About VCAST ...

I am curious to know if the VCast monthly is absolutely required in order to get this phone because i talked to a rep the other day and she told me that to own the phone you have to pay the $15/month for the VCast feature ... I know some of you out there have this phone already or at least claim it ... i was wondering if this is true ... thanks

8100 vs. others besides e815? 8940?

I have heard several people on here compare the 8100 to the e815 but was curious how it stacks up to the 8940. I liked the size, shape and feel of the 8940 and almost bought it but went with the e815. Any comparisons?

Ok-- my third 8000 failed, Is the 8100 worth upgrading or stick with the 8000

My third 8000 failed again today (they sent me the third one yesterday, took into the store today to activate it and it wouldn't play V-Cast clips or lock onto the 1X signal and the phone sounded bad). I have it noted in my account that if the third 8000 fails then I get an upgrade to the 8100.

What I've been seeing here is that this phone doesn't:

Allow you to send sounds and then save them as ringtones (my 8000 does- which is nice as my ringtones are custom).

The camera isn't as good as the 8000's.

The MP3 player only works when Verizon releases Music on Demand.

The 512 Memory is "limited"

I do like the BT feature of the 8100 though.

Seriously why should I upgrade to the 8100 after seeing all the issues people are hav...

What to do? Trade e815 for VX8100 or not?

I currently have the e815 and already have another e815 on the way to replace this one due to earpiece speaker vibration and poor quality audio when listening to people. I also have been having problems with the software and freezing. I press the camera button and many times the viewfinder won't appear on the screen and I have to power down and up to alleviate the problem. Also, several times when deleting pics, phone froze?

My issues with the e815

1. Earpiece in phone has terrible quality
2. Camera, viewfinder image looks great, when the picture is taken, quality diminishes.
3. Opening the phone doesn't have the "solid" feel I have been used to (with older Motos and LGs and Sammys).
4. Ability to apply pics as wallpa...

WHY MORE THAN E815

THE E815 ONLY COST $99.99 WITH A TWO YEAR AGREEMENT ONLINE. DOES THE VX-8100 COST CHEAPER IF YOU GET IT ON VZW THAN IN THE STORES. BECAUSE $199.99 FOR A PHONE SEEMS A LITTLE HIGH TO ME.

Nashville Area?!?!?

I've called and the freaking dude doesn't know anything about the phone!! Says he doesn't see it in the system - Do they just not want to sell them in certain areas or what???? This is kinda getting rediculous.

CAMERA TRICK WITH THE DELAY

For whoever has a VX8100, you most likely already know about the 1-2 second delay (sometimes it seems like a good 2 long seconds) when taking pictures. The higher the resolution you go, the longer the delay in shutter speed. Lower resolutions have a split second delay that's pretty disregardable. However, the highest resolution has the 1.5-2 second delay. However, i figured out a simple little thing I do to get rid of that delay.

As soon as you take the picture, Hit the CLR button right away. it takes the picture instantly, instead of making you wait those 1.5-2 seconds where your subject may have already moved or etc. That delay was sooo annoying, but this little workaround seems work pretty well.

On a side note, outside pictures ...

One thing I don't like - Silence All Hard to Set

Okay, this is being picky, but one feature I liked on my 4400 was the ability to scroll through Vibrate, Normal, or Silence All mode from the * button. On the 8100, the * key only toggles between Normal and Vibrate modes. You have to hit Menu, Settings & Tools, Sounds, Master Volume, and then use the down arrow to get the setting down to Silence All.

Anyone found a shortcut to this yet?

Tips and Tricks so far....

Hello,

I used to see a page on HoFo with some tips and tricks for the 8100 so far. Can someone please link me to a page or just post what you have done so far. I'm looking to upload mp3 ringers, play full mp3's, access the 512mb memory and use the front buttons to access picture gallery. Thanks for the help.

Pixel Problem With The Camera When Dark? PROS vs CONS

First off, I just got the phone yesterday around noon from my local verizon store. I've been waiting forever for this phone! I played with it for awhile and was pretty impressed except for a couple minor things. I used the cdm9900 before this and one thing I will miss is the nice screen and the resolution. Why do no new phones have picture like the 9900?

Pros:
-Bluetooth is sick on this phone, need to pick up the new vibrating jabra headset
-Speakerphone sounds so nice through the stereo speakers
-Menus set up nicely like most LG's, very easy to get the hang of
-Great picture/movie quality during the day
-All around a solid phone with good reception and very nicely made

Cons:
-Keys on the front cannot be used to access your pi...

No cable for the 8100

I got a cable for the 7000 which worked on the 8000 but does not work on the 8100. Further more you can not use the express network with the 8100. It has been disabled to allow the V cast to function. There for I can not use the bitpim program with the 8100 to try and enable the MP3 player yet. Tomorrow I will get a blue tooth card for my laptop and try to connect that way.

I will post tomorrow

Odd tidbit about VZW.com

I just was on the Verizon wireless and I was looking at all their info on bluetooth. They had a page that showed all their bluetooth products but the Moto E815 was not on that page.

Then they had a chart that showed bluetooth profiles and that mentioned the Moto v710 and E815.

Just got me to wondering...

Is Verizon forced to update every document on their site once a new product is released if said document should include the newly released item?

Just a thought.

Online, store, phone?

Should you buy this phone in the stores, or online? If you buy it online, and you want to return it, can you return it in the stores?

and any updates on the (hidden) MP3 player?

RUNNING OUT OF TIME!!!

Was hoping someone could help me with a question I have?? Can you download MP3's to the vx 8100!? I have the E815 (motorola) because the vx 8100 has not been released yet here in south jersey. My 15 days are almost up. I was in the Motorola E815 Forum and found out how to download 30sec mp3's to my phone, without a cable, and free. Can this be done with the Lg??? I had the Lg vx 6000 and really loved it. Don't prefer the Motorola because I had the T720 and hated it. I like the speaker phone, reception is great, and keypad is really nice. I don't like that its the same way the t720 was set up menu wise. Camera and video are awful. Volume is low. Hate the voice dial. Never is correct on what I say. Vibrate is weak. I tolerate the phone but lov...
