Motorola V710

I called verizon and talked to the normal customer service representative who really knows nothing techincal and provides no support regarding the overall issue. I then talked to an account manager, Jeremy (ID # 4670), who said he would not take fingerpointing from the Data group regarding this being motorola's issue. After being on hold for about 12 minutes he came back online with a representative from Motorola (a nice 3-way). We talked about the issues on this forum and other press regarding the phone. The simple question: when will OBEX (file transfer) support be enabled on the phone? The answer is not in the near future if ever. A few additional details regarding the Motorola V710:

Verizon Wireless has identified an issue with a limited number of Motorola V710 handsets. The cameras are not mounted to specifications. This can result in a photo where the object appears noticeably crooked or tilted.

It will occur out-of-box. If the issue does not occur out-of-box, it will not present itself overtime.

The issue with the camera is limited to the actual mounting in the device hardware. The camera component is not defective.

All current Memphis DC inventory is on hold and will be sent to Motorola for inspection. We do not have an ETA on the availability of New handsets with properly mounted cameras in Memphis.

Does anyone here pay the herendous prices for international dialing through Verizon...Well if you do i can start you through a company that allows you to call from your cell phone, you call a 212 number, then it gives you a dial tone to call where ever you need in the world...If u sign up before the end of the month, the company will give you to start $5 free of calling....

Most countries in Europe are 6cents, so this is definetely cheaper than Verizon..

I know calling cards may be cheaper, but on this there is no connection fee, and u do not need to carry a stupid card around.This service works as well for other wireless providers, and landline companies..

The camera in my V710 has the "tilt" issue. I took it to my local store to see if I could have the phone swapped out. The store had no phones and they suggested I call *611 to try and locate another store with a replacement. After about 4 different calls to customer service, I was told that the phone has been "quarantined" by Verizon because of the camera issue, and this is the reason that none are for sale or are available as warranty replacements. They also have no idea when the will be available again.

I must say I'm really angry that after nearly $400 to get into the phone with Bluetooth, there is a "how could this happen" defect with the phone and virtually no solution at this point.

For those who have ventured into getting their V710 to talk to their car (I'm driving a Prius w/bluetooth capability with some limitations) I am going through a Pavlovian training process whereby the only way I know that a phone call is arriving while in the car is that the radio/CD sound shuts down (NOW the display screen is telling me that a call has arrived but of course, being the ultimate safe driver, my eyes are on the road). Therefore I am in training to respond to the radio/CD cutting off and instinctively answering the phone call. In about 2 months I'll probably be doing the same thing in the house and at that time I will start therapy!! 😁 As has been commented on in this forum previously we are awaiting a firmware upgrade from M...

I went into my verizon store today cuz my friend got the vx 7000 today and wanted me to go with him. while we were talking to the guy helping us, I asked him what he thought abt the v 710 phone like if he liked it and if they sold alot of them and he told me actually they just took them off the floor. He said they got recalled cuz of the camera I guess he said they found out it was messed up. thats why the camera sucks right now on this phone. He said he has no clue when there going to get new models of this phone in he said it could be a little while but he said When they come in I can get the new one for free. I just looked on the site and onthe verizon site it says sold out!! I guess thats why. just thought id give a heads up!!!

I can't figure out how to change the backround on the front LCD.

Has anyone heard of their phone getting poor reception because you leave it on all the time? I barely turn my phone off ever and the tech guy I just spoke to told me that I should turn my phone off for an extended period of time at least once a day because it confuses the computers. Any truth to this?

Just an FYI because I in VZW cust service and I've heard nothing of the recall. I emailed our methods and procedures group, giving them the info that everyone here is saying, including the email from our other dept.

They said that our marketing department is working on a communication. Per marketing, it is not a recall. It is exactly what is stated in the email that you received from vzw.com

They also said customer service should get more info on it within the next day or two.

Hopefully I will have more info for you soon.

I have had various MP3s as my ringtones since I first got the phone. Before when I had it on Vibe/Ring the phone would vibrate and then the 30 second song would play and THEN go to voicemail. Now lately for some reason I get only 10 seconds of the song before it goes to voicemail. Has anyone else had this problem or have a solution for it? Thanks.

Hi, I haven't been in here for a while but just yesterday I received a text message and I was able to read the text without opening the phone. Please is there anyone that could help me. I want to know if you can read text messages without opening the phone. I tried pushing buttoms but nothing happened. I can't get it to do it again. Please someone help me out. Thank you I really appreciate it.

About 1 and a half months I ordered a leather case for my phone from the VZW business site. There were no indications that it was out of stock so I was rather surprised when I didn't receive it. I STILL DON'T HAVE IT. Now that I've ordered it, it tells me that it has been out of stock for the past 2 months. 😢

Has anyone experienced this problem? Has anyone ordered the leather case from VZW??

With the recall is there any chance they will fix or upgrade the low headset volume. This is a great phone but this Volume issue just kills it!!

Neither one of you have a 710 or want a 710 you just want to stir it up and sell something else -- get off of this forum -- you suck -- you are so full of dis information that it is like a political add. you don't have the phone you have no credible reason to type here -- go join the 3 other people on the 9900 forum dry up and disapear
