LG VX-8100

I noticed today that when I adjust my Master Volume using the side buttons that it seems to automatically accept the setting if I don't touch any buttons for about two seconds. I seems to remember that I used to have to either accept or press clear in order to get out of that screen. Can anyone tell me if this is a problem they have encountered before. So far I haven't had any other problems with my phone but now it seems like the gremlins have moved into my phone. I just hope that this isn't the start of bad things to come. 👿

I recently downloaded BITPIM ver 7.34 and bought a data cable. I CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO CONNECT MY PHONE TO THE PROGRAM. Im constantly getting an error message of "An unexpected exception has occurred." Im not too knowledgable about computers but i made sure my phone is connected to the USB correctly and I tried changing the com port on Bitpim settings. I tried each com port including automatic and it still wont connect! Any advise would be greatly appreciatted. THANKS ALOT

I have 2 questions can someone please help.

1) I just bought vx8100 thinking about switching to motorola e815. Which one is better in your opinion.

2)I just transferred mp3 to my sd card, and the phone does not recognizes it. I do have new software version. The characters are less than 47. The only thing is the size of my mp3 is 80 mb. It's live electronic dj mix. Is there are any explanation for it. In addition some individual songs that are normal size 4mb do not play even though the name shows on the screen. Or the individual songs show up on the card when i read it but does not show up on the phone. I am pretty sure i am doing everything right. Any suggestion? Did anyone ever encountred anything like this.

Anyone know the actualy dimensions of the inner LCD on the 8100? The E815 too if you know them. I've been on hold with my local V store much longer than I care to be... 🙄

I think we should go in and rate this phone again since the update. The rating is low compared to the 815... 🙂

I got my firmware update. I added songs onto miniSD. Phone wouldn't play, it said "No songs found in memory card". I took the card out, plugged it back into computer and I noticed 4 new folders (MY_FLIX, MY_SOUND, MY_PIX and MY_MP3) along with the songs I had earlier loaded. Now I wasn't able to delete or add anything to the card. I formatted the card on the phone, which deleted the songs, but left the the folders.

How do I get songs onto the card? Is my goal to get the songs into the "MY_MP3 folder? I was using mp3s, I even converted songs that were already labeled mp3, just to make sure. I can't edit this card now at all.

What do I need to attatch to my computer to get my phone to work on the 1x network? I have mobile office already on my computer. Do I need some sort of bluetooth adapter? If so which one? Also can this be done? Please help if you can.....

I have notice that when I call and listen to my voice mail, it doesn't say what time the message was placed. Am the only one who don't have this or is it just a Verizon thing?

Is using the phone as a flashlight old news or is anyone interested in knowing how to do it? Don't bash me if this is already well known, just wanted to share to those who may not know.

Here's how:

With phone closed press and hold camera button on right side until is says "please wait" then press the microphone button on the left side and it will turn the flash on and leave it one for quite awhile until it times out or you press exit.

Comes in pretty handy sometimes!

I have been anxiously awaiting the software update, but it hasn't reached my area yet. They say possibly next week. The more I read on here, though, I'm wondering if I even want it now. Yes, I'd love to use the MP3 player like it's supposed to be used, but it sounds as if many of you have had problems after the update that you didn't have before. What do you suggest I do??????????????????

Been trying to check "my account" on the Verizon Wireless homepage and when I sign in the first page comes up and shows my balance and that, but when I try to choose functions to go to, like view my minutes used, it says "my account is temporarily unavailable at this time, try back later". Anyone else getting this message?

i have a 128 mb mini sd, and was wondering how many mp3's can it hold? Does the update compress the size of the mp3s before transferring them to your disk or....??

anybody have an estimate of how many songs i can hold on an 128 mb card?

I am having a very frustrating time trying to transfer files to the phone via bitpim. I am using that vx8100 application to make custom ringtones. However, when i try to transfer the zip file to the subdirectory 'ring' it takes a hell of a time. Its acting as though its a serial cable instead of a usb. I only have 45 mp3s to transfer.

Anyone else out there used this method or have any ideas why the transfer would be so slow?

just to let anyone know who has used bitpim and stops in to get the update you will not run into any problems. I had about 7 ringtones loaded into my phone from bitpim and the update went through fine and even left those ringers in there.

I went ahead and picked up some accessories, including the Moto 820 BT headset. I chose this one at the recommendation of my VZW rep, who admitted she had not used the 850 for any extended period, but made her recomm. based on the ease of navigation with the 820.

Please offer up any accurate comparisons, advice, point me to reviews, etc.

Also, have put headset on charger, but not yet attempted to "sync" with phone. Any hints, tips, advice, would be greatly appreciated.

I know, this stuff is all here somewhere, but I'm so burned out from doing the phone research I would really appreciate some help in deciding whether or not I chose the right BT headset for me.

I have the 8100, and I'm also in the market for a new car stereo. So here are the questions for you all:

If I get a stereo with an AUX input, can I plug directly into the AUX from the phone to play MP3's? I realize I'll need an adapter plug to go from the headphone jack to the AUX input, but will this work?

What happens when someone calls, will the MP3 playback stop so I can hear the phone ring?

Is there some kind of splitter that would allow both a headset AND the connecting cable to be plugged into the phone at the same time? (So I wouldn't have to switch back and forth.)

Also, does LG make a cradle/car charger for this phone? I'd like something the phone mounts in, not just a plug.

Feedback would be appreciated.

Wwhizzard when you posted your family guy episode they were only like 9 mb.
I know you said you use the Imtoo program. What were your settings?
I used the settings somebody else had posted and I got a 110 mb file, granted the quality was much better but I don't care about quality .. I want quantity.
