Bluetooth

A quick explanation of Bluetooth is that it allows connection without the traditional wires possible. Phone to headset, phone to laptop to use as modem, phone to car kit. It basically uses radio waves to connect instead of line of site like infrared. Check out Bluetooth.com or Motorola also has a brief blurb. The future is the interesting part-explained on the site. Hope this helps.

just got back from the VZW retail store, and... same old

To her credit, the VZW retail CSR at least knew what the 710 was, and a general sense of the pipeline timeframe. She actually talked to EVERY VZW employee in the store when I asked the proverbial "when's it coming out?" her first reply pre-queries was "at LEAST a month to a month and a half." Post-queries response was "it's still in testing and we really have no idea." I know, same ****/different day, but the CSR was *really* hot 😳 and started flirting with me 🙄 . I digress.

I do have to say that at least their phone switch-out plan is really good. After my T720 went dead last night (from playing with Motorola PST software -- be careful with it people, you need to know what you're doing), $50 bucks later and I have a new T730 (I ...

For a decent preview of the 710-

Go to your local best buy. Check out the vm4050 phone they have on display.

It's very comparable in features to the v710 (https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/compare.ph p?id%5B%5D=352&id%5B%5D=475) as far as screen size/quality, features such as videos and pics, and this phone is very close to the size of the 710 (for those who are getting worried from hearing how big the 710 is going to be).

Just thought I'd throw that out, helped me get a much better idea of what to expect. Hope it helps some of you.

facts

first off the cameras on the 8000 and 710 are both exactly the same megapixels(one company rounds up to 1.3 and another rounds down to 1.2).Next, the 710 is a reg consumer phone and will b avail to all, not business customers first. Next, the 8000 series of audiovox were made by hyundai and were pieces of ****, but the 9900 is made by toshiba and its a great phone. The sprint version 9950 is popular and on hofo, the tester who tested the 9900 and 710 thought the 9900 was better. As for size, I never held a 710 so I dont know but yeterday I played w the 7000 and it was big. Also its shaped like a oblong brick (as opposed to my 6000 which is curvier)so it looked really BIG.The only thing I know about 710's size is the comparison on phonescoop w t...

When does it come out exactly? Can you use AOL(AIM)/MSN/Yahoo on it?

Pretty much all I have to ask is in the subject. Thanks for any help in advance!

Size - help please

I have a question regarding the size:

The specs list a height dimension of 94mm. Does anyone know if this measurement is from the tip of the stub antenna or just the base unit?

Thanks

The ebay scams

How are these people planning on pulling this off? Even though they claim in the auction that they ill ship upon release, I thought if you went to a Verizon store and bought a phone at full retail - you still had to have a number established for the phone at the time of sale??????

Motorola's phones

Hey, all...

I'm starting to lose patience for this phone, as I suspect many of you are. I'm sick of Sprint's sh*tty service, but I tried the v600 on AT&T and it was just as bad.

I want VZW, but the phones are... eh.

On the other hand, that MPx100 looks TIGHT! Any clue which carrier that would be? It looks to be everything the v710 is, PLUS a PDA. I might as well wait for that.

L8R all.

Wait a minute...

Can you, or can you not send pics and video and stuff to your computer from your V710 and vice versa? I don't mean by bluetooth only...can you transfer stuff with anything? Thanks...

Unbelievable.

This site, as well as Howard's Forums, are great -- I started about two months ago when I strolled into a Verizon store in NYC to replace my aging V60, and I wound up here to check into (as per the salesguy's suggestion) the V710.

And as some others herein have pointed out, the 710 is a phone. It's not the replacement liver your aunt needs for her transplant operation. It's not the engagement ring you're saving to give to your high school sweetheart. It's a metal and plastic device you can use to make phone calls.

It kind of amazes me that some of the people here seem to have more interest in what they're using to make the phone call than in who or why they're calling in the first place.

The best part is the people who have already ...

I spoke to a Rep Very funny

I called Verizon today to see if there was any update on when the phone will be launched. The very nice woman at Verizon said that they did not have any data as to when it will be released but to go to.. and Get this www.phonescoop.com and check the forum there. She said that this forum will have more updated information than the sales people will. Tell me this is not getting out of hand.

[To Verizon in case they are reading this forum]

Dear Verizon,

We are all waiting to spend money some of us will be new customers. Release the phone and we will buy it. Or at least give us the release date so we can Preorder. Your attempts to hide the fact that the phone exists by not telling your sales reps is really sad. They are getting calls ...

Remote picture takikng??

This might be a pipe dream, but from watching the string theory video, they make it seem as if you can control the camera with voice via bluetooth...so might it be possible to set the phone down in a room and take random pictures?? Would be a neat feature I think! Someday we will find out...

Picture Quality

Like everyone else I have been waiting for this stupid ass phone forever. I really have no use for the bluetooth, but I do want a phone that takes high quality photos / video. The size of the 710 bothers me and I have been considering the 670 or even the 9900 (I know it's still big, but cheaper which is a plus). Do you guys think the picture quality of the 710 will be far superior to the 670 or the 9900?

What are the odds? You do the math

everyone in this forum is saying the v710 should be out by the latest july 6. I was waiting for audiovox cdm-9900, but if the v710 comes out within a month of the 9900 I'll wait. YOU DO THE MATH
9900 fcc approval august 27 2003---still not available.
v710 fcc approval February 12 2004.
My question is what makes anybody think these phones will come out around the same time?
Also it was this forum that told me the 9900 would be out in march, april, may, ...guaranteed.
