LG VX-8100

A couple of questions:
1- Are all the SD cards the same?
2- If you only have a handful of MP3's, do you still need the card?
3- When using BitPim, QPST or DataPilot, do you need the card or can it be uploaded to internal memory?

Due to continuous frustration with my local store I called customer service that passed me to their tech group. The tech guy I talked to was not aware of the fix however unlike most cust. reps I delt with in the past he actually sounded like he wanted to take responsiblity and assist me. He went ahead and contacted a couple stores in my area to find out if they have the fix. He came back with the same sour taste I do when talking to my closest store and said that he will pass on that the store has a very poor customer service tech department. Im recieving my new 8100 in the mail Friday and i just wanted to know if the phone holds Voice or True ringtones?? Ive been getting mixed answers from the Verizon Store.

In my region, Georgia, no firmware updates for the 8100 have made it to store technicians. Just keep asking your store techs.

Does anyone know of a Verizon store in the Los Angeles area with the update ready to go?
(Preferably on the west side?)

I called *611 and when I asked about the update they tried to refer me to LG, stating that they don't deal with the updates. Am I getting $#!+ed on?

The software update is actually created by LG engineers to VZW specs. Asked what it would fix and got blown off. Told me to wait till it comes out. 😡 😡 😡

Okay I just did my * new every two* with verizon and ordered the 8100. I haven't received it yet but I see it shipped yesterday. I had no clue about all these problems and I am bummed. Do you think they put the software into the phone before they shipped it to me?? I would hate to have to hassle with all these problems especially the volume problem.

Did all that recieved the SW update retain all of their memory? One of the stores in my area said they have had the update for a few days but are running tests on the floor models trying to get the update to NOT erase the memory.

Just wondering if anyone else has been playing with wallpaper sizes, I think the front LCD size should actually be 212x220 to cover the whole screen, 176x220 if you don't want the bars on the top and bottom of the screen to cover the picture.

Got word back from a tech i know!!!!! Next week!!!!!!!! is the official release! And no I am not posting the store number becasue he doesn't need 50 calls and will just tell you it is not out anyways, The person who posted the 8/22 thread is dead on, i haven't found it in infocenter but i have known my source for a while and it is credible! I am excited this is the first actual news i have heard about the update in my area!

I checked with my VZW store and its not here in VA. Tech says the update wasn't on the current approved device list either, but she did say that they usually get the list in on Monday evenings. 😛

It enabled the MP3 player. Reduced the echo in my bluetooth headset. Completely eliminated the fluctuating volume in the earpiece.

It did not fix the camera delay or the brightness issue.

NOTE: It did not disable any of the bluetooth capabilities.

I've seen fluctuating numbers as far as how many Mp3 you can put on this phone without an added card. I've heard it has 512 mb but that seems a little large for a phone. Can anyone tell me?

ok i have just came home from looking at the new razr phone from verizon and altough they said it couldnt be done...they did ... its as thin as cingulars and it has bluetooth and vcast and my favorite part NEW CHARGING PORT.. the port looks like a usb plug that your digital camera would have the little weird shaped box 😳 plug and it was a working model not a dummy phone its supposed to be out this xmas!!!!!!! 😁
