where is the service menu on this phone and what is the security code?

on the other phones i can manually put in a wap proxy's ip and then i can use wap without going through verizon's.

If I were to connect to a E815 via Moto usb cable to my PC and use it as a USB modem (as I can with my V710) what kind of speeds will I get?

With the V710 I was getting horrible old school modem speeds 9600 to 14.4

If I am in an EV-DO area can I get a high speed connection to my PC?

get the E815. I have until this upcomming monday to decide. I am not to informed really on the seem editting and all however does anyone think transfering mp3s ,etc from the trans card will been enabled eventually on the E815? This is my main interest along with the battery life compared to the V710. I realize the repetetiveness of my question on this forum however any input would be appreciated. I am aware of the other forums containing the edit for the V710 but in the near future will similar info come out about the E815. Thanks.

I have some questions about this phone. I have had T-Mobile for the past year. I have the motorola v300. It is horrible. I never have more than 2 bars at home, and i have 0 at work. so about 80% of my time is spent being annoyed with my phone. Sometimes I hear eachos, sometimes people can't hear me, but i hear them, so that makes conversations difficult. The reception is just not clear, especially outside...no make that just anywhere.

I am hesitant to get another motorola but i have been told this is not motorolas problem, it is tmobiles because they have like 1 tower or something. and verizon has 3. so im going with verizon. today i plan on getting the e815. I just looked at the phone and it seems awesome. Sleek and lightweight. I would buy it if I could use full BT. Its just BS that VZW crippled the phone. Can anyone tell me whether a novice (like me) can hack around the BT limitations?

I live is PA and work in Newark, I got the phone last night and could get V-cast in my apartment. But this morning to show off the phone I went to get a clip and it didn't recognize the code or something like that. It just didn't me get to any v-cast stuff.

Anybody have a similar problem not being able to get v-cast when not in you home area. Is is there a problem with the v-cast in Delaware.

Went to Circuit city today and with the new "every two" program this phone was free! The every two program is two year contract and after the two years you are entitled to a new free phone or up to $100.00 toward a new higher priced phone. The phone is $149.00 w/2 year activation and you also get a $50.00 rebate good now - August 28,2005. I only buy a phone once every 2-3 years so the timing of this was perfect. Verizon is the the only service that works inside the building where I work. I know there is no other carrier for me. So I have no problem signing a two year contract. I could be wrong, but I remembered reading something in the NYTimes.
Yet I am reading posts here tonight of many of you saying the BT is crippled on the 815.

If that's the case you've got some big balls Verizon.

By the way, thanks to all of you who have posted info on all of the seem edit information. Even though my USB cable is still in the mail, I do plan on enabling a ton of features on my phone. If there is anyone who knows of a step-by-step site I could go to since this is my first time doing this, that would help me out alot. For those of you also with this phone, I have a question. Has anyone figured out the ringtone size/length limit on them? I've heard 300k/30s, but I just wanted to make sure when I'm making some custom mp3/mid files. Thanks 🙂

I am so excited. I hope to get it on July 10th. That's my birthday! I am sooo excited. I ordered it online (of course) it was free with a 2 yr commitment. 🙂 I was going to switch My VZW line to Cingular, but they just don't seem to get it together and release the Moto A630. If they decide to release the A630 soon I'll have to carry 4 cell phones. So far I have the V551 (Cingy) the upcoming E815, and a T-mo A650. I am so happy, I can't wait to get my new phone.

I ordered the hs850/motbt850hs bluetooth headset. I really like its features but geez, it seems like the thing barely sits on your ear. Anyone have another suggestion for a different headset? Maybe I have small ears....

Does the Motorola e815 have the red bars on top and bottom of main screen like the LG VX-8000 VCast phone? A Verizon Rep told me yes, but screenshots I've seen indicate otherwise. Can the bars be changed or removed? Thanks 🙄

It seems like AOL email addresses are blocking pix sent from verizon, at least from my e815. Test messages are ok and AOL is fine getting pictures from elsewhere so it must be the [email protected] address.

AOL wanted the vzn system adminstrator to contact their mail hub engineer or something like that so VZN said ok.

Anyone else with related issues?

Why does this crap happen to me?

Ok, so... I had my heart pretty much set on getting this phone when I was able to get a plan with Verizon (October 3rd couldn't come soon enough....), but some of what I have read is beginning to give me doubts. Ironically, none of the problems seem to be in the phone. It seems to be an A+ phone that Verizon has deliberately and maliciously crippled, in multiple ways. I'm still going with verizon, as I want a phone that Works, consistently, and has great CS, and reasonable plans, and Verizon offers that, but man, that sucks.

So, let's go through a full listing of known issues, and let's see if I can't get straight whether this is better or worse than the v710.

Appearance: e815 wins. No backlight between keys is a +, I like the look...

Boy, there sure are alot of differing opinions on the e815. I understand it has only been out a few days. I hope its a better phone than I seem to be hearing. I just ordered the e815 yesterday and should be getting it today or tomorrow. I hope it does a good job. I just basically want a newer phone with a good bluetooth system. If the e815 doesn't work well, I just hope the lg8100 comes out before the end of my 2 weeks trial period. Atleast maybe I'll have an option that way.
