Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood

I bought the 8100 for the bluetooth and mp3 player. I like the bluetooth and find that I will not use the mp3 like I thought. My phone has the new version 4 flashed. Mp3 player works beautiful. I have a verizon cover, verizon car charger, and everything else that came with the phone. I will even throw in a 512mb mini SD card. Would like an 815 in like condition (9+). I don't have the phone yet. I'm trying to decide how much I would use the Bluetooth and mp3.

Lets say I'm listening to Greenday with my overprice Bluetooth stereo headset. (I'm open to suggestions on what headset to get too.)

What happens when a call comes in? Does it ring in over the tunes? How do I answer. Do I have to touch the headset or phone or is there a voice command? What if its my wife and I just want to keep listening to the tunes?

Does any one know why the external camera button hesitates to snap the picture when the phone is close and you are trying to take a picture of your self, sometimes it doesn't even snap, I have to try it for a while. I tried holding it down, but that doesn't work. When the phone is open it works fine. Any ideas???

I was so used to the T9 method and am having trouble adjusting to this new way. 😡 T9 was sooo much easier. what does anybody else think 🙄

I am trying to decide between purchasing the E815 or a smartphone. I love the E815 but was wondering if any of you were aware of a personal finance applicaton (Quicken) that can be loaded onto this phone?

Can I load any third part applications onto this phone other than games from Verizon?

Okay, so I'm wanting to put mp3's on my phone via the transflash card. I cut the file down to 15 seconds and saved it as an mp3 @ 40 kbps using WavePad. I then renamed the file to .mid and inserted the transflash card into the phone, changed storage devised, clicked the menu key and 'apply as a ringone' does not appear. Could anyone help me?

I was wondering if the Motorola E815 has Sony Music Box as a True Tone app? cuz the VZW Tones are really low volume

Can anyone tell me what the little symbols mean that are on the far left of text messages in the outbox (envelope, box with check mark in it, etc.)? I've looked everywhere but I just can't find anything on them. Also, when I leave the phone open for one minute (just timed it), everything just goes black (after it dims). Isn't the screen saver supposed to come on? I tried to turn the battery save off to see if that would make a difference, but it didn't. Thank you so much in advance.

Ok so I have had the 8100 for over a month now. I am now on my 2nd exchange, possibly going on a 3rd. I really like this phone but am thinking of exchanging it for the 815 due to problems I'm having w/it.

My first exchange was due to volume fluctuation and my pix/video disappearing. I never had issues with reception until just this week. For some reason I am getting intermittent service where I live and am dropping calls left and right. Really odd because it's only happening in the last 3 days. I was told my cust srvc that I could exchange for another 8100 or a comparable phone, of which I would only think is the 815. The 8100 is supposed to have a software upgrade coming out soon in my area (already out in other parts of U.S.) tha...

I was reading on another site that Motorola will begin changing the charging ports on all their phones to be like the USB style port like the one on the razr. Is there any truth to this and if it is true, will Verizon begin selling the E815 as well as the V276 with the new port?? Thanks for any info.

I am new to this site and was referred here via BMW X5 world. I have Verizon and would like to use the new E815 pairing it to my BMW X5 which has the Motorola -114 module.

Has anyone attempted to pair the E815 with an '05 BMW X5. I know that Verizon screwed with the Object Exchange in the V710 but the X5 world forums state that the later -114 Motorola module worked for phonebook transfer with a software update in the V710.

I hope the new 815 will transfer the phonebook to the cars module without a hassle.

I'm not a phone guy so any info in layman's english would be truly appreciated.

Anyone else notice evdo seems to be turned on here in SF bay area? works pretty good with a long initial connect. Anyways hopefully the battery will last longer now!

I just bought an e815. My brother sent me a picture of himself, and I would like to link it to his contact information in my phone. How can I save the picture of my brother in my phone so I can do this?

I take a 18 second clip of an mp3 file and email it to my phone. I make sure the file is less than 12 characters and is less than 300k. When I attach it to an email and send it to my phone it is an of mp3 format. When it gets to my phone and I save it to my phone it reads qcp file and I am not able to set them as ringers. Help?? What am I doing wrong. Why does my phone read the mp3 and say it's a qcp file???? Anyone suggestions are welcome. thanks.

I am thinking of exchanging 8100 for 815. I think the 8100 has about 32mb memory and 2mb of it are for ringtones. Anybody know how much of the 815's memory is usable for rintones?

Using my 5th E815 and so far the best built one with no real issues to speak of except for the famous echo.

Here is what my friend and I discovered.

I was talking to him using my Logitech Mobile Freedom and E815, he heard echo on his end and I heard a poping noise on my end.

Turned off the E815 and turned on my Nokia 6230 from Cingular using the Logitech headset I called him back and the call was crystal clear on both ends.

E815'S SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

🙄 Ok, I just want to make certain that I understand the posts regarding the E815’s “missed call” (RECENT CALLS) notification. Per your posts, if the phone in ON and I miss calls:

-The outside display will show the “recent calls” icon ONLY – no total for # of calls missed
-The inside display will show the “missed calls” icon ONLY – no total for #of calls missed, telephone numbers or names
-To view the total number of missed calls, or to view the telephone number of the last missed call and any other missed calls, one has to navigate through the “RECENT CALLS” menu.

Am I correct? 🙄
