Release of LG VX 8100 and aprx price

Spoke with a service rep a half hour ago and she put me on hold to speak with a supervisor. She returned and said the official release date is Friday July 15. It will be $199 for a 2 year service contract, $249 for a 1 year contract, and i believe it was $399 to buy with no contract. I didn't write the prices, but if these are not right, they are close. She knew nothing about how many phones each store would officially get but said they should be available over the Internet.

New Release Date

😡 😡 😡 Here we go again. What's going to happen on the 15th? More bulls**t excuses. By the time they finally release this phone, it will be Xmas and they will have sold off all the 8000's. They keep dangling it in front of us and then pulling it away. Well the CEO said August, Guess he's right.

15th

I just spoke to a VZW cust. serv. rep and he told me that the release date had been pushed back till the 15th and i couldn't pre order the phone because they had no pricing. I don't know how you other people say you've ordered one already if they have no pricing or phones till the 15th.

8100 info

I am in the Pittsburgh area and just got off the phone with CS. She was able to pull up the info and pricing on the phone( as you know, full price $439, 2 yr price $199 ans so on) She first told me it was available now. 😲 She had called the direct store to double check inventory and she found out that the info is in their computer only to inform the customers who call in about the price only and rep at the store only "thinks" it will be released the week of the 17th. I know...yet another date to add to all the frustration! (Sorry) 😕

False Alarm :(

Just got off the phone with a Verizon Rep and he said the 8100 coming out next week was a false alarm and probably won't be getting them for another couple months or so 😢

Out of Town

I'm from Colorado but will be in North Carolina when the phone is released. I just called Verizon, but they weren't sure whether or not I could buy the phone at a Verizon store in North Carolina and use my current, local Verizon number.

Does anyone know whether or not I will be able to buy the phone at a Verizon store in NC, and still use my local number?

Thank you.

Another hash in the 11th Column

I'm in Illinois, just across the river from St. Louis, so basically the STL market....

Techie at VZ store said thy're expecting the phone today....wasn't sure when they would be selling however.

Girl at a VZ kiosk in mall confidently said the 11th....she even added "that's the one I'm waiting for". Maybe she lurks here!

Anyhow.....so maybe the 11th is lopoking good for certain midwest markets?

The VX8000 is no longer on the verizon web site (west coast region/LA area). Good sign that there wont be no more delays 😁

Next FRIDAY?

I was in the local Verizon branch office (it wasn't crowded for some reason which I found unusual). The people there seem to think they will be getting them in next Friday. The CASES are coming Monday though according to them. And as per the apparent Verizon policy, no one at the branch seems to know too much about the new phone. = )

you guys are going to be so disappointed

I've had the unique opportunity to trail test both phones. The Motorola E815 blows the LG 8100 in reception and battery life.

And for all those confused about which looks better, that is so intuitively obvious. The LG 8100 has got to be the ugliest phone on the market.

Buy the Motorola E815 it's vastly superior. 😁

get around get it now ringtones!

Try this: save a file on you computer(make sure your phone is compatible with the file type) Chop the file down to about 10 seconds. Then attach the file to and email and mail it to your phone (your phone [email protected]) The file will come in as a pix message with a song file attached. save the sound file and you have an instant ringtone. I've been doing it for 2 years with my vx6000. Just thought I'd share the knowledge.

Uncrippling bluetooth

Like many other, I'm waiting for the 8100 to come out to decide if i want the E815 or the 8100. 8100 had the upper hand up until 10 mins ago when I read this post: https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/p_forum.php ?fm=m&ff=663&fi=317888 .

Basicly, it lists how OBEX can be done on this phone with some "fixing". I didn't think it would happen this fast, but it has.

Any chance that the 8100 will have a "fix" as fast which would release OBEX and possibly other bluetooth abilities?

I wasn't actively looking when the v710 came out, but didn't that take longer than a few days?
