desktop charger and/or extended battery

Is there a desktop charger available for this phone? OEM or not.
Also, what's the story with a larger battery? I heard a while back that a larger one was supposed to come out with a larger back plate to fit it.

Statement from Bluetooth SIG about the V710

Here is a clip from one of the many articles published after the Wall Street Journal article:

"The Bluetooth SIG is very disappointed in this (Verizon's) implementation decision and believes many consumers who purchased this (the V710) phone for the Bluetooth capabilities are frustrated and confused as a result," said Michael Foley, the group's executive director. "Users have realistic expectations that Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones will work with their other Bluetooth-enabled devices including cars, headsets, PCs, printers, PDAs etc. While we on the technical side understand that certain profiles must be implemented to enable various usage scenarios, we shouldn't expect consumers, for example, to realize their phone does not have the O...

Number of rings to voicemail

I apologize for the dumb question if it is a dumb question...

How do I set the number of times the phone rings before it goes to voicemail?

I have searched the phone menus and have yet to find a way to set this.

Thanks.

SD update

Does the current SD flash update (8700_1.02.SD) add back the feature copy things from the transflash card to the phone? Also does the handset also ring while you have the ear piece enabled?

Flashing Back to 8700_01.30.8F

Hello--

I'm wondering how to flash back to the 8700_01.30.8F firmware.

I flashed my phone to 8700_01.02.SD and although Bluetooth worked...I lost the ability to use Mobile Web (keep getting an error saying that the "Network is Down" though it isn't).

I've looked to find a copy of the original 8700_01.30.8F firmware, but haven't found one.

Any advice is appreciated.

If it was'nt crippled.

If the V710 wasn't crippled, how would you pair it to another phone?

Deleting Voicemail

With Verizon's voicemail, is it possible to delete a voicemail before you reach the end of the message?

Sometimes messages drag on and I just want to delete it before reaching the end. But if I hit "7" in mid-message it does nothing.

Is this possible and if so how?

Thanks.

Unable to detect the V710 in the PST (flash and test commands) app.

Hi Guys,

I'm a nub to this forum.. But I'm trying to flash my V710 with the PST as directed in several of the postings. But I was able to install the PST and the patch successfully. When I start up the application for (Flash and Test Commands) I then connect my phone via the USB cable. It properly detects the phone and all the drivers. However, when I to pick the SD flash via the browse it won't let me hit the flash button.

I'm looking through and I see that the device is not listed anything in the lower left hand corner of the app.

Any advise on a resolution to this hurdle.

Thanks, in advance.

Gave my V710 back to Verizon --

Last week I traded in a LG 6100 for the V710. I have been a long time subscriber to Verizon, and even though I was initially peeved about them disabling the V710's bluetoothing, I have been very happy with coverage and support. They gave me a full refund for the 710, even though I had already exchanged the LG 6100 - my grounds were they had disabled bluetooth-ing and not told me. The camera was also pretty lame - are any cell phone cameras any good? I'll wait for the new edition to come out (V815).

Superdave 1.02 ... Still no iSync?

I have flashed the V710 to the 1.02SD hacked firmware. Apparently this is supposed> to have all of the features of the 1.40 firmware that is making the rounds at Verizon, minus the audiofile restrictions.

It was my understanding that that means OBEX is enabled and therefore iSync should work just fine. Not only does iSync not work, but I still cannot send a file to the phone.

Am I wrong about this SD firmware? Did I receive the wrong version of the Superdave fw?

p.s. also the camera doesn't seem all that much better.

PIX Place way for MP3 ringtones no longer works?

I haven't used PIX Place since I originally got the phone to use it to bootleg my way around not buying a TransFlash card. I had gotten all the wallpapers and ringtones I had wanted at that point. Then today I made some new ringtones with iTunes and attempted to do the same thing I did before and it no longer works. PIX Place doesn't let me upload a .mid file and I don't know how to get around it. 👿 Any help on this issue?

HS810 & 820 (comparison)

- The HS810 Bluetooth headset has an active, folding boom. This means that opening and closing the boom on the HS810 will activate/deactivate the headset (answer/disconnect a call). That is the reason why this unit is a bit more expensive than the HS820 headset. The Motorola HS820 unit does not offer this feature.

- The HS820 headset comes in grey, gloss black and teal colors.

- The inside part that rests up against your ear on the Motorola HS810 piece is different than the HS820 which may or may not be more comfortable depending on your preference.

- The HS820 Bluetooth headset supports both Bluetooth v1.1 and v1.2 (Bluetooth 1.2 devices are not expected to be available until sometime in 2005). The Motorola HS810 unit supports B...
