i talked to a techie on the verizon help line and he said that you wouldn't even have to go into your verizon store to get the update... that they do it through they're computers and that all you ahve to do is just rest your phone by dialing *228 and it would take care of it when ever the up date comes out... which will be within the next few days.... so save your self the trip and just stay home.

Can I change the disco lights??
I know this is really cheesy but when someone calls me the only colors that light up on the outside are pink and purple but when I receive VM I get a bunch of colors that light up. Does anyone know how to change the settings so when I receive a call all the colors show up not just pink and purple? Or do I have a prob. with my new phone? Thanks for any help!

Update is out in Long Island (Suffolk County) i just called a verizon store and the tech said it is out

PLEASE USE THE SEARCH FEATURE!!!!!!
I am not sure if a lot of you are aware of the search feature at the top of the page. I mention this because I see the same questions being asked over and over when all one simply needs to do is enter a term there. If you put in the words Modem, WAP, Bitpim, or FTM Mode you'll get a list of what has been posted on those subjects. Apparently, me and many others here don't mind answering questions but it's likely that its been asked and answered several times already 🙂

It will enable the use of Mp3s as ringtones and perhaps the mp3 itself. thats what i was told from a VZW assistant manager

When you connect data cable for Bitpim/QPST, is your phone charging?
This may be a silly question, but when I connect my phone with the cable and use Bitpim, my phone will say it's charging. Is this normal and is it actually charging, or does it just say that because something is plugged into the charging port?

Anyone been able to find a nice case for this phone??
I have already dropped it once 😢 and I don't want to scratch it up any more. Has anyone found any nice cases? I have looked on ebay and google and have only seen a couple of the those neoprene pouches. I would prefer a case that stays on while using the phone. Anybody have any ideas?

Car Charger--Odd Problem!
I am going to return the car charger I purchased for my 8100. But I just wondered if anyone else had encountered this. The first time I used it in my car, it worked fine. The second time--it did not work due to a blown fuse. No problem--just replace the fuse. Well, darned if as soon as I plugged in the charger, the stupid fuse blew again!!!!!!!

Logitech Freedom Bluetooth Headset
Anyone have success with this bluetooth headset and the 8100? I'm staying away from Motorola headsets because they have poor sound quality (I don't care if you own one and you disagree), and I just tried my bt800 which I'm selling. It's too flakey.
I've found the most positive reviews on the Logitech, the consensus is good sound quality, functionality, and comfort. But does it work with THIS phone?
Other than that my choice is the bt250v. I've heard it works well with the 8100, and I already know that sound quality will be top notch. But one guy on this forum mentioned how it stopped working for him and he went through two of them.

update for the vx 8100
i just got off the phone with a vzw tech in georgia and he said that they are aware of an update to get the mp3 player working and nothing else, he also said that it should be out by the end of the year. im going to call my local store here in baltimore to see what they can tell me.

DIsplay theme/menu colors
Is there a setting I am not finding? I want to change the menu colors (the bars above and below the actual wallpaper) from the default red to something a little more inline with my wallpaper. Maybe something blue. I just picked up the phone this morning and the manual is at home, not in my office with me. Any help is greatly appreciated.

8100 vs sch-a950 coming out soon
Hey! so I just looked at pics of the samsung sch-A950. It looks like it's gonna have all the goodies of this lg (the design is almost the same) but it has an ipod type scroll wheel on front and an internal antenna. I saw the FCC reports, and the last date on anything there is 5/23/05. I assume that these take about 7 months from the FCC date until we see them in stores. Does this time frame seem correct? This would come out in Nov. My NE2 runs out in october, so I'll probably be getting the LG, but if anyone has any info on the a950 release date, please let me know. Thanks.
