LG VX-8100

I bought it over the weekend, and decided I don't really need it. I am going to return it this weekend, but thought I'd see if anyone wants to buy it from me. I don't think it's available in every store, so in case you can't find it, you may want to buy mine. I'm not selling it at a discount though, since I plan to return it. So $50 (same price at store) and $5 shipping, anyone interested?

I have a question... if I put new rings in to my ring tones folder and delete my_ringtones.dat and another file, then new ring tones are found after restart and those files are created again. However, if I put pix to My Pix folder \Brew\16452\mp and delete those same two files that make ring tones work, the pix are not visable on my phone.

any ideas what to delete under dload to get the pix working from phone? So far I had to take some pix with camera and then replace those files with mine and that seamed to work... but then I have to rename them using phone and I just want to be able to put the pictures as they are.

I could have sworn it was 8pm not long ago, did they just change it? I like Verizon's service and have been with them for several years, but this just sucks. Cingular is 7pm!!

Any suggestions on which ones work the best with this phone? My operating system is XP and I have Service Pack 2. Looking for good prices but even more than that looking for compatability. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Can the BitPim connect using Bluetooth? or can data be transfered to the phone using BT?

I found the 8100 on Amazon for $199 - $50 - $150 rebate PLUS only a 1 year contract. I had to get stuck with a contract but hate even more to pay for a phone.

p.s. I ordered it on Sun 8/14 and it hasn't even shipped yet, so don't be in a rush....

hey i have a question. i havn't had a chance to read the whole forum. but the q is this. can you customize ur ringtones to mp3's on ur card or the internal mem? i have an audiovox piece of garbage. can't customize tones unless they are purchased. if u can let me know it would be greatly appreciated.

oh one last thing who can give a good close to accurate date for VX-8100 release? i need to save my soul from this audiovox garbage.

Ok so I called the VZW store and asked about the 8100 Update. She said there wasnt one out yet, and she doesnt know when one will come out. I was wondering if anyone else knew anything different since she sounded really stupid, I called the VZW store on the other side of town. I asked her if she knows when the update will be available, she put me on hold, came back and told me its already available! Im afraid to get my hopes up because she didnt sound like she knew anything either. But I get off in an hour and a half and I will be driving all the way across town to find out. I'll let you all know..

Is anyone here a phone Slapper? I mean when you have a flip phone and you shut it, you slap it shut. I see people do it all the time and wonder if the phone has a shorter life because of it. Someone I work with slaps the phone shut, and in fact seems to really take pleasure in it, and she wonders why the screen goes out and stuff doesn't work.

Smoking - why is it that smokers seem to feel they are entitled to unlimited breaks at work? Is it just the addiction? I am addicted to phone technology, but I don't demand to leave work once every hour to check phonescoop. Why is flicking the cigarette out of the car window or onto a sidewalk a rite of passage? Do they think there is someone out there with a broom picking these up or do they...

According to the LG website, a feature of the 8100 is "night mode." What is this? I've scanned the menus and cannot find anything about it.
Also, is there anyway to set the phone to vibrate and ring? My Nokia (rip) would do this, but I don't think the 8100 does.

Hey all, after some serious research, the LG-VX8100 was the phone for me. I've had it for about a day and a half, and let it be known that it is such a substantial improvement over my x105 and T-Mobile service that you really can't compare them in that they are apples and douchebags. I'm in the Phoenix Metro area and have found the speakerphone is decent while not perfect, the graphics and menus are set up well, the pictures and videos are fantastic (and they transfer to other phones very well), and I'm just very pleased with it so far. The E815 almost did it for me, but I figured I really wouldn't use it as an MP3 player because my Dell DJ 20GB does all that shtuff. If anybody has a weird Verizon Wireless story, shoot it over my way...I...

I finally exchanged my 8100 for a new one at a local VZW outlet, after having 2 defects. At first, I had troubles with the phone ringing when in vibrate mode, and more recently I had my pictures all erase. Anyway, the rep there was really surprised I was having issues with the phone. He said that my phone was the first returned to the store as defective. I was pretty stunned to hear this, but I believe it considering I got a brand new phone instead of a refurb for my exchange.
