signal bars

What's the maximum number of signal bars you can have with this phone? I used to always get a maximum of 6 signal bars with my LG6000 but now it only goes up to 4. Is it because this phone is all digital and the LG6000 wasn't? BTW, I live in Queens, NY, if that means anything..

mp3's to qcp files work. Now, can we make folders?

Now that we know how to play mp3's, can we figure out how to make subfolders that the phone will recognize? (on the card). I haven't been able to. I have to put sounds in "my sounds", then they show up.

Mp3's are playable!! Off the card!! uncheck file extensions......

This is ALL from frigginmike.

"i took a song named like a stone.mp3 and renamed it to like a stone.qcp
put it on the card under the folder "my sounds"
go to get it now, get tunes and tones, and my sounds and play it."
Exactly how do you rename it some may ask, I did. Heres how.
"well if you are on windows xp you have to go into windows explorer...go to Tools on the menu bar..then to folder options. then go to view...and make sure you have the "hide extensions for known file types" UNCHECKED. click apply and then ok.
now you will see that the file type is song.mp3
right click on it and choose rename and change the mp3 to qcp"
This worked perfect for me hope it does for u. Its not a real mp3 player but better than nothing.

Dont get the lg vx8100 if u have motorola v710

There is rumors out there saying there is going to be setlement for the people who bough v710.

There are three options:

a)$25 credit for the service.

b) returned v710 for full credit if you have receipt or $200 if not, continue vzw serice and purchase another phone with same price as if was new contract.

c) return v710 for full refund if you have receipt or $200 if not, cancel the service without cancelation fee.

For those of already cancelled service before the settlement, you will get your cancellation fee back.

Eligibility of the settlement is for those of you purchased v710 before 01/01/2005.

for more info go this website where i found the info.

How do I get NEW wallpaper? I would use Get-It-Now, but unless I'm missing something, all they have is sports. I am on a mac. Know nothing about transferring files. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx. 😲 😲

Better in the dark...

Has anyone tried taking a picture in the dark with the camera's flash? Well, I tried last night and it actually came out! I know with other phones, pictures won't come out well at all (even just in low lighting) when using the flash. It's almost like the flash on some phones is useless. Well, not this phone! I was pleasantly surprised!

Camera Resolution Question...

This may show my lack of knowledge of cameras, but I've noticed (with my phone on the exact same settings) that one picture I took in one place came out clear as anything and another one I took later (in another place) came out a little grainy looking. The White Balance is set on AUTO, resolution 640x480, night mode off, and brightness is set in the middle). Could it simply be the lighting that would cause one to come out really clear and the other to come out grainy? Thanks!

www.mobileweb4u.com

anyone heard if it will work for the VX8100 soon?

also, once you pay the annual fee (which i think is REALLY low), do you have to pay for KB transfered or anything like that?

Mobile IM

I tried getting on AIM through Mobile IM and a very limited buddy list appeared (I dont even know how the buddy list names were chosen, seemed pretty random to me). Any trick to have your full list of buddy list contacts appear?

Also, am I correct in understanding that using Mobile Web is exactly like being on the phone as far as airtime goes? Ex. Being on Mobile Web on a Saturday doesn't count toward your anytime minutes?

Thanks...accessing AIM really isnt a big deal to me, I was just curious.

8100-Anyone having Voice/volume issues? Is there a work around?

I tried the 8100 in the store yesterday. Not sure if it was all the metal in Circuit City, but the volume was low even when the phone was on high for master volume and high for earpiece volume. Also, the volume seemed to go higher and lower during the call, although no problems in hearing me on the other end. Do you think it was the metal in the store, or that particular shipment or is this an issue folks are having with the phone?

Any suggestions on a work around? Is there a BT headset that can amplify or add additional volume?

Thanks for any advice. I loved the phone otherwise- Great Camera compared to others I've tried and great features otherwise--and definitely would be my first choice if I could figure out the volume issue-- TH...

What is Standalone Mode? Anyone?

There is a setting on the phone called "Standalone Mode". It's referenced on p. 45 of the manual, but the explanation does not make sense to me. Can anyone here clarify?

On the phone menu, go to Settings & Tools, then. #4 System, then #1 Standalone Mode. It's either on or off. It was set to off when I got my phone.

Thanks.

few questions

Hey all, new to this posting thing but been viewing the forums for a few weeks waiting for the 8100 to come out. I did get my hands on one this morning and been messing around with it a little bit in my free time. Although I haven’t had a whole lot of experiences with the phone or anything this high tech yet, I am very interested in learning about everything this phone can and can not do. I am disappointed that VZW did disable a few things and made others harder to activate but like some people have said it is a phone not an ipod and I know that. I have been wondering about a few things though on just where or what some things are.

First off I would like to thank the person who put the thread up about keeping the front lcd on all tim...

MEDIA PLAYER...

Does anyone know why the Media Player is hidden in the service menu and how on earth to delete a file (voice memo) from the Media Player. The media files do NOT show up under "My Ringtones" or "My Sounds".

Thanks!

What's with all the junk on this phone?

If you go to my sounds it gives you a list of stuff such as "train" "beethovens 5th" etc. On the LG 8000 those are ringtones but on this phone none of them can be used.

I'm deleting them out-- why do I want to email someone junk like this and besides it eats up memory.
