Just curious if those having problems also messed with "MENU 0"

I have not, fortunately, had ANY of the problems that others have mentioned (knock on wood), but keep reading posts about doing different things with "MENU 0" and also in some of those posts, ppl saying "do it at your own risk", so just curious if those having problems have gone into this hidden menu option and somehow it affects their phones????

Just talked to a Verizon Tech...MP3 issues and possible fix.

1st: This phone has generated a huge forum here. If I re-inform on anything...to bad! I will NOT go through every link to see if something I write here is doubled somewhere else.

That being said...

I was told that Verizon disabled the MP3 features pre-shipment. It will be enabled IF-WHEN Verizon starts its MOD (Music On Demand).
I was also told to go to this website and read the forums. Hinting of possible fixes???

The LG VX8000 has this same problem (so I've read)

With that being said. Try this...a link I've found on here describing steps they've taken to get MP3's to play on the 8000:

Using a data cable and Bitpim, I loaded full-size MP3 files into a certain directory on the VX8000 using Bitpim. If there are no MP3 files l...

Updates

How do we find out or how are we informed about software updates? Should I just keep checking the forum, does verizon send out emails, etc.? Thanks.

Bluetooth issues - here's a new one...

I have the Motorola HF820 speaker paired with my 8100. It worked fine for less than a week. All of the sudden, it won't place a call via voice recognition. It recognizes the command, recognizes the numbers (if I'm using digit dial), but when I confirm the number or name, the phone hangs up. If I use just the built in 8100 speaker, it works fine - the problem only arises when the bluetooth device is connected.

Anyone else have this problem either with the speaker or a bluetooth headset?

I just reported the problem to Verizon. They were VERY nice about it and are looking into it. If you have the same problem, please call them and log the problem as well.

Thanks

BEFORE YOU BUY A BLUETOOTH STEREO HEADSET

Bluetooth v1.1 does not support stereo audio out, this I know to be 100% correct. And I believe (as told by another user, so don't quote me on it) that is what the phone is, and according to the bluetooth profile chart it does say mono only which would support this info.

Just wanted to mention this since there are numerous threads posted about deals on Bluetooth stereo headsets. Wanted to put this out there so if any of you are considering buying one, you may want to check into it further BEFORE you spend the money to make sure.

Does anyone know when this is going to be released or if it has been already?

If so, where can you get it?

Returned Phones

Can anyone tell me what happens to the 8100's that are returned to the stores? Do they just go back out to new customers or are they returned to LG? Sorry everyone has had problems with the phone we've all waited so long for... Think I'll try the Samsung SPH-A800.

Best way to get pics to phone?

Is there a guide somewhere for sending pics to the 8100?

I've got a couple pics I'd like to set as a wallpaper, but not sure what size I should make them, or the best method to get them into the phone.

As of now, I have no USB cable.

Any help would be appreciated.. thanks! 🙂

Camera Delay

I know it's annoying when people post the same thing over and over but I've only seen this one other time in this forum with no resolution.

There is a delay between the time when you click OK to take a picture and when the picture is actually recorded. I want to see if anybody else can duplicate this.

If I click OK to take a picture on my phone the frame will freeze the exact moment I press the button with the shot I wanted...a second or two will pass and it will freeze the frame again and actually record the picture. By that time the subject has already moved and the moment was lost.

Anybody else experience this? Are there any fixes? I've tried messing with resolutions and zoom and nothing makes a difference.

Taking Two Pictures (was Camera Delay)

Seems like it's an intermittent problem.

I just took a dozen pictures with flash and camera worked fine for the first ten, then it started taking a second picture by itself before I could save the first.

I turned the flash off and it didn't matter - it was still taking the second picture.

Memory ????....

Does the phone only hold a certain number of photos? Cause it says phone memory full when I try to take a picture ( i have 37 pictures now). But when I go to the tools and check the memory usage it shows that I have only used 4,189KB - with 28,037KB available? Do i need a memory card (I wouldn't think so, since I have that much memory available? I thought this thing held 100 photos!!

Phone Booster?

I went to the "Shop" (which is right next to the Forum) on Phonescoop and saw something called a "Universal Cellular Phone Booster Antenna". You put it behind the battery in the phone and it is supposed to give you better signal.

Anyone know if this kind of thing works?

MP4 to MP3 conversion

Does anyone know offhand of a good way to do this? I have about 245MB left on my Sandisk because my stupid songs are all in MP4 with the exception of a couple. They apparently need to be in Mp3 format before they can be renamed to something that will play in the phone.

Software reloaded

I spoke to an LG rep about the earpiece volume and she said to bring it to verizon and have them reload the software. Has anyone done this yet?

MP3 as Ringtones Size Allocation

Hi Guys,

I am new to register on the forum, but I've been looking at the posts for this phone almost for 6 months already. I got the phone yesterday, and I am still undecided whether to keep it. Overall, I am satisfied with the quality. I haven't hacked it yet, as I am waiting for the data cable in the mail.

However, the real question is that I was told that this phone allows ONLY 2 megabytes OVERALL for ringtones (whether in mp3 or midi or whatever format)

Can anybody confirm this? Also, did anybody find a way to turn MP3's into ringtones? I dont need a media player, but rather a normal ringer.

Thanks a lot in advance.

bitpim

I just got the 8100. Set up the bluetooth to work through my computer, and actually had it dial out and have no problem getting on the internet through it.

I also just downloaded bitpim, but I can not communicate with my 8100 at all. If anyone has had any success getting anything from it that would be great. I would really like to work with my phonebook and pictures through it.

Thanks for any help
