Motorola V710

I downloaded the software update off howards forum, and it says that you need to put it on with PST. Where do you get it for free, and is it possible to do through MPT instead. Please reply with all this wonderful information because I am sure there are plenty of people interested. Also, can you transfer files and pictures through the usb cable finally wwith this update?

Just got off the phone with 2nd tier tech support at Moto.

Apparently the knuckleheads in design decided that they didn't want the phone to ring when BT was enabled thru the 810/820 headsets. There is only a beep thru the headset.

They have no plans to change this and this guy told me that's how all Moto phones work with BT headsets.

When I told him Nokia BT phones ring when using the 810, he didn't seem to czre and flat out said Moto wouldn't be changing this.

If this is the case I'll be dumping this phone and will not be purchasing anymore Moto products.

I'm a new V710 owner, swapped over from T-Mobile to Verizon, mainly because of poor reception and bluetooth. I haven't had any major issues with my phone except for it freezing up on me, while using mobile web.

Anyway, I was curious to know if there are any mobile website that might have streaming video, or anything of the sort?

The alltell v710 software is available @ howardforums, and corrects the BT headset problem and others. The software is 100% compatible with your v710s.. Here is a list in the changes:

1) Phone has option to ring when BT linked to headset.
2) Phone Has an "M" graphic for outer screen
3) MPT works over bluetooth
4) Picture gallery is a different format
5) Some people report that the outer CID picture is about 2x the size

currently in the works at hofo are an obex hack and possibility of java (apps & games) on the v710's "new" software, so you may not be stuck with brew forever 🙂

Phone not ringing when BT HS820 is enabled. Anybody know anything about when or if this will be corrected?

I spoke to someone who has the v600 on AT&T and they mentioned that the phone can be set to ring when they have their HS810 enabled.

This is a major PITA for me, personally, considering that the 820 can't be enabled fast enough to catch all calls.

For those of you waiting, the 710 is back in stock in the warehouse and should be avail. at stores by the weeks end. No word on the bluetooh though.

As mentioned in a few of my posts, my v710 went dead, verizon techs couldnt fix it, now Im screwed without a phone until it is re-released since they dont have them instock to swap out for me...

so does anyone have an old sprare verizon phone they can spare to sell for cheap, or even let me borrow for a month or so and I will still give you money via paypal or whatever??

id prefer a motorola since I have all the equiptment for them (like any v60 model, t720/t730) but id use another brands too. Im kind of picky so if it is a big fax machine type phone, ill pass ;) id rather pay the few extra dollars on ebay for a semi decent phone

Its funny, like 3 days ago I had my kyocera slider and my v710 up for sale, nobody contacted me and I even got in trouble with supervision because I put it on the upcoming verizon phones forums. Now everybody needs a phone and has a phone to sell. Anyway if anyone needs a phone since I HAVE READ A FEW POSTS ASKING FOR A PHONE than feel free to contact me. I just put my v710 on ebay today but so far no hits so I could still pull it, and Im gonna put my slider up soon. The slider is in GOOD condition, holster, car charger,new chrome faceplate never installed, and the v710 is like new (except for the light line above the camera from opening the phone. A website is offering v710 for free...ofcourse after rebates. I was wondering if I should buy it. What is your take on it?? Comments needed.

does anybody know how the new firmware (that hopefully comes out some time this year) will be installed? By that I mean through a Verizon Store or over the Air? Also if from a Verizon Store, would there be a charge for this?

I get a v710, Im happy with it (unlike all you picky people 😁)...it breaks for no reason, I bring it back and they dont have it in stock, and cant give me a replacement/loaner phone because they dont carry those..

I guess Ill just go the month without a phone...hopfully they will charge me for my monthly fee too!! yay!

Ive had my v710 since it first came out, and I have been very happy with it...however, just the other day, my phone completely stopped working. the screen is dead, it doesnt react when its plugged into the charger, I tried removing the battery to restart it etc...

I know the battery had plenty of juice in it when i first noticed it was dead. it was like 2 hours from fully charged.

so I went to my local verizon store and they couldnt fix it or get it to work, nor did they have the phone in so they couldnt replace it with a new one (since they got recalled)...so my dilemma is, what am I supposed to do about getting a new phone??

is it possible another verizon store may have it in still? i dont care about the tilted came...

Can anyone comment on how the battery lift on the 710 compares to the 9900. 9900 is currenly lasting 3-4 days on a charge.

I wrote to Verizon Customer Serivce twice. The first time, I got a standard response which was, in fact, a lie. Verizon asserts that the crippled V710 will wokr with Car Kits. It doesn't work with mine. The BMW BT module rerquires OBEX to function even remotely reliably.

I responded to the lie... and got this response from a supervisor.

"Thank you for contacting the Verizon Wireless website.  We are sorry to learn that you are having difficulty with the current supported Bluetooth functionality of the Motorola V710.  We are happy to provide you with further information.

Due to customer feedback such as yours, Verizon Wireless is re-assessing the Bluetooth functionality of the Motorola V710. We may look at changing the softwar...

i got off of the phone with verizon and they told me they shipped out the new phones so i went to a verizon corporate store in yonkers and they told me they werent shipped out yet and that the person i spoke iwth on the phone was just saying that...anyway she said she would be more than happy to give me any other phone in the store of equal or lesser value...but if i went to lesser value i would not be reimbursed..she also said there would be no software update any time soon...just wanted to let everyone know

I am at my desk. I need to add a phone number to my phone, which is clipped to my belt or in my pocket/briefcase. I key in the contact on my computer which in turn syncs to the phone using BT. I get into the car, and have the ability to call the new contact by scrolling through the address list using a steering wheel button. The contact calls me, his/her caller ID comes up on the dashboard screen, music is muted, I take the call. Its a server down emergency. I pull over and park the car, turn off the engine. BT unpairs with the phone. I open up my laptop the phone pairs with the laptop to give me a broadband connection. (currently only DUNS available with some phones). would anyone want to trade phones with me? i have the lg vx7000 and it is in great condition. no major scratches, just a few on the back battery that you wont notice til you really look at it, it comes with the car charger, home charger and all of the original packaging and a usb data cable. i will be willing to pay some money aslo. my email is [email protected]

I don;t know if this has been posted before (sorry if it has...) but the "Live Update" is now updating to version 3.11

Honestly people, do you think it's worth it to deal with all this crap for this phone? There are over 550 pages just on this phone in this forum!!! Should we seriously just move on and find a new phone? Seriously if I hadn't bought the bluetooth headset... I would be using an audiovox simply because they have good cameras and trimode. Will there be anything on the market comparable to the V710? Anytime soon?
