or exceed our customer's expectations. This requires extensive testing of the product by Motorola and Verizon Wireless. We are currently working toge...

on howards there a guy who just post that his verizon store has them in and they will be sold this thursday, man i wish!!! but dont think so!!!! 😡

I was at a vendor expo in Baltimore for our franchise on the 1st of July. The Motorola rep had working V710's and V810's there. The 710 looked very nice. She said that it should've gotten final approval that day (7/01) and that they were just waiting approval to ship now pretty much. Now this is a PR rep, but she seemed to know what the deal was. I played with the phone for a few minutes.

At the end of the expo, they had a few raffles. In the end, I won one "mystery prize" and another guy did too. I got 4 box seats to an Orioles game. He got a V710. Grr. I tried to trade him, but he wasn't even remotely interestd. Full production box on the 710 and everything. So they're ready to go I would suppose. It can't be too long now.

I just talked to a motorola sales rep on the phone and he quoted 2 to 3 weeks it will be released. Now what we all should do is eveyone call to see if you get the same information and if you do it is reliable infomation.

Not to add fuel to the fire, but my friend is the manager of Verizon in Tallahassee. He sent me a text message one my trusty v60.

"(V710) Will not be available til mid-August the soonest."

This is verbatim, so take it as you may. What sucks is my contract ran out 2 weeks ago, but he has me going day by day so I can use my New every Two.

I don't work for vzw or anything, this is just my opinion. For the 670, vzw employees knew 8 days before it was released the exact date it was coming out. For the 7000, vzw employees knew well over a week what date is was coming out. It's now 4 days before the "supposed" release date and still no official word. I'm just as excited as everyone else, but I'm not expecting it to come out on the 6th.
