Connecting phone to PC

I know you need a USB data cable to connect the phone to PC but before I buy a data cable, I'd like to know where on the 8100 do I plug the usb? I can't seem to figure out where it'd plug in?

Odd note about sounds and ringtones

I was going through the phone sounds and ringtones and noticed that I have 5 sounds on my phone that used to be ringtones on my old phone, the VX7000.

Any ideas on why Verizon would take 5 ringtones and just make them available as only sounds to listen to?

Maybe an update would allow the sounds to be used as ringtones again?

I would think if such an update occurred then it would allow us to upload sounds to use as ringtones.

Lets see what happens with the phone in the future.

day 2 (long)

im really up in the air about this phone.
i definately love the feel of the phone compaired to the 8000. altho i like the button size on the 8000 better.

the 8100 camera just absolutely sucks. every picture ive taken inside with anything other then natural sunlight is just fuzzy. also the 8000 in my opinion has more camera settings.
i also dont like how the external and the internal screens are both on while taking pictures. i was trying to sneak a picture of my girlfriend while out at sushi and she could see plain as day i was taking a picture of her. the verizon leather case also blocks the camera when the phone is open.

as far as this mp3 player madness goes..i still cant believe this phone has 3 useless buttons on the front. im s...

FINALLY!

Just wanted to let everyone know...I have purchased a data cable for the vx8100 and have successfully transferred mp3s to my phone using the method described on this thread:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=673700 »

You don't need to chop your mp3 files or change the extension at all if you have a miniSD card, which I do. I have them on my phone in full length format.

It took me several hours to even get my computer to recognize the phone - but it was all well worth it.

This phone is definitely worth it...I'm only paying $50 for mine after rebates!!! Amazing price for such a versatile phone. The features are unsurpassed by any other phone, in my opinion. I also have had no problems with call clarity and haven't had any...

The freakin' battery

Well I called customer service to order the extended battery, and low and behold they don't have any. I really need one cause this battery on this thing drains faster than an empty septic tank. Anyone out there having the same problem

Who doesn't like the keypad feeling

I don't like the soft popping feeling of the keys. The rest is nice but I think the 7000 and 8000 have much better feeling keys 😕

Pictures

Is there any way of getting rid of pictures after you have saved then. Don't see an erase option.

Music & Video

Another way to play Video & Music:

I was only able to play 30 seconds of an mp3 song when putting the files in my_sounds directory on the mem card and renaming them *.qcp (i believe). This frustrated me so....

I went to try to put video on the phone and found this program Xilisoft 3GP Video Converter(supports 3GPP2) found on www.xilisoft.com.

I then converted one mpeg4 video and also converted a MP3 music file to 3g2 file format. I put both in the MY_FLIX folder on the Memory Card and then went to Get it Now menu and my FLIX. Voila! The whole MP3 music song played as well as the video when I tried that too. However the video was not as crisp as one I downloaded from VCAST.

If anyone has another program (hopefully free) that w...

Spent the day with the 8100 and my E815 - 30 Mile trip !

Okay boys - I was not going to write this , but I feel it my responsibilty to tell the world what's happening..

1st - You guys have to know that I am a huge Samsung guy.. A530 and A670 are my favorite phones ever. These phones are small and the voice quality is great and they never drop calls, but enough with that , we are onto Bluetooth, Speakerphones and Vcast and yes we all want this..

Well, having the 815 for 2 weeks , I have learned quite a bit of the phone and what it's downfalls are.. It's Positives outweigh the downs and make it quite a great phone and it's good for Moto to be back in the game..

8100 for the day -
I picked it up Wednesday and returned it Wed. night by 9PM.. No Sh%$T !

Why you ask ?

Earpiece Problem -...

Really enjoying tmy first bluetooth...

I am really enjoying my first bluetooth phone. Love having the hf820 car speaker so I just have to push a button on my visor and presto...speakerphone. No fumbling to get the phone out of my pocket while driving anymore for me. Is this the first bt phone for anyone else?

E815 on Sale

This sucks. I want the 8100, and yet VZW has the E815 on sale.

At the VZW stores (NOT the website), the displays show the retail of the E815 actually 10 bucks HIGHER than the 8100 --and yet, they're selling it (with rebate) at 50 bucks LOWER.

They're promo-ing the heck out of it as well --even on the tube.

Maybe they know it's the suckier phone.

P.S. New price plans out on Monday.

Which phone r u going to choose (MP3 player fans)

A question for all you guys who are belly aching that this PHONE is not a fully functional MP3 player or a laptop modem. I have seen several posts of people saying they will not buy this phone for that reason and I am just curious as to what phone you are going to buy that meets all these criteria.
