Official Note - Verizon recalls v710 for 2nd time due to continuing camera issue

I just spoke with my local retail sales rep at Verizon who confirmed that Verizon corporate has ordered all v710 phones to be returned as the repair to the cameras was not sufficient.

Maybe less scratches?

Just picked up a new 710 today. One of the things I noticed is the rubber for the TF card slot cover extends all across the edge that the flip part of the phone rests against when open. I know there were complaints with scratches in the area just above the camera lense from this edge. Is this new or do the old 710's also have the rubber across this edge?
Looks pretty good on this one and I can't see how it would scratch.

If you are having troubles buying a v710...

Buy a used one with the tilted camera issue, and swap it out for a brand new/FRU "blue dot" version at a verizon store. They cannot SELL new ones (be it true or not), but they still have to give you a fixed one.

I paid about $150 for a used v710 with the camera issue, and now have a brand new one thanks to good ol' moto and their recall 🙂.

Alltel v710 & car phones ... any better than Verizon?

I talked to Alltel tech services today about whether their v710 would allow me to transfer the entire phone book to the bluetooth phone in my Toyota Prius. I specifically asked if they were aware of the blutooth problems with the Verizon version. He said they were aware of Verizon's limitations and Alltel's version should be fully functional with car phones. If anybody has tried to pair an Alltel v710 with a car, preferably a Prius, please post the results. Thanks very much.

WARM OFF THE PRESS(V710 BLUES)

I went to a verizon retail store this weekend and was told by one of the reps that this phone has major issues and they were told not to sell anymore of them. The rep even went as far as to show me other phones and said for me to wait until the lg vx8000 comes out. For a phone thats suppose to be the talk of the town the talk is NEGATIVE. 🤭

My friend is having transflash problems

Hey all.

I have a transflash card and card reader and havent had any problems with getting ringers and images to and from the phone...but my friend seems to be getting errors. I tell him to do the same thing I do (over the phone) and it gives him "invalid path / image not found" errors when he tries to copy / paste or drag them into his removable disk drive. anyone else experience this problem?? he did reformat the transflash card so that shouldnt be the problem.

anyone know if it is a problem with the computer or perhaps the cardreader / transflash card? he just got them off ebay a few days ago.

thanks

Speakerphone on when closed?

Is there a way to keep the speakerphone on with the phone closed? You can do this on basically every other moto.

v1710 - recalled for 2nd time this weekend???

My interest in the v710 is relatively new. I upgraded 10 days ago from a T720 to a Audiovox 9900. I have since decided that I want the v710 for its bluetooth capabilities, memory card, etc.

I understand that the v710 was recalled a couple of weeks ago due to the camera being off centered (or something like that). The phone then began to appear in my local Verizon retail stores late last week. The first store I called told me they sold out quickly. The second and third stores I called told me that they got them back in but were told to pull them due to defects. They did not tell me what the issue was. As this was on Saturday, I was unable to get a formal response from Verizon corporate. However, not one of the 4 Verizon retail stores in...

Transflash Transfer

Hello All

I got a replacement for my V710 yesterday. I guess this might have been already said but n e way. One thing, the camera is definitely much brighter, although u still see those pixels or whatever when u take the picture. The software version is the same 8700_01_30.8F. I dont know why some ppl are talking about the rubber piece, it was there on my old phone as well.

Btw I wanted to know which pc's or notebooks have this Transflash card slot. Can some one help in this matter. Also Is there any way to transfer pics, ringtones using USB cable and is there a free download for driver software?. If anyone had n e success please let me know.

Thanks in Advance.

By the way.

I also took my phone back twice. I am on my second one. I had a legitimate complaint. My phone was freezing up and the screen was going blank. Verizon after 2 months were glad to give me 2 replacements. I think it's all in the way you approach them. Maybe all of us that have had defects in the phone should get together and have a class action suit against Verizon because our phones had a few software issues 🙄 Ha!!! Ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!Better yet while we are at it why don't we sue them every time our phone drops a call 🙄 Also , while we are at it, why don't we sue Mcdonalds every time they don't give ketchup with our fries. The list goes on. The sick thing is...

Faceplate the easy way

Yes believe it or not there is an easy way.
1) Slide a thin blade under the inside lens and remove it carefully.
2) Slide faceplate of of phone.
Easy isn't it. I haven't tried it yet but seams to be fool-proof.

Motorola Newbie -- Address Book Question

I just purchased this phone several days ago, and so far I absolutely love it. But I do have a question regarding the Address Book.

I've set up my Address Book to "View by: List," "Sort by: Name," and "View: Primary Contacts." I understand that if I need to access a number other than the primary one for any of my contacts, all I have to do is to use the right navigation key to scroll over to the number I need to call. However, I've noticed that if I do select a number other than the primary number for someone and make a call, when I return to the Phonebook, that last number that I called for that same contact is now in the default/primary view. I would have expected the phonebook to revert to displaying the number I had originally set as ...

Got my new handset

Just got back from the Verizon store with my new handset.

The tech claims it was a brand new unit, however, the old ESN sticker is obviously covered - the corner of the old one is visable. But no where does it say it is a FRU.

As far as the features, everything is identical except the tilt. The software is the same (no ETA on the update, tech said I will know b4 him) the bluetooth is the same and the camera is only slightly better.

I asked him if the screen was the replacement so that the keypad doesnt scratch it, he said he was unaware of the issue and that the only change was with the camera.

However, he claims I did get a new battery. not 100% sure since I can't remember any model info on the old one.

Just my experience....

New V710's and transflash???

so I called *611 last night and got them to send me a "NEW" V710 as opposed to a FRU - just took a little convincing. But my question is - do the new units have any change to the software or is it strickly a camera fix? I have heard (rumors, rumors) that the new software update may disable file transfer from the transflash card. Has anyone with one of the new V710 units tried transfering anything to or from the trasflash? Also are there any other changes to the new units?

Thanks in advance for any and or all input 😁

Transflash or Phone problem

I tried to put a song on my V710 via transflash...I converted the song and shortened it because I want to use it as ringtone...However, when I play the song on the phone, at the end of the 30 sec song, it skips like a broken record. Any ideas or solutions? In addition, I tried to move a specific song and it says move failed...any ideas on that as well...Thanks in advance.
