I just returned from getting the update. Had it done at:

I haven't played with it much yet, just got home. I did see the new software version T81VZV04 was installed, and it did give you the option to disable the "disco lights". I did not have any mp3 songs on my 512MB card, so I couldn't test that yet.

Can anyone tell me what I need to store then play MP3s on the 8100? This is all new to me so I am really a newbe. I believe I will need a cable (what kind. where) a card (what kind. where). With the above can I just load them on to the card through the phone? I'm just guessing here. Do I need something else to load the card and then put in to the phone?? I got nuthin here. 🤣 Thanks.

I just got the flash done at my store today. It works money. Took about 2 hours just cuz I had a bunch of things in my phone that it had to save then rewrite.
1. It did enable the mp3 player. I allows it to be played with the phone closed. I have 1gb of memory. I put on a few songs to try and it worked beautifully.

2. So far, the volume problem is fixed. I haven't had any issues at all with the phone, but like I said I just got the flash done so we'll see as i continue to test the phone.

3. The phone does not reset when going into your text messages, this was happening to mine and it was very annoying. So far so good. Thank god this firmware came out.

I think I may have a problem with my phone but
I am not sure. When ever I make a call right before the party i am calling rings, i hear three short tones, it also happens the second i answer an incomming call.

funny thing is i dont remember this being there when i first got the phone. I have not updated the phone yet.

Anyone had similar issues or know what may be going on?

I was just told by a tech that the update is in in Rochester, NY.

Today I downloaded the newest "unofficial" release of BtiPim that has the VX8100 listed.

I connected to my phone via bluetooth and easily imported my Outlook contacts to my telephone.

In addition I also made a ringtone from a mp3 through bitpim very easily. No manual labor just chose the ringtone tab and imported. It did some conversion and then on the screen I was able to shorten the length of the file (like play 3-30 secs of song).

Piece of cake.

Only issue I did see is that if you erase a ringtone it does not move it from the "list" that you have to do the old method of erasing the dat files I believe

I found a issue with my phone. If I set my phone to use a downloaded audio ringer and have my phone set for silent mode and i receive a text and open it. My phone may display its in silent mode but it will still rings. But if i use a ringer that came with the phone no issue, works just fine. Has anyone had this problem?

Does anyone know if it's gonna be able to play mp3's as ringtones?

I'm sure this has been discussed several times. I'm @ work right now and can't really look through all the posts though.

Where can I purchase a data cable for this phone? I don't see one on Verizon Wireless's website. There is a "replacement" data cable on LG's website, but it specifically states that it does NOT come with the software. I guess, like it says, it "replaces" an original that was lost.

Also, will the cable that's in the Mobile Office Kit (which, again, I do not see available on Verizon Wireless's website) serve the same purpose as the data cable (sorry if that's a stupid question)?

One last thing, I just got the update yesterday and was wondering if the cable is even what I need to download MP3s to my phone... 😕

I'm about to get the update. What do I need to back up before I get it done? I have a memory card.

i was wondering what format do vids and music have to be to transfer them to your sd card?

Called my local verizon store (Greensburg) today and the tech there seemed to indicate that verizon doesn't have any such update to this phone yet (ya right). I am willing to drive a bit to find a store that does offer this upgrade if anyone knows of one.

How about support for AOL IM? It has MSN/Yahoo built in but not AOL.
