LG VX-8100

I received my USB cable off of E-bay today. While using I notice that my phone is charging off of it. Is this a common occurrence? In addition, I was just wondering if this is safe for the phone/battery to be doing this? I don't think that it would hurt, but one never knows... What does everyone else think?

When I get the update, do I still need to change the extension on my mp3's to qcp so that they will play?
Do the songs go on an internal drive or only on the mini sd?
if on the internal drive, how many songs (approx) will it hold?

first of course the good news - I got the update today and the mp3 player works great!! And I can even keeps playing after I close it and I can use the buttons on the front of the phone. Those of you that said you can't do these things with yours better go back to the store! Then when I got home, more good news! The data cable I ordered for the phone was in my mailbox!!!

First, the data cable they sent me was the wrong one. It says it's for a vx3200. Well, my daughter has a 3200 and it doesnt even fit her's. Is there a stereo bluetooth that works with the MP3s? As well as the phone audio. This would be great when walking not to have the wire bouncing all over me!!

Bluetooth 2.0 (1.2 if not) so that stereo bluetooth headphones will fully work

Even better Contact management (transfer notes, addresses from Outlook to compliment the phone numbers)

Anyone know how to set the phone to automatically pause the playback when an incoming call comes in?

I am so excited to be able to use the 8100 as a modem via a Bluetooth connection, not only can I connect to the internet with both my computer & PDA at speeds double that of dial up but I can now fax from my laptop from any where that I have signal. This is all without haveing an aircard!

I don't post much here, in fact, I post very little. But I do come here everyday and read everything that goes on in the "8100's world".

I just HAD to come here to say "THANK YOU" to A-L-L of you who contirbute and have contributed to everything about this phone; info, advice, and etc.

I FINALLY got the update a couple of days ago and I couldn't be happier with my phone! I have two 8100's (mine and my g/f's) and BOTH phones took only 30 mins to update!!! (15 mins. each)

The MP3 player works great! In fact it seems as if it has breathed new life in my phone. Surprisingly, it also seems as if my battery lasts longer because it seems I can do so much more with it than before w/o it going dead. Ex. Listening to the MP3's,...

Does anyone have a working copy of the VX-8100's manual? The .PDF on the LG site comes up as invalid.

I'm trying to evaluate the phonebook functions before I purchase this phone.

can anyone who has gotten the software update tell me if they can use an mp3 as a ringtone?

i have the e815 and have enjoyed sending SMS messages to be ringtones. Will this work on the vx8100

I just bought a e815 because its a functional phone right out of the box...now that the update is out i might want tgo switch because, i like how the 8100 sounds looks and feels.So, This is the tie-breaker...does the update work well, does it make the phone fully functional. thank you for your help!

So I got the update on Saturday...awesome...but took way too long. They quoted me 20 minutes but it ended up taking 2 freakin hours! Oh well.

Anyways, when I go to format the mini sd on my phone and then put it in my pc, when I click on the folders I sometimes get an error message saying its corrupted or read only. So I would not be able to move mp3s from my pc to my card. Then I tried formatting the mini sd on my pc but get a message that the format was not complete. Then after that I formatted the sd again on my phone and it would then be fine and I was able to move the mp3s to the my mp3 folder. BTW, I made sure the the little write-protect tab was "unlocked" on my mini sd card.

Before the update, my battery would usually be down to 1 or 2 bars by the end of the day, which didn't matter to me because I charge it everynight regardless. I even tried out the theory of using the SD CARD drains it faster, and in fact, it seemed to.
Anyway, since the update, my battery seems to be lasting much longer! I took it off the charger about 8:00 a.m. (SD CARD in), have talked a lot (I'm am a women, afterall) today, watched Family Guy, Seinfeld, and even played some MP3's and a little bit of Jamdat Bowling 3D and it is now 6:00 p.m. and I still have 3 bars!!!!!!!!!!! Unbelieveable! I didn't realize the update dealt with the battery too, but evidentally either it did or I just got lucky.

1. Is it possible to download any other games to this phone from other places "outside" of VZW's GIN service?

2. If so, do you know of or recommend any good mobile phone gaming sites? (besides the well known JamDat)

3. Anyone know of any good games PERIOD to download (including ones on VZW)?

I just bought the 8100. And is there a way to cancel the lady's voice that says "Verizon Wireless" every time you push the send button to call someone?

When I load mp3s into the "My MP3s" folder on my card, some will play and some won't. I shortened the file names so that's not the issue. It's weird because whole albums won't work. I'll drag the Coheed and Cambria album over, it works perfectly...a Rancid album, no go. What's going on? Is it a file problem?

Lately my mp3 player has been skipping on certain songs. it didnt do this about 5 days ago, but now it does. It sounds exactly like an old school discman skipping. I wonder if my memory card is failing. Can these things be defragmented??
