Uh-Oh Calendar!

Um, anyone else tried to set a recurring date in their calendar? I did, and it doesn't "recur". It will show up for ONLY the date I physically added.

For example:

Go to today's date (July 20th) or whatever date you prefer.

Set an event to recur monthly.

After saving, go to the next month and you will notice that event is not there (at least not for me).

Anyone else notice this?

Thanks for checking!

Easy way to get and play videos on your phone - No QPST

1. You have to convert your video to .3gp format (I will update this post with a free program and parameters for the movie)

2. Save it to your pc and email it to your phone ([email protected]) - you may have to try this a few times until you have full signal on your phone

3. Save the attached video

4. Got to My Flix and play

5. Viola!

PS - You can also use the videos as wallpaper on the front/main screen

Here's how to play MP3's directly from the SD card...

MP3's *can* be played directly from the SD card...just rename them to end in .qcp instead of .mp3 and place them in the 'My Sounds' folder on your SD card. Once that is done, just go to 'Get it Now', then 'Get Tunes and Tones', then 'My Sounds', where the .qcp files are now visible (and playable). I haven't found any limitation in file sizes...playing > 10MB files works just fine.

Unfortunately, I have no clue how to enable the front buttons on the phone. In addition, hitting *any* button while a file is playing will stop the player (this includes the volume buttons).

MP3 Player w/ MiniSD

I'm extremely confused with how the MP3 player works on this phone. Let's just say I have a 512MB MiniSD chip. What is required in order to use my phone as an MP3 player.

1.) Do I need to download any kind of software onto the phone?
2.) Do I just put the songs onto the card and press play on the front of the phone and it starts playing MP3z?
3.) How do you get the MP3z onto your MiniSD?

Pairing Bluetooth with other cell phones

Has anybody been able to successfully pair their bluetooth with another cell phone?

My phone was able to find two of my friends but when we tried to connect I received a message that it was not supported. The phones were recognized as Nokia 6230 and Samsung SGH-D500, however, they were both on the Cingular network .

Does anybody know if this feature will be supported in the future? I know we're able to connect to headsets and computers but what about other cell phones?

Thanks,

T

Full of It today...

I am full of questions today. What's the difference b/t a "pmd" and "mid". All tones downloaded from MIDIringtones are "pmd". All other tones (VZW Tones, Sony Music Box, Modtones) are "mid". I noticed this when I set a tone from MIDIringtones as my alarm tone and then set my Master Volume to "Alarm Only". Well, when the alarm goes off, there is NO sound. It ONLY does that for the MIDI tones. All others (default phone ringers and other downloaded ringers from other apps) work fine. Anyone know the difference w/ the file type?

Thanks!

Keeping mine too.

I went to verizon today and looked at the E815 and asked about a software update for the 8100. They said the volume issue was brought up and if it is reported more they will more than likely get a update for it. The E815 just feels cheap to me. I am sorry, but it does, The 8100 opens tight and smooth and feels Very solid to me compared to the E815. And once I found out about the charging port being the same ol motorola port, that did it.. No way will I ever go back to that again.. Everyone says the screen is bigger but when you play videos on it they just get cropped anyway.. so the big screen is not that impressive. I also say that the call quality is nearly the same as I found out the reveiver in both phones is made by the same compa...

Finally got a connection through Bitpim!!!!!

I have been fighting since the day I got this phone to get it to connect through Bitpim. I finally did it. I used the 6100 data kit and cable from Verizon that I had, set the PC connection in the phone to USB, pointed it to the LG USB drivers in Bitpim. Set it for other CDMA phone and chose the com that the LG USB phone was on. Boom, instant access to the file system. Woohoo, custom ringtones here I come!!!!!!!!!!!

4400 Question

I know this is the forum for the 8100 but I'm guessing some of you may have owned the 4400 at one point (and the 4400 forum is a ghost-town). How can I turn off the front light when the phone is charging in the cradle? My wife has it and its driving me nuts!

My opinion on the whole MP3 thing....

First I want to say that I do understand the frustration everyone has with the whole MP3 thing...I feel it too...however, we all need to look at this like mature adults. Did LG design this handset to play MP3's from the SD card and create a media player to support it? Yes they did. Did verizon "cripple" or hide the program within the software? Yes they did. Is this right for them to do? Well....on a customers stand-point, no, it's not right at all. On a business side of things, yes, it is absolutely right. The belief is that Verizon wants it hidden until they release their MOD (music on demand) service so we have to pay to download the songs. But look at it this way: once they do release the MOD service, we will probably be able to upload MP...

NO PROBLEMS AT ALL...

I guess everyone out there who is buying BT headsets, data cables, mini SD cards, etc., etc., has no problems at all with the phone... RIGHT??

I'm gonna wait until some of the problems discussed here are addressed by Verizon or LG before I sink anymore money into it!

We are all conjecturing about solutions, but we really don't know if there will be enough to fix all problems.

If it's a good phone, it should stand on its own, without having to re-manufacture it into a good phone by hacking!!!

So far, I love the phone. BUT I don't like the drifting volume problem, which could be enough to push me over the edge if it's not fixed...

I've only got 11 days left to make up my mind about the volume problem... 😡

VX8100 vs. E815

Since the VX8100 MP3 player seems to be disabled at the time, would you choose the E815 over the VX8100? The E815 MP3 player works just fine. I am trying to decide which phone to buy and I am looking for some advice. Please let me know what you think?

HELLO PEOPLE! STOP ASKING THE SAME QUESTIONS OVER & OVER - THE ANSWER HAS BEEN POSTED MANY TIMES

I'm a little confused by all of the posts on here...some say it will read mp3s...some say it won't...so I'm here to set the record straight.

I have been able to copy MP3 files directly to my phone using a LG VX7000 data cable and software called QPST...or you could also use BITPIM. I have had no problems with the phone reading the .mp3 extension. However, it is probably best to follow the instructions and change the extension to .qcp for best compatibility with the phone. (you do this by going to tools/folder options/then select the view tab/then make sure HIDE EXTENSIONS FOR UNKNOWN FILE TYPES IS _UNCHECKED_!!!) Then go back to your mp3 files and just change the end of the file name to .qcp - very easy)

I have been able to transfer mp...

voice announcement through bluetooth

I noticed you can turn on the voice of who is calling to come out the speakers on the phone. I am wondering if it is possible to have that be sent through a bluetooth headset? When the phone rings, I get beeps through the headset, but the phone itself SAYS who is calling? That seems a little dumb, as it can communicate other vocal commands through the headset, but not tell you who is calling? Anyone find a way to get it to do this?
