LG VX-8100

I had an LG VX8000 for a few weeks and loaded MP3s via Bitpim into the appropriate directory (the only was to get them there as the MOD service is not up yet). Once the files are there, the player controls on the front work and you get use the hidden player. It was quite nice. I would betcha this phone is the same. I also bet Bitpim will work too.

is this true? anyone with a phone, have you tried this? and how can you even get MP3's to your phone? via bluetooth? or USB cable? how do you have those already?

and ALOALOCA (original poster), what is the "apporpriate directory"?

I just saw *611 and spoke with a nice man who told me that the VX8100 is in low stock in the Northeast. I then asked if he could transfer me to sales so I could order it immediately.

He transferred me to the wrong place but I got re transferred and spoke with a lovely woman who said that she could not do the order over the phone cause she does not know when they would get more in but she will check the stores in the area and get back to me. She also told me that stores in my area get deliveries on Thursdays so Friday would be a good chance to see if the stores have it in stock.

So I am waiting for her phone call back and let me know what I can do to get this phone. Worst case scenario is I wait the 4 days and get it Friday.

First I want to thank all of you for your help. I've been reading phonescoop for the last month waiting for this phone. My two new aggreement was up and I was going to get the 8000, but someone told me about this site and I saw this phone. And I waited and waited, and read all the rumors over and over and I've been reading about people getting it. Well I went in to a verizon store here in San Diego today, and didn't see it withthe other phones, but I asked and they had it in the back. i actually bought two, one for me and one for my wife. Got a sweet deal, so I had to add the bluetooth headset. Havn't had much time to play with it yet, but I thought I'd let you all know. Thanks phonescoop crew.

Well supersonic said he got the phone in this forum. How much memory you have on the phone? I have an E815 and i like the phone. I was thinking of trying out the 8100 as well due to the fact that phonescoop said it comes with 512 MB of ram. So go to VZW store that has the phone for display, and it shows only 32 megs of ram. I asked the guy and he says he has no idea. Go figure

I'm finding it hard to believe that some people are already ordering the phone, especially through 611. The "someone I know," who is a supervisor at a call center said the latest email he has had says that the VX8100 will be "coming soon." Coming soon is not a date of release, and it could even mean coming soon in the next few weeks... OR months. He actually called West coast call centers because I had him really wondering what was going on that he didn't know about. Every center said the same thing... "coming soon." Verizon STAFF isn't even allowed to purchase the phone at this time. Well this is what i think, i have noticed that Motorola phones tend to have higher Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) ratings than LG phones, there is the talk around that high SAR ratings are not good for you and that might be why Motorola phones get better reception (they expose you to more RF which is measured by the SAR rating). Just a food for thought, perhaps those of you screaming better reception! better reception! are frying your brains in exchange for better reception (who knows), and to the bluetooth users, stick to your bluetooth, it probably will reduce your exposure to the RF (SAR). I will rather have a phone with lower SAR rating (if i wont be using bluetooth) with good reception than have one with a higher SAR rating with excelle...

Ok, I have finally grown tired of my big-as-heck Audiovox xv6600 and I'm pretty much against replacing it with the Samsung i730 because it has no camera and ultimately these PocketPC phones stink as phones. So I'm comparing the Moto E815 and LG-8100, without really too much concern for price in the determination.

What are the key feature differences? I saw the 512meg but wasn't impressed - saving huge numbers of photos isn't a big deal and draining my phone to listen to music seems a bad use of the battery (cool concept though if batteries greatly improve.)

I am mostly interested in the calendar and phonebook features, as well as the ability to sync. For instance, the Moto has 1000 name phone book, but each email, home, cell, and ot...

The E815 was on the VZ website this morning, now it's not there!!!

NOW after speaking with SEVEN different sales reps at Verizon Wireless (only in the past few hours), ONE rep says "Oh, Why did they all tell you that it can't be purchased?" !!!!!! Grrrrr However, It won't be sent for some reason until it is ACTUALLY released in this part of the country... yeah, SHE DIDN'T SAY WHEN THAT IS. . . . . 😕 (well, she said Tuesday for NY, I have a NY number but I moved to FL so I have to wait until its released in FL) I'm also very nervous. I really like LG products and I've had the vx6000 for well over 2 years. I already bought the samsung w/ my ne2 promotion so I only have one shot left, 15 days and an exchange. If I were to be refunded and could get the vx8100 at a later date it wouldn't help me. My vx6000 bro...

Spoke with the *611 guy. He said he received an e-mail stating the release date is 7-11 for our area... happy hunting.

I live in the Kansas City metro area - on the Kansas side. I have been pestering my local VZW store for weeks about the 8100. I got confirmation on Friday that the phones were in, but no release date as of then. I called this morning, spoke with my regular contact there, and was told still no release date. The rep was going to call their RM (regional mgr.?) to see if they could sell me the phone. I got tired of waiting, called 800# Cust. Svc., and asked the person who answered if, since I knew the phone was in the store, if they could put a note in my file telling the store it was okay to sell me the phone. The CSR said, "I don't see why not.".

I called my store 10 minutes later, my contact said, "Yes, there is a note in your file ...

i was wrong before with the verizon site but look i no this for a fact when ever the update the lg site its allways down before allways....

I'm in a suburb of detroit, michigan. Today i stopped by my local verizon store in hopes to gather some more information on bluetooth capabilities and the like (since i was able to order through 611 - should be here tuesday!!)

As i walked in, i noticed a large, aparently semi-secure truck labeled "AT Systems" (perhaps all-tell? or something...) which appeared to be dropping some sort of shipment. I don't know why but the trick was similar to one of those Brinks trucks with like extra locks. Verizon doesn't handle lots of cash, so my only logic is that it was a shipment of phones, maybe...

A few things...

Will there, can there be, an application you can buy through the internet (NOT through LG or verizon) that is like a media player and can play your own MP3's?
if you say no, why not? i know there are plenty of applications for phones out there, why can't this be one? is it already?

Also, the Music on demand thing, will that need all new towers? or will it be available to anyone who can access verizon service?

called three different verizon stores..the best buy on north avenue ..NO CLUE, the verizon store on lake st...FRIDAY.
and the verizon in the Lincoln wood shopping mall,THESE GUYS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN RIGHT ON ON RE-LEASE DATES FOR MY AREA..HE SAID "FRIDAY! BUT WE PROBABLY WON'T START SELLING THEM UNTIL MONDAY!!! he went on to say that we would get it first along with other ev-do cities,so those seem to be who will be getting them quickest, again i always take what any verizon rep says with a grain of salt,but like i said i got three different phones from this outlet ,v600 comes to mind,,when everyone else had no idea they told me the exact date it would be in stock and the following monday i did get it!!so good luck!!!!!!!

can you turn speakerphone on during the middle of a call? because if it is the clear button and your calling verizon per say, it wud just delete the numbers wouldnt it? or would it delete numbers, THEN go to the speakerphone.. i assume it would but im a 4400 user just curious 🙂
