verizon 'network unavailable' message

i seem to get an inordinate number of "network unavailable. Please try again later" when i try to access yahoo email/internet/etc on the e815. I'm in a major (NY) metro area and have experienced this all over the place. i estimate i get access 1 in 10 tries.

i've called verizon and the service reps don't have much to say. i believe the problem started after i cancelled the intro comeon for vcast and changed to the $5 plan for net access (can't recall what they call it). i did a #228, but that didn't help.

any ideas/suggestions? thanks

1 Gb memory card now available

😁 SanDisk 1GB miniSD Card
(SKU: SDSDM1024A10) at www.sandisk.com and it has links to vendors that have them in stock.

Now will someone buy one and let me know if it really works in the E815? 😉

Video conversions

I am currently using Nokia Media Converter for my video conversions, but the sound quality is horrible on music videos. Anyone have a good converter that lets you keep the audio quality at 128 Kbps???

E815 Wallpaper

I noticed in the E815 manual, it says you can use screensavers as wallpaper. When I try to do that, the wallpaper is NOT animated, it just shows the first frame. Is there anyway to get animated wallpaper?

Also does anyone know how to create a screensaver for the phone? I am guessing they are just animated .GIFs, but I do not know what frame rate, how many frames, color, etc.

I also noticed some people saying you can send up to 9 wallpapers through one PIX message...does it matter how many KB the files are, and can the same be done through email to the phone? Is it cheaper to send through a place like funformobile.com?

Thanks! 😁

NOT ALL MP3's TRNASFERRED FROM COMP SHOW TO PHONE, WHY????????? Is it Track Name Length?

What's happening everybody.

Does anyone know why not all my mp3's show in the sounds folder from my 256 mb transflash card???

I have ALL 42 tracks showing on my Motorola SD Card Reader transferred from my computer and they ALL play fine with Winamp on the comp, but when I put the card into the phone only around 32 show up in the the sounds folder.

I noticed that when I put the tracks in the sub-folder "audio" under "shared" EVEN LESS tracks show up, and when I put the MP3's outside of all the preloaded folders, more show up but not all of the tracks? When I put the TF card back into my reader o

Does anyone know if it had to do with the tracks name or number perhaps, cuz I know it is not a filesize issue. Some of my larger (12 MB...

if your battery lasts only 1 day or so, read this!!

i had the problem where my battery only lasted 1 day before i had to recharge it and i was recharging it everyday. i had the flashing 1x and EV and i never turned it off. i exchanged my e815 phone for a new e815 anyway, and of course i still have the flashing 1x and EV, but my battery lasts for days now, with talking on it and playing with the camera and all.

so, in short, if your battery is dying after only one day of not heavy useage, i suggest not turning off the 1x and EV flashing, but instead exhange your phone for a new one. this could be a widspread problem/defect with the e815 and have little to do with the 1x anbd EV flashing even though you have almost all gotten results by turning the flashing off. that's just my suggestion, b...

2.5mm adapter question

Does the e815 phone need a specific model adapter to work? I purchased a
Philmore stereo adapter 2.5mm plug/3.5mm jack to listen to mp3s but when I plug my earphones in, I only hear sound coming out of one earphone. Sorry if this is a repost; I searched but couldn't find anything. Thanks.

announced caller

Hello, I recently switched to the E815 from the 8100. I am much happier with the overall performance of the E815, however the LG8100 did have one option that I really want. I use a blue tooth car kit, and never take my phone off of my belt. When a call comes in I cannot see the caller ID from my belt. The 8100 had a feature that announced the caller that you could set as a ringer. IE "incoming call from Charlie brown". the E815 does announce all the names in your phone book so my question is....can it be set to announce the caller as a ringer? Is there any software that can be added to provide this feature? Thanks for the help!

The Bluetooth range on this phone is great!

I had my phone sitting on a table in my front hallway and it was connecting up to my headset- (which was sitting on the other side of the wall, in the glove compartment in my car).

If I moved the phone another two feet, it would disconnect and if I moved it back it would pick up the headset.

I never had that type of connectivity with another bluetooth phone offered by Verizon.

VZW's Mobilweb and bookmarks

Does anyone know how to "bookmark" a site onto your home page without typing in the enormous web page address. There has to be an easier way then this. The web is neat, but this is a pain in the @ss.

Transferring Information Between Bluetooth Handsets

Hello, I'm currently the unhappy owner of the LG VX-8100 who is having MANY problems with this phone. The main issue is fluctuating volume that renders the phone pretty much useless if you're trying to have a conversation with someone. There's supposedly a software update in the works, but I've heard many different opinions from different Verizon employees as to when it's actually going to be available. Unfortunately, I can't wait for this update any longer. I've gone ahead and ordered a Motorola E815 (had to pay full retail for it, but I needed a phone that actually works), and was wondering if there was a way to "wirelessly" transfer my contacts and calendar entries from the LG over to the Motorola. Given that both phones have Bluetoo...

Blocking A Certain Phone Number

Is there a way to block a certain phone number from calling in?

I've had my number for several years. During this time I've have a certain number that keeps calling my number. It belongs to an elderly couple who obviously have it on speed dial for the previous owner. They accidentally call often, so I get voice mail filled up with a very long and boring "eavesdropping" message. I have called and asked them to please remove my number from their speed dial because I am hearing things probably meant to be private. I think maybe they don't understand what I am asking, or just don't know how to do it.

I have scanned the manual but didn't find this feature mentioned. Any ideas about how to block this number?

Thanks

any news about a software/firmware update?

has there been anything said about a software/firmware (not sure which one it's called) update yet? there seems to be a handful of problems, like with the speakerphone, so an update should be available in the near future.

voice recognition???? driving mode??

I have recently switched to a Motorola e815 from an LG phone. I had voice recognition and driving mode on my old phone. Does the Motorola E815 have that???

Additionally, the banner that displays on the main screen...I have put my name on it, but it seems to be switching from VERIZON WIRELESS to my name...is there a way to make it only show my name?

Thanks!

SKN6311 vs. AAKN4011A USB cables

I ordered -- from a seller on eBay -- what was described as the "SKN6311" USB cable, and the MPT software.

The software was version 2.x which I was able to update to 3.25, so I have no problem there. However, it turns out the cable in the package is actually the "AAKN4011A" cable. It's USB, and the other end fits my Motorola E815 fine. However, it's not the exact cable I ordered.

Some Google searches don't turn up much info, but some dealers who sell the SKN6311 say that it "replaces AAKN4011A data cable."

Does anyone know if there are any significant differences between these two cables? I don't really care if they're the same, but if I got shafted I am going to be angry.
