LG VX-8100

i tried that media player trick where... you go to menu and hit 0 7 times. go to get it now, then media player/ that does not work at all. just wondering if anyone else has found a way to get around it to play music. i tried mp3, mid, wav files and nothing. any advice is welcome! 😎

When cropping photos to use for wallpaper on this phone, what is the "optimum" size to use? I've tried 176x220 and 120x160 for the Main Screen and 128x128 for the Front Screen. In both cases (probably because of those ugly-ass red bars), the screen is not entirely filled up (white space on either side). Anyone know what "aspect ratio" I ought to be using? Thanks in advance!

I have a bluetooth headset and have my phone's bluetooth setting to 'on'. When I have my headset on, the little bt icon on the phone turns blue. That's fine. When I turn my bt headset off, the icon turns white showing that it is not connected anymore, but the icon is still there. Should I turn my phone's bt setting to 'off' so the icon disappears? Am I draining the phone's battery by leaving the phone's bt setting 'on'? Thanks very much for your advice. Great forum!

Yeah!!!! Xringer is available on the 8100 now. I am about to bust. I know it makes me sound like an uber-nerd ( which I am not...would a nerd collect comics and have an entire room of their home dedictaed to their action figure collection??? huh??? ) but I can get my Star Trek sound effects ringtones now.

Two freeware programs to use instead of paying for quicktime pro and other software:

1. MediaJoin - combine music files into one

I combined 10 mp3s into one file easily

2. Super v1.783 - converts many formats of movies and music to 3g2 format.

a. I converted the 10 song combo into 3g2
b. I converted a 15 min video to 3g2

Settings:
Video: Size 176x144, FPS 15, bitrate 140, HQ

Audio: sampling 22050, channels 2, bitrate 64.

I then copied both files to MY_FLIX folder on my miniSD card. I then was able to play both files in Get it Now, MY FLIX area. Let me tell you how impressed I was with my video. It look great. I tried before with another program and it was all blocky (but it maybe because I didn't tweak settings) ho...

So i bought a 512 mini sd card and i have some mp3 saved on it. I know you cant use them for ringtones, but i was curious can you at least listen to your mp3s on your phone from the sd card or is that disabled also.

If this phone was offered by another carrier uncrippled and at the same time Verizon carries it- would you switch to the other carrier for it?

Just wondering so don't take it too seriously.

Hi! Did anyone figure out how to fix the volume problem? I changed the auto volume to "off" and Privacy to Standard, but my volume is really bad. On one call it was so low I could hardly hear and the next blasted me out.

I get the feeling every phone has this issue.

I presume the CNET raters of this phone must either be less demanding or very lucky (or perhaps certain Motorola employees have stayed away) - out of the last 14 reviews of the 8100 - it has received a 9 (out of 10) rating or better from twelve reviewers!

Anyone scared their speakers are gonna blow out?

from what the tech dept had said over the phone is that there is supposed to be a link in the my sounds to save as a ringtone. and that the phones that have a pic dissapearing after being taken is that there is a glitch in the programming with the phone all the rest of the problems there is a setting in the phone to fix it like volume going up and down for example... The mp3 player is not supposed to work yet until further notice but it is capable of working now with programming outside of verizon short terms it can be hacked other than that...

They are sending me a new Phone..

I had the 4500 prior to upgrading to the 8100, and it had the nice feature of sending a call directly to voice mail by hitting the outside button on the side twice. Is this feature no longer available? Is there no way to silence a call without opening the phone?

If Verizon "does" update there software for the phone, for an example "let us use mp3s as ringtones", does that mean we have to go to our nearest Verizon store to get the latest update or will the phone automatically have it?

Or, will this ever happen???

I cannot get Bitpim to recognize the 8100. My computer recognizes my phone via the bluetooth connection but Bitpim does not. Any help???

Does anyone know where I can get another "blue" sticker that covers the phone when u first open the box? I lost mine and I dont want to smudge the front of it 🙄

One of my video clips has disappeared, leaving the filename, which I mentioned before. Now when I deleted a different one, the filenames no longer correspond to the correct videos. the video I choose actually plays the one above it, and the first video listed thinks I am trying to get into VCAST.

Now that the phones have been out for a while - which phone is better?
