Motorola V710

I cant seem to get the ringtones or mp3s working. I put the files into motorola/browser/usr/ringtone, change it to .mid, shorten the name with no spaces... but when i change the storage device to tf, it doesnt go anywhere. What am i doing wrong?

I have my V710, and purchase a USB SD read/writer
from Radio Shack called Dazzle. I first
formatted the card on the v710, then I plugged in the
transflash 128MB card to the read/writer
attached to my Mac running OSX.

The card appears on my desktop. I then transfer
an mp3 file which is appx 1MB into the motorola/shared/audio folder. The file name is set to test.mp3,
so it should be short enough. The file is encoded at
128 kbps fixed rate.

I then transfer the transflash card to the v710. I select
under Media Gallery->Sounds, and then my
phone freezes. I then need to close the phone,
and re-open to get out of the freeze.

run disk defrag twice and make sure it's set to defrag files and free space... fixes it...

When i try and copy a ringtone onto my TF Card (using OSX)
i get the error "The Item 'transflash info" could not be moved because "rington" cannot be modified"

has anyone got that? and know how to correct it?

can someone please repost the way to cut a mp3 down using iTunes to make it shorter and smaller in size, i cant seem to find it...

ANd its gonna take an additional 8-10 weeks. HOW FREAKIN STUPID IS THAT. 15 WEEKS TOTAL. I HATE VERIZON.

Just wondering if other than the V710, if there are any other speaker independent voice dialing tri-mode phones currently available.

I really don't want to have to have to "train" the phone to learn my voice.

Where do the mp3s go (folder) to be played as media, not as ringtones?

This weekend I was upnorth in Kalkaska, Michigan on a Motorcycle trail ride. While riding in the state forest I came across a group of people huddled around a person so I stopped and asked do you need a cell phone. They all yelled YES! I gave them my v710 which was holding 2 bars digital in the forest and we were able to call 911 and get the EMTs out there to help. The e911 chip did no good as Kalkaska 911 was not e911 ready (They had not been given the money for upgrade yet). When I was leaving I found that 2 people there had cell phones that had no signal and this was why they needed mine. Which phones you ask, Nextel i710 and the other was the new cdm9900. V710 is not so bad after all!! 🤣

Just found out the hard way....the VZW Stores sell the 820 a HS 820, with UPC 723755665194....while VZW Business site sells it as HB 820 with the very same UPC code except it ends in a 3 not at 4 (as noted above). The $20 rebate does not apply to the business version (rebate form has the VZW Store HS and UPC# listed as the only one eligible). So, looks like I cannot get the $20 bucks back and its more than 15 days since I bought it so it cannot be returned/ repurchased. Also, the 820 is now listed at $79.99 (down $10 in the last couple of weeks).

Since the V710 uses BREW and not JAVA.... Will it be able to run JAVA games as well as BREW ... ?
I am planning on getting this phone and just want to know everything before I purchase it..

how do I find the motorola folder on the phone? It's there when I view the tf on my pc but otherwise I can't find it.I did format the tf first thing on the phone.Frustrating

Ok I sent two ringtones (.mp3 changed to .mid) to my phone using the way mentioned on this forum. I emailed them from my computer to my [email protected]. This worked great for the first two I sent. After that, none of them showed up in my inbox. Is there a limit to how many we can send?

Has anyone tried using BitPim with a futuredial cable to add and remove files on the Motorola V710?

I used BitPim with a futuredail cable with the LG VX7000 before I exchanged it for the V710.

I was able to get files off and on to the phone successfully, has anyone done anything like this with their V710?

I am looking for a v710 that someone wants to get rid of. I have a vx7000 and will trade it and some cash or equivalent. The 7000 is in great condition. Whoever wants to do this I will sign some sort of contract to assure you that I am not a scam or a theif.

Hi i was just wondering if anyone knows if the alarm clock on this phone will still go off if its set when the phone is powered off?? I know the V600 says it can but it dont say nothin abt the V710.

Got a 128mb tf from best buy $34.99 and card reader from officemax free after rebate. Formatted card and No probs with computer transfering .mids .jpegs .wavs etc. when I try to use files in 710 they are not complete. eg only a couple of kb. this includes pics and audio. what me doing wrong! PS when I view files on computer of tf they work fine.
