Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood

has voice dialing changed from the 710? the 710 you had to say name dial etc. I was in hopes the 815 would allow you to say call jim smith at home or cell or office and so on thanks for your help

The supposed "nation-wide release" isn't so. My local store DOESN'T have this phone! The girl I talked to didn't even have a release date or know anything about it. I had spoken with the store manager (I think) this AM, he knew about it, said he thought it looked like a good phone and even knew some of the features (though he has a V710).

It's alright though, I'll order it through the site and get one of my other lines a V265 for free after rebates.

I plan on getting the holster only initially, may add the BT headset, desk charger, TF card and extended battery at some point.

I thought I would share my thoughts on the e815. I was lucky enough to find a Verizon Rep at a Circuit City store in Lewisville, Tx that sold me one. I only took it because he reassured me he would not be in trouble.

First, I had the VX8000 and traded it in for the e815 (first 14 days). The LG is a good phone, but the call quality and reception were not up to par. Also, I don't mind large phones, but that thing's a brick.

Second, the keyboard is WAY better on the 815 compared to the 710. The numerical keys are all about the same size and are large enough for my fat fingers. The directional pad could be larger, but it's not really a problem.

Can you attach a photo taken by the phone to email, such as aol?

If not, what is the next EASIEST way to get a photo from the phone onto a computer?

I have a Lexus 430 and am going to get the E815. I know Verizon has had Motorola cripple the bluetooth and you cannot transfer the phonebook from the phone.

The question is...

can you transfer your phonebook over a bluetooth connection via a bluetooth computer connection? If so, do you need the Motorola Phone Tools? If it can be done, how???

Seems like there are different options for the Bluetooth headset - is there one anyone would recommend? Should I buy it from Verizon or can I get a better deal elsewhere?

If I decide I don't like the E815 (sorry!) and decide to exchange it for the LG8100, I can still use the same Bluetooth headset, right?

Was just wondering...my wife uses aim to send me text messages using my mobile number only( I dont have to be signed on to aim) It used to work fine but know since I got the e815 I get an error message that the delivery to my phone failed. Any suggestions or anyone else have that problem. Oh..it works fine when I sign on.

My phone just went off with a text message alert...2 new messages. One of them was from 3pm yesterday, what's up with that?

Anyone of you special people who have the E815, please let me know if the ringer volume is loud enough to hear? In the past Moto has had low ringer volume and Im half deaf and it was a real problem for me. Thanks. 🤭

Okay so I know there was a few threads going on the other day about speculation on the MP3 and Speakerphone functionality. I just picked up my e815 about 2 hours ago. I've yet to put any MP3's on the phone. However if anyone who already has this phone - could you please tell me you if you have been successful as using an MP3 as a ringtone or using the speakerphone when the phone is closed. If you have been successfull with either of these - please explain how you do this.

Just went to verizon wireless website & found the e815 for $99 with a free v265

I have the new E815 and want to sync it to my computer, (to transfer contacts and what not). Has anyone else been able to do this? Is there new software out there?

I have the cable and version 3.1 of truesync.

For people still waiting to buy the phone. I seem to hear a lot of myelf with the handset when on a call. Everything else seems great, decent speaker phone too!

I am comparing the E815 to an original version (no upgrade) V710.

Besides the phonebook problem, there were other shortcomings from the V710 that have been fixed in the E815.

AUTO: Lexus LS430 or GS 430

1. Incoming call - phone did not ring and dashboard/car did not ring. E815 - the phone now rings!

2. Signal strength meters did not show anything with the V710. E815 - signal strength meter now display signal strength.

For the Lexus bluetooth functionality, all seems to work except phonebook transfer which will require OBEX. I believe I will have to borrow a full compatible phone to get a phone book into the car.

So far - - 2 hours with the E815 - - I am pleased.

I was wondering if you guys can answers my questions since it seams that both of you are well informed about this phone:

1- I want to put some pictures that I already have on my pc to use as wallpaper and photo ID in the e815 can I do that? I can with my 7000 through bitpim. Do I need to buy a cable and what software will it work with?

2- About storing mp3s. I know that they cannot be used as ringtones but we can input them on a memory card by changing the files name to .mid is that correct? This might sound stuiped but any memory card that we use for digital cameras will work right?

3- Currently I Sync my phone book with QuickLink offered through verizon can I do that if I buy the USB cable and load the drivers? if so where can I f...

Can you tell me how the volume on the earpiece compares to the V710?

So while both the V710 and E815 support BREW, there are way more games and programs available to the V710 when you go into Get-It-Now than when I try on my E815. Is that just because the network doesn't know what the phone is yet and figures it can't play them, or is there something the E815 doesn't support?

I had my hopes set on Tetris as soon as I got a color phone with BREW finally, up from my V60 but apparently I'll have to just watch more Sesame Street clips on V-Cast to pass the time

Does anyone else have a problem using get it now on there E815?? For some reason there is only one true tone company on my phone and thats the Verizon one. I dont see sony music box or MIDI Ringtones anywhere unders Get Tones. I have far less options than with my old phone. Is this just my phone or is everyone else faced with the same problem?????
