How is the e815- to anyone who has it

Now that some people have it - How is the e815? Any first impressions? I've heard Motorola has had some quality issues over the past 2 years. If this is the same level of quality - I may wait for the LG vx8100.

Please let us know what you think - those of you who have gotten them already!

Thanks

Stupid Circuit City

So I called my local Circuit City today and the second menu choice is for Verizon Wireless...the guy answers and when I ask if they've gotten the E815's in yet he says yes right off. I ask him when they go on sale and he says "now." So I head over to check it out and perhaps buy one. The guy at the counter shows me a dummy model and then pulls out a box with the phone in it.

I try to buy it, and the HS850, and he can't find the price listing in the system. After calling vzw headquarters and talking to a few dozen people he comes back to me and says that the launch date isn't until July 5th and so he can't sell it to me. >😲

So dispite someone saying they would, apparently this guy was too dumb to even sell it to me by accident. G...

V710 Price Expected To Rise!

I was informed by Verizon Customer Service today that the V710 price drop was just for a limited time and they plan on raising the price of the V710 back up real soon. So anyone who wants the V710 should get one while its at the price its at.

I examined the E815 today at Verizon

I visited one of the local Verizon stores today and asked the salesman about whether he has yet received the E815. He said it just arrived and he was in the process of unloading the box. Although he cannot sell them until July 5, he opened a box for me and let me examine one. From my cursory examination, I liked what I saw. Compared to the V710:

1. The keys were better laid out on the E815 than on the V710 and had that definite "click" when a number is punched, which is missing on the V710.

2. The charging port is the same as on the V710.

3. The phone felt very substantial and easy to hold in my hand. The keys were easy to use.

4. The phone is attractive and shaped nicely.

The salesman also confirmed that the VX8100 will be re...

Available through B2B Website

Just ordered the phone through the B2B website for $49.99. Can't use the NE2 credit, but its free shipping so I'll roll over on that. Website described the OBEX as disabled, FYI.

Placed at least a dozen calls to the local Verizon retail and CC stores in and around Baltimore, Md., to see when the phone would be available. Answers ranged from "soon" to "this week" to "next month" to "don't know anything about that phone." With a combined IQ of 7, these agents kowtowed to corporate will and were as ambiguous as one could hope for.

Regardless, should have the phone in 2-5 days.

Circuit City

I called 3 Circuit Cities in NYC and they all have them but are not authorized to sell them, one store said July 3rd and the rest said that they did not know.

I called 4 Circuit Cities in NJ and 3 of them said they did not have it and 1 said they have it but are not authorized to sell it until the 5th.

I am about to throw my LG out the window.

Bluetooth Protocol Version

This question has been poking me in the side since I first heard about this phone. I have an HS-810 BT headset, and It is v1.1 and so was my v710. I bet you, and hope so, that I am right, but I think the e815 is backward-compatible with v1.1, since the phone itself is the newer version, 1.2.

If anyone can confirm this, please do so. I am worried I paid $100 for the BT headset, and used it for 3 days, before I returned my v710.

e815 price

If you can't make it to a circuit city and you have a business account then you can order the phone through there. It is 49.99 with a two year contract. However you can't use a NE2 or anything.

Amazon.com - Any Ideas?

Does anyone have an idea when they will start selling the phone??? They always have good prices on new released phones and they always have good rebates. Like you can purchase the v710 for $175 and get $200 in rebates back... making $25. Does anyone have an inside info about amazon?

Thanks

Verizon Stores Already Releasing E815

Where im at its a flip flop situation from everyone else. Circuit City wont release the phone until July 5th but the actual Verizon stores, booths, and services centers have already started selling the E815 instead of waiting until July 5th or even instead of waiting until July 3rd for that matter.

Circuit City Just Sold me the e815 & It's free with the$50 rebate

Thanks to Texasag03 I called the Circuit City in Southlake, Tx(not far from Lewisville). They said they have 3 left. I went right over & they sold me the phone. The phone, bluetooth headset, car charger & leather case only cost $162.39. They also gave me a $50.00 mail in rebate, which means the phone is free & I only paid for the accessories.

The rep at the store stated the phone offically goes on display for sale JULY 5. By the end of my sale he had only 1 left.

Good luck everyone in finding one. Remember it will not be on display until the 5th. I guess it depends on the Circuit City store in your area.

Thanks again TEXASAG03.

I am going to play with my new phone now!!

Unblocking Bluetooth

Went to Circuit City in Richmond, VA and they showed me the 815 and confirmed they will begin selling it on 7/3. When I complained about bluetooth being blocked (not able to sync with my Powerbook), the sales rep said that I can take the phone to one of their stores and have a technician unblock the bluetooth. When I was skeptical, the rep got the area manager to come over and confirm. I just called the closest store with a repair center and they also confirmed that they will unblock the bluetooth capabilities. I'll let you know Sunday.

e815 headset

Is it best to just get one of the two Motorola headsets that Verizon has in the store or look elsewhere? And what are the advantages to one of those over the other. (820 and 850). Also, the Verizon store said they sell an accesory package with headset, case, and car charger but at the Circuit City store they said you just buy the pieces separately. Does that make sense? Anyway, why would I need a case?

BTW, at my local circuit city they said July 3. I asked if they had them yet....'no'. You mean...they will be delivered on Saturday to sell on Sunday? 'yes' Well what if I come late on Saturday, near the end of the day, could I buy one? 'no, we already got in trouble from our manager for trying to sell one today' OH...you mean ...

Did they fix the search function for 2nd character???

Dont know about you guys but I have about 500 names in my phone (A670).. I have alot of Mikes and Marks and just overall I guess alot of names start with S and T etc..

So on the Samsung, When I go into phone book looking for mark, I hit m and then a and it sorts the names in that order. On the 710 I had last year it only looked up by first char. Which is a total disaster..

I hope they got this right this time
