LG VX-8100

I don't know what software version this feature was released with but I just found out that you can now tell your phone which phone number you want your contact book to default to for you contacts when you're scrolling through your address book. I loved this feature w previous phones and am VERY happy the 8100 has it now.

PS. I have v07 and am currently browsing the internet via DUN (as a test) with it now and it works awesome!!

Does connecting you computer to your phone via blue tooth allow you to do the exact same things you can do with the USB cable or can it do more? I have the usb cable, wondering if I should get USB adapter for computer.

I want to customize my own ring-tones, but I don't know how to. Do I have to buy the Mini SD Card? I already have an iPod, and i don't need the MP3 feature. If I need a Mini SD Card to customize ring-tones, then i will use the MP3 feature, but I'd rather not spend 80 dollars for it. PLEASE HELP ME!!

I would like to get an opinion from a woman that has this phone. I would like to get this phone for my wife but she really needs a phone that is easy to use. She likes a camera, being able to get ringtones, mp3, text mes., and being able to e-mail pictures. She's also interested in the video but the phone must be easy to use. Motorola is out of the question because she has a hard time with my V710. Please help if possible.

if i was to puta midi or mid (w/e) ringtone on my memory card could i use it as a ringtone on my phone and if so how? also does this work with the MP3's on my memory card

but the out side buttons wont find any songs
unless i go to get it now/my mp3s on the in side keys first. i cant close the flip and start up mp3s? why?

I just updated to the newest version of BitPim, and am disappointed that it still doesn't seem to have a way to transfer FLIX to the phone.
LOL, Yes, I am too cheap to buy a miniSD, but all I really want to do is take a 3GP flix and put it on the phone to use as a ringer or wallpaper...
Does anyone know of a way to make this work?????

yea i was super excieted to see that my phone, and my parents phones have come in...or i thought. i just opende the fedex box and the phones are completely wrong. i ordered a 8100 and my parents both wanted a 5200. i open the box and i see a motorola e85 and a trea broadband thing!!!! ughhh. what should i do!!!!

New to the forum and just purchased a new 8100 w/ Verizon.

The VZ techs transfered over my phone book without issue. Like with my previous phone, there is a feature in Contacts function to group contracts be categories.

However, it only allows you to do 10 per category.

Question, does anybody know a way to expand the number I group beyond 10? I actually use this function. Seems like a software programmable setting.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I know how to send a picture from my flix, but how do you send more than one at a time?

Is there a way to have BitPim transfer the phonebook that would automatically setup the 'Mobile' phone number for each contact be the primary number when I import my contacts from Microsoft Outlook? Would this be an Outllok setting that I can change also? Right now, it sets up the 'Home' number for each contact. It is a big pain in the a%# to manually set each contact's default number to their mobile.

i went in got the update....everytime i go there there is a tech who is rude,like today when he said"you know your mp3's will be deleted ...." i said i know [though i know the hack 😈 ]he then said.."do you even know what an mp3 is??????" after giving him a dirty look. he then IGNORED me when i asked him aa question about how much the stereo headset was..just wondering if anyone elsehad bad tech storys???????

There seem to be a lot of misconceptions all over the place on the software update for the 8100.

The current version is v07.

It supports Vcast Music (MP3 still works).

The camera seems somewhat improved in quality (I've done side by side /w v04) and a little in speed.

I never had a problem with volume fluctuation on my phone, however I will say it does seem louder than before and I my friend told me he didn't hear much echo when I had the volume up (while using a BT headset).

If they flash your phone properly the only thing you should lose are your GIN apps (call CS to get credit).

There will be a follow up version (probably 8 or 9) that will move the MP3 capability into the VCast MOD/WMA player. This is why the mp3 capabil...

i just got the mini sd card and started trying to put music on the phone and realized that it has to be in a WMA format. i then converted some and tried to play it again and it only play 2 out of 5 songs that i put on there so i dont know what to do

just wondered if you could tell me how to re-start the mp3 player after theupdate..i know there is a sub-menu but not sure how to get there or what to do when i do..you should be running verizon!!!!! 😈

I went in yesterday to get the update and was told that they would do it but that I should wait because they are coming out with a patch. the tech told me that they had a meeting with an LG rep and that is what they are not telling customers. Anyone else have this happen? I know that many techs do not seem to know as much as this forum (MARY!!!!) but he did seem to know what he was talking about.

how do i turn on the mp3 player?

I was having a problem with the volume fluctuating on my 8100. Seems to be a common problem. LG has just released a new software update for this phone that Verizon has had for maybe a week or so. I had this update installed on my phone this week, and all volume problems have disappeared.
This update will be installed at Verizon store free of charge if your phone is under warranty.

To check your software version...go to tools...system...device info...then SW version...if you have the latest version...the last two numbers will be 07.....Hope this helps everyone that was having this problem.
