Don't buy this phone!!

Attention everyone,
If you are currently planning on purchasing the VX8100, I must strongly advise against it. This phone is a symbol of Verizon's corporate greed. They have purposefully disabled the luxuries of the previous LG models such as voice memo ringtones and have falsely advertised fully functional MP3 players and data card access in order to get people to purchase this phone. Not only is the phone incapable of using voice memos or MP3s as ringtones, it is incapable of playing anything but MIDI files from the SD card. The only way to play MP3s or add on any ringtones are to purchase them from the Get It Now network. This was a blatant attempt at trying to get more money from us with these hidden costs. I spoke to a Verizon sa...

Can't Get One In Georgia!!

Does anyone know the reason why my stores here in GA (Atlanta actually), 1) Don't have the phone 2) Don't have a date when the phone is going to be released?

Also, after you call the 800 number which number from the prompt do you call? I attempted to call telesales and an agent told me he did not have a phone available and did not know when the phone was going to come out?

I really need an actual number to call to order the phone. Last year I called the 800 and got my VX7000 with no problem ... now all I get is the runaround. HELP!

I ordered one over the phone...this might help some of you

I live in South Carolina and have called every day this week with zero luck. Not even a rep that could confirm I could get it on the 15th. I tried again today and somehow got a lady in the business division who ordered for me. It wasn't easy apparently. She said it wouldn't accept the order and had to redo it but finally it worked. I asked what number I could call back to track my order number and she gave me this number:

1-800-678-5228

I have an extension too but didn't want to post that in case it's her direct line. She'd get flooded from this forum I'm sure.

Anyway, I had zero hope of getting one before tomorrow and thanks to some funky phone routing I have one coming overnight now. Good luck to everyone else calling over...

Speakerphone Clarity Issues

I just got my 8100 and called a friend using the speaker phone. He kept asking me what that noise was and that it was very loud. It sounded clear to me, but apparently there was a great deal of ambient noise and I was not outside in the wind or in the car in direct line of an AC vent.

Is there something I was doing incorrectly and or anything I can change on the phone?

Got my phone yesterday - NY

I'm new to Phone Scoop but I just wanted to let people know that I was able to buy it yesterday. For those of you who live in Queens you might want to check out the Forest Hills location - they only had a few in stock and I got the second one.

Off the wall thought...

So here's a thought...

Its generally accepted that this phone hasnt been officially realeased yet nationwide. Yes?

So is it possible that we will find out all about the mp3 player and the sd card when the phone has been released officially? An automatically downloaded software upgrade perhaps?

No one can deny that there is alot of conflicting information out there even from and within vzw itself.

Its just a thought...

Is it really worth it?

Well Im 15 and me and my parents got the 8000 and we have the 15 day trial period. I really dont like the phone (way to big for me), so Im probably gonna send it back and get a new one. I was really excited when the Motorola e815 came out because I wanted the 710 in the first place until they recalled all of em because of all the problems. Now the 8100 is coming out in a day or two (here in Illinois "supposedly"). When I looked at the 8100 and 815 side by side on this site they have pretty much the same features. I was really leaning to the 8100 side until i saw some posts saying that Verizon crippled the MP3 player on the 8100! Is this true and is there a way to hack into it and like turn it on? What Im probably goin to do is snd the 8000 b...

Bluetooth pairing with my PC

I just wanted to let everyone know that I just paired my phone with my PC over bluetooth. Once the phone was sucessfully paired, I noted that it automatically installed a modem over bluetooth. As soon as I created a new connection to dail out to the internet or verizon 3G, the phone would come on and say: Dial up networking is not supported. This really sucks, as I used this feature on my old v710.

Whats even more interesting, there are no other services that the phone can handle over bluetooth. It seems this feature is worthless, unless you want to use a wirless headset.

Giving my old phone to my dad

I'm about to get the 8100 and was thinking of giving my "old" Samsung A610 to my dad (also a Verizon customer). Do people know if Verizon would let me transfer the phone to him officially? I couldn't find any identifier to set through the menus.

Thanks,
Dan
