LG VX-8100

I'm getting an error message when trying to download to my LG 8100 using Bitpim. All drivers are installed and the modem has been recognized for the data cable and I have verified that through Device Manager. When I go to download I get the following error message:

"LG8100 on COM5: The phone is not responding while transitioning mode from none to brew."

What does this mean and is there any way to resolve this issue???

hey... LGvx8100 my phone turns off when I shut it or tap it slightly hard or drop it even a very short distance onto something soft (a bed, for instance). Any ideas on that? It ticks me off.

The second problem I have is that sometimes when the phone is set on vibrate, it rings instead. I can't figure out how I set it to do that! please help! Thanks!

I just saw that on the website that the LG 8100 is no longer offered. I recently picked one up over the holiday season. My fiancée really liked the phone and went to order one tonight and saw that it was offered on the website anymore. I called Verizon and the rep. told me that she received an email today telling them that they were discontinuing them and that if my fiancée wanted that phone she would have to go to the store to purchase it.

Does anyone know anything about this? Also, what phone will LG be replacing the 8100 with? Thanks for your help guys!

I posted on here a few days ago that I sent whole songs to my phone as ringtones and that they are too quiet.
In response, someone told me to edit the song to 30 seconds first and convert it there to make the song louder.
Can ya'll reccomend a program that does this (I have Bitpim). Thanks in advance!

Desperate and looking for some help. I have an 8100 and use Verizon. During conversations, I can hear "digital noises" in the background. They come and go and no set interval's. Low pitched chirping and beeeping that is just loud enough to be super annoying.
I am on my 3rd handset and all have had the same problems.
Any input would be outstanding!

1. Is there a way to unlock Bluetooth on the phone so that the VX-8100 can "interact" (share photos, sounds, etc.) with other Bluetooth-enabled phones? I don't think this is the same question as unlocking DUN.

2. On that note, I went into the hidden "Menu + 0", and found that BT DUN is already turned on. Is it possible that they are allowing this service now?

3. Finally, I asked this question earlier but I'm still confused. Without a monthly add-on for Mobile Web, how is it billed?

So, why would Verizon allow the Razr V3 to do phone book transfers via Bluetooth and not the VX8100. This is frustrating.

What is FTM mode and how do you get out of it? It won't let me make calls!

How is mobile web billed on a standard Verizon billed? Is it just deducted from your minutes online or is there an additional charge?

Question. My last 3 phones have been LG. All have had echo. Has anyone else experienced this? I had a Samsung before the LG and tried 2 a950's. No echo with either. Is this an LG problem or a VZW network problem with the LG chipset? I really love my 8100 and want to stay with VZW. The BT has been horrible, either echo or static. I still believe the BT echo is related to the phone echo, as I have experienced it both at the same time. Any help appreciated. 😛

i used to use bitpim and it worked very good but now it wont recognize my phone could it be because the ringtone memory is full on my phone??? please help!!! i dont want to risk deleting my ringtones and having bitpim not work. so please help..

I just got my vx8100 for Christmas ( I have been reading the 8100 forums for about 4 months now long story) Love it, just need a mini SD to unleash this baby. If you purchased your 8100 before 01/16/06 and received a field replacement unit(fru) the last week, you may have v06 and your mp3 player has been disabled. Well if you would rather not go into a vzw retail hell location heres how to get your phone to play MP3's:
First of all abandon your mp3 player because v06 only supports WMAs. Now what you need to do is get a usb cable (probably not from cellphoneshop) and use WMP 10 to sync music from your hard drive to your phone. Remember to format the sd card with the phone fist. WMP 10 should do an auto conversion to rip your MP3s into WMAs. Now you will have the option of storing your music files on the phone or on the SD card. Hello, I am new to the phone to computer thing and I ordered my cable about 3 weeks ago at cellphoneshop.net .... I have bitpim, I installed the drivers that came with the cord and it still doesn't work... I contacted the company and they said they would send me another cord because the cord they sent me said it was for a lg 3200 but was compatible with the 8100... Obviously not... Now they just sent me another cord saying its for vx 3200 and 7000 but it still does not work with my phone...

I have the 8100 and I have had nothing but problems trying to hook up my phone to the computer... Is it the cord? Or am I doing something wrong..... Please Help ☹️

im hearing nothing but gay things...

- no fix on volume bug
- ghetto speakerfone closed?
(plug earpiece, close, then unplug?)
- it does fix cam delay.. (i guess that a plus)
- mp3 player buttons in front dun work?

i am pretty satisfied with the version 4 that i have right now.. but it would be nice to upgrade to an update that actually FIXES SOME PROBLEMS~!

When in a conversation in BT mode if a text message is received BT connection crashes.

Anybody else experience this?

I'm getting bored with this phone too by the way... I wish VZ offered the same LG QWERTY phone that they have for Cingular. I like the 9800 but I'd need a suitcase to carry it around it's so big.
