LG VX-8100

I just got confirmation that the Phone will be released July 20th........Again July 20th not tommarrow. But I pray Im wrong. But I doubt it. This is Atleast for NY.

The Voice Dialing on the 8100 is not as nice as the 815..

The 815 you can say call mike mobile and it will do it in one fell swoop or if mike has 3 numbers it will ask which one..

On the 8100 you have to say something like Name dial and then it asks who and then you have to say the name (Mike) and then confirm..

The 815 has a much better voice dialer.

I am not a huge Moto fan at all, I like Samsung the best but the 815 is quite good right now..

The big concern about the 8100 is going to be reception and it's ability to keep a call up in bad areas.

The moto and samsung do this the best

Both Verizon stores in stockton and in San jose and redwood city combined with 611 and VZW customer care all comfirm the release date has been pushed till the 15th and not even sure that will be the final one. Call a few times I found a rep to place the order and I should hopfully get it tommarrow. But not gonna be offically released tommarrow

I was all hyped, obsessed with the 8100. Now, I'm not sure. I don't have either, but

the 815 is supposed to have

better reception,
longer battery life
MP3 player that works
PC connectivity
costs less

but

You have to return it 5-7 times to get one that works - has all it's pixels
you can't hear the speakerphone
It might echo
feels like a toy
A vibration mode no one can feel

The 8100 is supposed to have

better quality out of the box
better camera (although 1.3M isn't the end all)
a decent vibration mode
a better "feel"

but

the MP3 player is worthless unless you want to pay Verizon out the butt later
the battery life is limited
the blue tooth is problematic - difficult to use

jUST SPOKE TO A FREIENDLY verizon wireless customer care person and he confirmed thru the tech specs that it does have "speaker independant" dailing. Cool. But he wouldn't tell me when it would be released.

Simple question: Does anyone know if the charger is the same for the 8100 as the 8000? I remember LG changed the charger when it re-released the 7000 in black...Thanks.

was in the mall today [im in chicago]and did'nt even ask about the 8100 when someone ELSE came in and asked!![was it someone form here maybe???] so the salesgirl says hold on, she goes to the back and brings out THE 8100 IN THE BOX!!! she told the guy "yeah we have 20!in stock but cannot release them yet,so the guy asked if he could just see one,and the girl was nice enough to bring out one and take it out of the box!!!!!! i looked at it as well,looks great!!! smaller than i thought but that's good!!! but she said she would get in trouble when was asked about selling it early... 😢

I'm planning on getting the vx-8100, but I'm not eligible for the New Every Two discount.

Is it possible to extend my contract for another two years and get a cheaper price than the cost without a contract?

So I played with the phone in a CC store today..

I have the E815 and I am doing direct compares..

It's a very tough thing to do because they are both nice in alot of different ways.

The 8100 is very nice in your hand. It's small and built very well. The 815 is a little clunky and not nearly built as well but with that said.

The 8100 in the left hand and the 815 in the right showed the signal strength issues right away. The Moto has 5 bars the whole time I was there and the 8100 was 2 bars and once got to 3.. This is classic stub antenna poor design that LG keeps doing.

Their phone drop more calls than any other phone out and I was hoping that they would fix this with this phone. Keep in mind the phone was not activated so rea...

look the phone was made to read a mp3 file.....verizon dont expect people to buy usb cables and use b.p to hack into ur fone and put mp3s on there...do they no some people will will? Yes, but they have there on demand service comming soon where u can download mp3s right from your phone...the phones not gonna magically start reading mp3s right when the service is started!

Ok the only reason to get the LG phone is the 512mb memory. And be able to play MP3's on it. Plus its a tad bit smaller, but just a tad!!! Anyone know FOR SURE ABOUT THE 512mb memory???
