LG VX-8100

Ok, so I know there have been a million posts asking "which BT headset it best" etc., and I know it's all personal preference on looks, size, fit, etc. etc. etc. BUT.....I have tried a lot of them and let me tell you this, I think I have just found THE BEST one (IMO, of course). First off, let me mention what I have tried:
Jabra 250V (worked well, but bulky)
Moto 820 (little static, poor fit)
Moto 850 (little static, poor fit)
SCALA (horrible static, connection and cutting-out; the worst of all of them)
Jabra 350 (loose fit, vibrate too strong on your ear)
Jabra 150 (loose fit)
Jabra 500 (bulky)
Moto 500 (good sound, fit good at first but quickly loosened up)
Bluespoon AX2 (static, fit was just ok)
Plantronics 320 (fit snug, but ...

I was told by a tech at LG today that using Xringer for ring-tones can cause problems like the phone restarting, which I have had happen.
Can anyone tell me what Get It Now ring-tone programs you use that do not make the phone restart. A VZW tech told me he uses the SONY program. Thanks for any advice.

ok,i apologizeahead of time for what may be a dumb question..but i do not have a mini sd card as of yet..if i got the update now would i be able to get music for my handset..or do i need a mem card before i do that?

Turned on Call Announce tonight and I am blown away..

The phone will announce the name/phone number of the person calling including if it's mobile or home etc.. and then it will play the ringer..

This is totally awesome and I am not sure if there are any other VZW phones that do this..

ANyone else try this yet ?

i have the lg 6000 i think it time for an upgrade so im thinking of the samsung a950 and the lg 8100 i dont know which one to get i want to know the pros and cons and about the camera and the reception of both phones to find out which one would be the best choose.

I have a HP laptop with Bluetooth and was wondering is it possible to send WMA files to my phone via bluetooth as apposed to a USB cable?

Hi all---hoping maybe someone has some insight here...
I recently bought the 8100---love it. Except for some battery issues. According to the user manual it should give me some indication of the battery being low...it doesn't. Basically we get down to a bar and then phone powers down. No warning...just realize the person I was talking to isn't there anymore and now my phone is off. Even my OLD Nokia gave me some beeps first. So that leads me to think there is an issue.
Second, I noticed last night I was on the phone for about 2 hours straight, (this was the longest time yet on this new phone). Started with a fully charged battery and by the end I was down to 1 bar, it went really fast after the first 2 bars were gone. Talk time...

Hi does anyone have trouble with thier phone rebooting when you are using BT headset? When I push the call button if it doesn't recognize what I say,it times out and power cycles my phone. I have swapped it out tried 4 different types of headsets. I am about to give up. I have V 6 on phone my store says they do not have V 7. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also I can only get about 5 feet from phone or I get static. Any help also on what headsets work the best have tried Jabra BT250 now using 500 plantronics 300 and voyager. sorry for so many questions I have had many phones but this is first Blue tooth and so far not impressed 😢

Is there a way to back up (and edit) your contact list on a pc then download it to the phone to update? If so, what would I need to do this and is there any special software needed for the pc?

I updated to V07 today and listened to the tech tell me about how my MP3's would be disabled. I tried to tell him that I was sure I could get them back and he was very smug and stood his ground since he was the tech and I was just a customer. After the update I did the secret menu trick and then the shortcut trick , hit the play button and Viola music. The look on his face was worth a million dollars. He asked "how in the hell did you do that" I said do what ,,, you said I couldnt do it and walked out. In all fairness the tech is pretty cool and has been very helpful in the past and I will probably tell him the next time I'm in the store.

Just a friendly word of advise. I was in Palo Alto, CA over the weekend and had some time to kill. I decided to take my phone and my wifes phone to get the upgrade. The first attempt my wifes phone was still ver.4, mine was still in process. They said sorry, they used the wrong file and would try again, no biggie. Came back an hour later, picked up both phones, checked to make sure ver.7 was on and all pictures and videos were still there, all good. Said thanks, left....

Later that evening I was using my phone and found I HAD SOMEONE ELSES CONTACTS ON MY PHONE NOW !!!! My wife also had someone elses contacts on her phone (they used two different computers for upgrading). I believe this was just an incident of this store not knowing...

This sucks...I read all the great stuff about going to VO7 from V04 so I took my phone to the local Verizon store. I read that some downloaded apps may be lost so I inquired about other data. They assured me that my videos and pics would be safe. When I picked up my phone 45 minutes later the file names were all there, but when I tried to open them...NADA!!! Some of these were precious to me and I didn't yet have the chance to back them up. To add insult to injury, the upgrade didn't even go through...still V04! The Verizon people were baffled, never saw this before. They talked to LG folks who confirmed data permantely lost. My question is why are the file names still there? Is there yet a way to retrieve my stuff? Any help greatl...

Hi.

I noticed an earlier post with a similar question, but it was unanswered, so sorry if this is repeating it.

I have the 8100 with v.4 and I want to put ringtones onto it, but I don't want to risk ruining my phone with bitpim. If the file is already in the correct ringtone format, can I just "Drag and drop" as the other post said and put it onto my phone? If so, which folder does it go into?

i went to the second Verizon store in my area yesterday and though they had the v07 software upgrade, the techie said they weren't giving it out because it had fried one of the customer service girl's phones the day before. i've been reading this forum since i got my phone, and this is the first i've heard of v07 frying anything.

also, if i have multiple missed calls and delete one, sometimes it remains on the screen as if i didn't get rid of it. so when i go to re-delete it, it deletes one of my other missed calls. i know this is a minor glitch, but since i use my missed calls to determine who to call back at times, i could really benefit from this being fixed. anyone else have this same problem?

Does anyone know what I need to do to remove ringtones from my phone. I am using bitpim 0.8.06. Bitpim will not let me pull ringtone data from my phone, however I am able to create my own ringtones from mp3s and upload them to my phone. My question is, how do I remove the ringtones that I am uploading as well as ones currently on the phone? I've tried going to Menu>Settings&Tools>System>ManageMemory>Phone Memory>My Sounds or My Music...and my ringers are not there. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated! I'm imagining this is something simple that I am missing.

Ok Ok before you guys lynch me just hear me out. I know vo7 possibly remedies some of the bugs associated with the phone we all know about, but the main purpose of the update was to install verizons MOD. Assuming we don't know that all you have to do is just enable your mp3 player via the secret menu (because I don't think most people have a clue about that menu), why would anyone opt to get this "update"? Granted you do get the ability to add a play-list and dl music any time, any where but is that really worth $1.99 a song whilst the original mp3 player was totally free. 😳 Am I just being a cheap skate, am I right on or do I actually not have a clue 😕 ?

I read somewhere on here that the Jabra c120s are pretty good headphones for the money. Does it work equally well as a headset when talking to people? I was also looking at the LG SGEY0003301 headphone/cell headset combo. Does anyone have any experience with this head-set-phones. Any info would be appreciated. Again I'm looking for how the audio quality is with mp3s and how it works as a hands-free setup when talking to people. Thanks!

I have read several times that it's easy to convert mp3's to WMA's (want to do this so I can use playlists on my v07 phone) with Windows Media Player. I have version 10.0 of Windows Media Player, and can't find anywhere how to convert mp3's to WMA's. I feel stupid, since I know the solution is probably really obvious, however if anyone could help I'd appreciate it!

do any of you guys know how much the 8100 is to buy outright without a contract?
