LG VX-8100

anyone have any luck finding the 8100 in seattle? or somewhere near?

I have just done a quick scan on this 8100 forum and so far you got "clarity issues, voice mail and blue tooth pairing problems, MPS and memory complaints, pic sending problems, plenty of ugly words thrown around like crippled, nuetered, bastardized, etc."

Sounds like the same mixed bag of complaints on the good ol' E815 forum. I don't think the 8100 is any more prone to problems than the E815, I think you got people that don't read directions, people who have unrealistic expectations of the what a cell phone can do, way to many quality control issues with cell phones in general and a bunch of immature kids posting on this forum.

Folks, here is the reality:

I was just on LG's website, and I saw the data cable for the 8100. They're selling it for $39.99. My bad if this info has already been posted.

Is anybody else having issues with the camera in the closed position? When I take a picture with the phone in the closed position, the picture does not save and continues to display "Please Wait" indefinitely. You must open and close the phone to reset to normal. This is the second phone I have had this issue with.... exchanged once before.

What number do I dial, what phrasing do I use? Arhhh... 🙄

I just got the phone last night and I'm still figuring it out. I am trying to get Picture ID to work, but for some reason it isn't. I have the picture id setting to 'on' and have attached some pictures to phone numbers, yet when I receive calls no picture shows up.

Any help?

Ok, verizons website doesnt seem to sell a data cable for the 8000, so im assuming that they wont sell an 8100 cable. I read that the LG vx7000 Data cable (BLACK ONLY) will work on this phone. Is this correct? And if so which drivers would I need, the same ones?

Just to let everyone know that is looking for the LG 8100 .... GO TO CIRCUIT CITY'S!!!! I got my phone yesterday at the Manchester, CT Circuit City, and they had two more instock! So those of you that need the phone like I did and don't want to wait until Friday give your local Circuit City a call!

It seems that LG, in its own press release, clearly believes that the vx8100 has an MP3 Player built in...

Accoring to Phonescoop specs the screen size of the 8100 and 815 are the same (176x220). Is this true? In other posts, people have complained about the 8100 having a small screen.

Will there be an extended battery available for the vx-8100 that is the same size as the normal one, or will all available extended batteries make the back of the phone stick out more?

I have been reading that this phone doesnt play mp3s. No problem - its a phone and not a mp3 player - fine. But what I really want is to be able to get more ringtones for it - maybe a little Ratt playing when the phone rings. 😛

I read the e815 forum said they just put their songs on the card, insert it into the phone and BAM instant mp3's to use for ringtones.

Please help - I love my vx-6000 and have had lots of good luck with it - so I really dont want to get the e815 if I can help it

I just talked to a Verizon rep here in Indianapolis that said the phone would be available Monday morning at 9:00, and no sooner. Any other folks out there hear that in their investigating?

i was reading how people were ordering it, so i thought, why not! i called 1-800- 2 JOIN IN, got "greg" on the phone, first guy i talked to from verizon even ABOUT this phone, i told him i was reading stuff on "other sites" (aka phonescoop and hofo), told him my contract is ending soon with cingular (they like to hear that) (which it really is), and told him i would like to go ahead and order the VX8100. he said, let me check the inventory, he said they have a couple THOUSAND in the warehouse (NOT LOW STOCK!), and bam, paid $9.99 more to overnight it, i'll have it tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I CAN'T WAIT!

i'll sell his extension number for $10.

This phone is better in every way than the motorola E815 but not by much ( My sis has the E815)

Size about the same feel as the e815..e815 is more pocket friendly though because its a tad thinner.

I Use the jabra for Bluetooth AWESOME SOUND AND DISTANCE

Cam and Vid are Very good for a phone

Ringers are loud

As far as MP3 ability dont know about that.

VERY Cool looking

The screens and menus blow the E815 out the water.

My prior favorite phone was the Audiovox 9900....this is better in every way.

I give this a 9 because no phone will ever be a 10
The E815 gets like a 8.4...

Did anyone connect it to PC via bluetooth? In the connection options there are features called USB Bluetooth, which makes me think it is possible to connect to PC via bluetooth so u can dl ur own mp3's from ur PC and set them to play as ringtones.

Also How do u use digital zoom while in camera mode, and also how do u use speakerphone?

P.S Overall the phone is pretty nice looking I like the design and the size is pretty compact unlike vx8000 🙂

I know you can use the motorola or Jabra, etc. bluetooth headsets on this phone, but anyone know for certain if there is an LG brand bluetooth headset? I am very anal and like everything to match. I know it's not important, but if someone knows, please help.
