Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood

Hey all. My V710 (3rd one so far) is F'd, random resets, disconnects, swaps into analog while having full digital ability, etc etc.
My current one is an insurance phone, so have to deal with them... After 2 weeks of being told the phone is out of stock, and getting ot the point where the phone is almost unuseable, I called Verizon and chatted with them about it, got the lady to call the insurance and they chatted for a bit, told they will be calling to talk about an E815 upgrade since its the only phone they offer that has TF, BT, etc...

Before biting the bullet and having the E815 sent instead of waiting for the V710 to be in stock, I have some questions.

1. Are the batteries the same? I have the extended battery for the phone, will ...

anyone know how to make the ringtones louder?

Okay, I thought of this before, but gave up once I enabled OBEX, but does anyone know if there's any online email site that supports WAP and sending file attachments in emails? I know Yahoo and Hotmail which Verizon would like you to use only let you send text emails, but if there was one that worked in the mini browser you could email pictures and only be charged for airtime or whatever your plan entails when using mobile web.

Maybe WAP doesn't support it, but wouldn't it be cool if you could?

Has anyone found a way to scroll or jump one "page" or "screen" at a time when going through the contacts?

If you have 20 or 30 "S" names, going one by one is pretty slow.

Some of the other phones allow you to hit the right or left button and it will jump one screen at a time. This one doesn't.

Anyone found a way to do it with this phone?

I did some research on the earpiece volume issue, and found this very helpful post from the V710 forum. Apparently that phone had the same problem. I tried the steps below, and even though Volume 5 through 7 still sound tinny, it helped with the lower volumes. Volume level 4 is now adequate for noisier environments. I really think that Motorola should have left out volumes 5 through 7 on the e815. Per steps below, I set my audio level to 15. SEE BELOW. Hope this helps redeem our e815! I just noticed that my phone creaks on the bottom where the microphone is located and has a little play between seams. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is this normal? I still love my phone, this is minor, I just don't want to be the only one with a creaky phone. 😁

You do have to register, but it's free, and the site has everyone you've ever heard of and many thousands you haven't. All the MP3's are 30 seconds for those of us too lazy to edit them ourselves. I've used the site for quite a while now to check out artists before I buy their CDs. I hate to sound like an advertisement, but it is a very cool site, especially for ringtone purposes.

-Also, do you have to keep hitting the right side voice button each time you want to give it a voice command? (ie, it doesn't seem to stay activated after each command)

Doe anyone have compatibility info on whether the E815 will work with the Moto Professional Install HF kit that Verizon has been installing?

I have the HF kits in two cars and am using T730s on them. I'd like to get a new hangup cup and resuse the installs since the cables look identical.

Moto and Verizon can't give me specifics. Only that a "tech" must "look" at the install. The techs can't tell me what they need to look for.

Are there any web sites where you can get videos compatable for the e815? Is there a program to convert your existing videos to make them compatable? Any web links would be appreciated. Thanks.

All the Verizon stores in the DC area are out of stock of the E 815, so I ordered it on-line this past Wednesday, July 13. As of today (Friday) my order status is stil pending. Anyone out there tell me how long it took to get your E 815 from the on-line store?????

OKay, I got my phone last week & it is the BEST phone ever!! I love it. I didn't really buy it to surf the net or to use the new Vcast features. But now I'm enjoying the speed to access the INTERNET & may want to keep the features.

My question is that I am not sure if my Vcast is working or enabled. I know that I have it (live in NYC) & the "EV" show up on my signal strength. Can someone tell me how I can see a video clip? I am concern that maybe my software wasn't updated or something. My moble Web works well, but where is the Vcast content?

I just got my 815 and have been reading up on the tips and tricks to get maximum usability. What are seem edits? Why do we use them and how do they work? and how do I know if I need to do it on my phone?

There is rumors out there saying there is going to be setlement for the people who bough v710.

There are three options:

a)$25 credit for the service.

b) returned v710 for full credit if you have receipt or $200 if not, continue vzw serice and purchase another phone with same price as if was new contract.

c) return v710 for full refund if you have receipt or $200 if not, cancel the service without cancelation fee.

For those of already cancelled service before the settlement, you will get your cancellation fee back.

Eligibility of the settlement is for those of you purchased v710 before 01/01/2005.

was anybody able to sync with the mac or transfer files via bluetooth with this phone?

I know I saw this issue somewhere but after a search, I couldn't figure what the real answer was. I just bought a Trans card and formatted it in the phone and took a few pix.

I placed it in a 12-in-1 caed reader with the adapter and brings up the new drive on my PC. I double click on the drive and it brings up 2 folders...Motorola and Moble. Moble has an empty skin folder but the Motorola has 8 folders. One of which is a Shared folder. Double clicking on it reveals folders for pictures, video, ringtones, mixed media, and audio. Double clicking on pictures shows the pix that I took.

When I drag and drop pix from my PC into the folder I can see that they are there. When I put the Trans card back in my phone and go to media gallery > pict...

Went to edit the banner for external.. and must of did something wrong but the phone afterwards turned on but had no service.. now the phone wont turn fully on.. just goes to the opening thing and just keeps blinking... and the computer wont recognize it while its off to change anything..is there anything i can do??? please.. need help

I traded my 815 today for the 8100 (no hate mail, please). I have to say I may have made a mistake! I'm not a huge phone buff and just found out about this site from a verizon rep (but can't get enought of it!). I have to say, the only reason I traded it was because the clarity was very poor. I'm coming from an old-school samsung a530. The phone was a little small but had great call clarity. Anyway, I'll have to admit that the 8100 has better call clarity - which is very important to me - but that's about it. The navigating through the menu is a hassle and the phone seems very slow! What I'm wondering is: do you think I may have just gotten a poor 815? Everyone one here says how great the clarity and reception is. The reception on ...
