Motorola V710

Buy.com is offering the V710 for free after $300 rebate on new activations. The company doesnt have the greatest reputation, so you have to decide whether or not its worth the risk.

I was thinking about getting another V710 but am unsure what qualifies as a new activation? Can I just add another line or does it have to be a person who doesnt or never had a verizon cell phone account.

Does anyone have a link to the VZW B@B page to purchase accessories for the V710?

Does this sorry excuse for a phone use a CCD cencor or a CMOS? Thanks.

My guess from the less than poor picture quality is that it uses CMOS, but I'd like to know for sure.

I think they are alike because Just cause they've been in this business for so long.. They think they are automatically the shizit.. They take no if ands or buts... They stick with old techniques to successfully run the company. Look how long Verizon took to come out with a phone with all the bells and whistles and still, it didnt live up to it. And Nintendo... the gamecube is almost a failure.. I dont think its a complete failure but some sort of failure.. And still.. their philosophy is to stick with the old way, not graphics or any of that stuff just cause they ARE Nintendo. If they both keep it up like this, then unfortunately, one day they will both go down.

I know this has been beaten to death already, but I just got my v710. I have never seen such an awful excuse for a camera. Luckily, I'll rarely use it. When I turned the cam on, all across the screen were horizontal interference lines and a pixelated mess.

Is this for real? Do I have a damaged phone?

On my phone box are three stickers from top to bottom are: red, orange, blue. What does all that mean?

Wow, I just did both of these and it fixed a few problems with the phone. I've already done the SD flash and I noticed that the Voice Dial feature no longer worked. Also, ever since I've owned this phone when I am in the main menu and have an icon selected, it does it's little animation. But on the third loop of the animation it will do like two frames and freeze then two more and freeze etc. I don't know why, but that bothered me.

After the Master Reset/Master Clear the boot times for my phone have significantly increased, menus are faster, no more freezing icon animation, voice dial works properly and even the bluetooth connection with my computer/MPT seems to be improved.

I do have to give a warning though, make sure you back up...

Didn't Motorola say that they are coming out with new updated firmware for the phone in December or so? Anyone know the status of that? In addition what's the FLASH update everyone is talking about on this forum?

I know someone probally already thought of this... and maybe it wouldn't work... or wouldn't work on VZW network... but I have to ask, "Why don't we get a hold of a OEM Flash for the phone and flash them with it????"

Would this not fix the related bluetooth probelms????

(Although, let me take a guess at this one.... Get It Now probally wouldn't work nor wireless???)

I was checking VZWs site to see prices on phones - as I'm up for a new one. I noticed the price of a v710 is now $249.99 - $50 online disc = $199.99. It used to be $299.99 - $50 online disc = $249.99. This is great to see as this phone suddenly becomes more affordable - especially with my $100 new every two credit.

Thanks alot to Verizon for making us get into so much controversy, and teamwork, for figuring out the crippled V710.

Regardless that VZW has limited bluetooth on this phone, the service is still awesome. Perhaps they'll change their minds in the long run and enable full bluetooth capabilities not only with this phone but with future phones released by VZW.

Of course, any other provider has better phones and even bluetooth, however, the service is horrible.

The other providers might improve their service in the near future, either better than VZW or at least equivalent. Until then, VZW all the way. 🙂

I have 2 videos from the v710 and 1 video from my pc on my TF card. Today i actually heard the audio from the videos thru my headset. But it only works sometimes.. so weird.. then i tried my ringers but nope.. only video.. i dont know if its cause of the new flash. i do have the new flash though.. Anybody else?

The new software didn't help me. So I'm done with this phone.

Before I rant at a VZW store, I want to be sure that the new software is available publically.

Is VZW distributing the software yet? 🙂
