Motorola V710

Aren't you jeopardizing your position by giving us company information? Not too long ago, a supposedly former VZW employee was terminated due to posting "info" on this forum. I hope you're cautious as to what you're supposed to inform us with.

geez. verizon pulls the phone off the shelves, sends them back to motorola. but they are dumb as DUMB CAN BE. And they keep sayying.. the camera is perfectly fine and i tell them no its not, im holding mine up right now and its tilted like everybody else. But of course they deny and recommened to send it to motorola.. (Yea ok and take 4 years to get back haha)... I just want a solid freaking date of when the fixed ones will come in. ALl i know is the software update for november and she said it will enable you to use mobile phone tools over bluetooth and use your phone as a modem.

I called vzw and they told me that the standard ring length before the phone goes to voicemail is 25 seconds; however, you can cutomize the length to your personal preference. I changed mine to 30 seconds. No extra charges for this guys. Can you believe that?

Using the TF card you can put mp3's on your phone then move the whole song to the phones memory. If you have a program that lets you edit a mp3 and save it than you can transfer the clip to the memory and move to the phones memory to make it a ringtone.

This website says the phone has "Multiple numbers per entry. This means that an individual entry in the Phone Book can contain more than one phone number, such as Office, Home, Mobile, Fax, etc."

When I try adding more than one phone number to an entry, the Contact repeats itself on the list. Am I missing some step?

Got a reply from customer service (from an e-mail i send a week ago):

We apologize for the inconvience regarding your V710. We are working hard to put in place an exchange program for the defective V710 phones with the bad camera. At this time we are not able to release anymore information regarding this issue. There should hopefully be a firmware upgrade soon for some functions on the phone that were disabled. Unfortunately, we are not able to release information regarding this upgrade and what it entails.

Hi all, I was wondering if any of you had figured out an elegant solution to my problem.

I have the mobile phone tools and the usb cable for the V710. I also have a palm pilot. Here at work I do have outlook (xp actually not 2003 yet but I don't think that matters). I want a way to sync with the palm pilot and with the phone but not have everything in the cell phone and I want everything in the palm pilot.

OK, that's my problem. I have a TON of contacts in my outlook contacts section. Some personal, some work related. But I don't really use my cell phone for work. So I wanted a bunch of phone numbers in the V710 but not all of my contacts. So I created a new folder under my contacts. And I copied the contacts I wanted in the p...

Anybody that actually has it says different?

So sometime in November, we will be able to return our V710s and replace them with the new, supposedly "fixed" ones? Does anyone know what will be different about the new V710s? Thanks in advance

I just checked to see if any new phones came out and the motorola V710 is completly off the verizon site now...what is going on here?? I now here that the new ones wont come in till late novmeber this rediculous i think i might just get the vx 8000 when it comes out! 😕

I have a few more days to return my V710 I bought last week. I’m worried about this recall. Seeing Verizon take the phone off their web site is disheartening. Even the GetItNow store (http://www.vzwshop.com/ginstore/) does not have the V710 listed.

I was able to get my Dell Axim X30 to dial SBC Global dial-up networking through Bluetooth (14.4Kb). That was one of the main reasons I bought the phone. Now that I hear I can’t use Bluetooth file transfer to sync my phone numbers or files. I think the phone my not be worth the money.

I would like to use some of the memory play mp3 files, but how the hell do you get them in the phone with out file transfer? Also, doesn’t GetItNow seem like just another scheme to get more money out o...

I think I am interested in getting the 9900. Iv'e had my 710 for almost 2 months now and I do love it, but theres only one problem...I dont use half of it. I have downloaded about 8 mp3 ringers, 1 game, and have kept it in absolute EXCELLENT condition. I also have 2 leather cases, one from motorola and one from Wireless solutions. Plus I have an extra battery. Also know that I do not have a bad phone-meaning the volume is loud, the screen doesn't freeze up, I have never had to pop the battery in order to clear the system, and the camera is just fine. I would think about a trade, but I think I would just rather sell the entire package for about $300.00 and then just go out and buy a 9900 at retail plus a case and maybe an extra battery for it...

I called to try to order a V710 and they told me it was recalled due to LCD screens breaking.... They said more next week...

I've had a V710 for about a month when suddenly anytime I tried to open the camera or video camera features, the screen would go blank and only button that worked was the "back" button. I took the phone to a Verizon Superstore in a mall and they just took the phone and took my address info and sent me a new one, without even attempting to troubleshoot it. By not doing that, it appears to me that this seems to be a common problem with this phone. I may have to bite the bullet on this purchase if I am unable to sell this phone to a "friend" of mine (he won't be much longer) and I ordered online the LG VX-6100 for its tri-mode and speakerphone features; the same features that the V710 has, but hopefully longer battery life.

For all those that decided that they wanted inferior capabilities in GSM and slower connections speeds as well as horrible capabilities, see ya, wouldn't want to be ya. GSM America is GSM still less coverage so have fun. Adios.

If you use a transflashe for you photo transfer (why pay verizon). I noticed if you increase the brightness of the photo it really enhances the photo quality. I've used multiple photo editors and had the same results.

I implore anyone who wants there V710 with all of its features to write to VZW to customer service on there website. You must mention that verizon is no longer the largest wireless provider and that you will leave there service unless they change there practices to suit the customers. First rule of bizz " Customers always right". If they get flooded with complaints about this they will change. They are running scared now b/c of the ATT/Cingular merger and hopefully with enough complaints we will be able to have the phone that we thought we were purchasing.

Verizon Wireless has identified an issue with a limited number of Motorola V710 cameras that are not mounted on the handset specifications. This can result in a photo where the object appears noticeably crooked or tilted. This issue does not affect all V710s. Currently, Verizon Wireless is experiencing a temporary shortage of inventory due to this issue. New inventory is expected to be in stock by late November.


Should you receive a customer that is affected by this issue, please advise the customer the Motorola V710's are on backorder until late November. Please Do Not instruct the customer to return to the Communication Store at this time. In addition, the product is not presently available in Fulfillment and should not be offered ...
