LG VX-8100

Ok Guys...I tried hard not to post this question being it has posted over 100 times. I've looked in PhoneScoop and well as Howard Forums. Tried drivers from LG and from the CD that came with my USB cable from eBay. Also bought a mem. card. Downloaded BitPim 0.7.35, not detecting my phone cause of the driver. I have XP Pro. Under Device Manager getting Unknown device under Modems and Ports. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong? By the way, I have the vx8100. Please Help guys without flaming..... 🤭

I live in Greens'boring', NC (Greensboro) and I've called every Verizon store around here asking if they have it or not and all I get is: "The phone is too new to have an update" or "No, we don't have anything like that here." On top of all that no one in any of these stores believes me when I say that an update was released.

Is there anyone here on this site that lives ANYWHERE in the state of NC who got this update?! ...cause I WILL travel to go get it...

Has anyone able to pull the antenna out after the update has been done? 😡

does anyone know if you hafta get a special set of headphones to fit in the jack, because normal headphones don't fit.

I don't know what I did--guess I was playing around with the menu, service code 0000000 and now now my phone doesn't have any signal bars, 1x or EV symbol, and there is a slash over the phone icon. The phone says FTM Mode on the screen.

I'm finding little fixes everywhere...

With auto delete on the phone does not display "memory 100% full" when you get a text message. (I know it was stupid but annoying)There is a little moving envelope with an incoming text.

In the ringtones folder the play button is the OK button instead of the left softkey and the ringtones loop when playing (I told you they fixed little things)

MP3 player enabled as we all knew! I think you have to have a memory card though, it only plays from the card from what I gather... unless somebody says differently.

There is a status light option now under tools/display. I don't know if that was there before. I am not even sure what it does but mine is on. *shrug*

Ok, if my mailbox is 100% full, how many more texts will I be able to recieve after that? Seems like everytime its full, I'll still be getting texts! 🙄

I got the 8100 and a MINISD card (1GB). I can put MP3's on this card and then onto my phone?

I was looking through the menu and when I did the "ok" ...0000000 I found some extra features in the phone. LG must have put these features in the phone without VZW knowing. I noticed that all VZW employees in the stores as well as the customer service reps answering the *611 calls all where phones on the sides. LG enabled a feature to allow its customers to send a 12 volt charge to the VZW employee of their choice. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH revenge is sweet!!!

Don't know if this was posted yet, but just called the Verizon store on G Street and they confirm they have the update. Going over there now to check it out for myself!

I don't know if it's a coincidence or what, but twice now after I've connected my phone to bitpim (the 7.35 version), I have had trouble using the phone afterwards.

On Wed night I used it and I got no service Thursday morning on my phone. I went to make a call and it just sat there saying "calling" but no ring no tone nothing through the earpiece, as if the phone was off, and it never connected. Same thing happened last night. I used bitpim and afterwards I couldn't use my phone at all. I tried the web and the same thing. I got the message "call failed" when I went to make calls (after sitting there "calling" without any sounds or connection.

And I noticed right after using bitpim, the "verizon wireless" banner would disappear...

I visited the Verizon Store in Times Square, the guy said Verizon had sent out an email not to give the update out anymore because there is a problem with it, something with roaming. Anybody else hear that?

This may have been discussed but has anybody had any problems with their inbox that when they click on it, the phone resets?

I went to the Verizon store in Times Square upon calling to confirm they had the update. When I get there the employee proceeds to tell me that Verizon had just sent out an email NOT to install the update since it apparently has been causing roaming problems with the phones. The guy still is going to install it on my phone but I'm assuming the email that the update as bad and to not install it was sent to all Verizon stores. I HATE VERIZON.

How is the overall volume and reception quality after the update??
