LG VX-8100

Ok, I was poking around in the service menu some where and I changed something and now on the main screen, it has the wallpapaer and in black letters it says FTM MODE.
the phone doesnt take or make calls.
Can someone help me bring my phone back?

I have taken the battery out, waited and put it back in and restarted already...no good 😲(

when I'm on a call and I go to turn it up, I have found that I typically hit the up arrow key so much on the outside of the phone that it goes from low to high then back down to low.

If I take the phone from my ear and look at the setting as I adjust it so as to make sure its on high. I never have trouble hearing people.

Also, my wife complains that she can hear me breathing through the phone. The other day, I posted here saying that a ditzy tech support rep at VZW told me to turn the master volume down and the earpiece volume up. She also warned me that having the master volume up could blow the speakers on the side. How that could happen is beyond me...their huge!

Is anybody else having issues with the camera in the closed position? When I take a picture with the phone in the closed position, the picture does not save and continues to display "Please Wait" indefinitely. You must open and close the phone to reset to normal. This is the second phone I have had this issue with.... exchanged once before.

I work in custcare. I've had no calls about issues with the phone. But I think the reason behind this is cuz not many people have it!

My phone will ring when its on sounds off or vibrate

Sometimes the call vol will go up and down

I do get the ??????? txt messages

Bottom line there are issues. They will be fixed. I dont know when.

There has not been any updates to any VZW worker about these issues. So if they say they havent heard ne thing they mean it. The only reason I know is because I have the phone.

im sure that most of you by now have figured out how to save songs and videos in their respective folders on your memory cards, (like My_Sounds and My_Pix/Flix), in order for your phone to recognize that they are there and be able to play them. And im sure that most of you have seen the error message "Voice Memo Not Available" when you hold down the voice button while your phone is closed.

with that said, think through this with me. what if our phones are programmed to recognize that files are there only if they are in "certain" folders with "certain" names? obviously this is true because if you just save your files to a memory card and dont put them in the correct folder, your phone wont "see" them.

Okay guys here's the deal. As a longtime employee and a long time LG User I felt I needed to set the record straight. Obviously everyone is very disappointed that the mp3 player has been suppressed on the phone, myself included. But those who have stated that this is something that was done by VZW out of corporate greed are very much mistaken. If making money were the only reason that the player is disabled, then why is VZW offering at least two new phones with fully functioning media players???? The new Samsung 970 not only has a working player, but it has the ability to play files from the external flash memory! I returned mine today - I suggest everyone who can does the same. Its the only way the problems with this phone will get attention.

I was told by verizon there is a software update for the LGVX 8100 it fixes the VOLUME PROBLEM and a bunch of others i guess something with the pictures i havnt had that problem

i was wandering if anyone had access to that update and how to apply it and all that good stuff my state wont have the update in there computers for another week

So I just hooked up my phone with the bitpim for the first time last night, and was having a field day moving over "my sounds" and files from www.mp3rintones4u.com to my ringtones. I didn't do too much, just added about 7.

Anyone know how much space is available for ringtones? When I go to "manage memory" under settings, I have only used 3577kb out of 28649kb avail. I think it may have been mentioned before, but I thought maybe the avail memory was different for the various features like ringtones, pix, etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

hey i've been reading over the posts and i had a few questions. my number one question being was buying this phone a mistake. two, is there a ****in mp3 player or not, and if so how can i play music files garunteed. three is there a fix for the volume. let me know i'm supposed to get it tomorrow. thanks - joel

how do you get big video files on your phone when you cant save directly to the card and your phone memory is limmited?

I PERSONALLY TALKED IN PERSON TOO 3 STORES IN MY AREA AND THEY ALL THEY THERE IS A SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THE LG VX8100 AND WILL BE IN THERE STORES READY FOR UPGRADE NEXT WEEK FOR SURE

The rep told me there are no known issues with the VX8100. LOL

I referred her to this site. Too bad she said she only has "limited" access to the internet. I told her to check it out when she got home. lol

I can't believe the disconnect between the different reps, LG, Verizon and what we read on here.

She also said there is NO update for the phone as of right now. She did tell me that MAYBE other carriers such as Cingular had an update...I informed HER that Verizon is the only carrier with the 8100. Her response? "oh".

I think we could all take their jobs, honestly.

i got the usb cable off ebay and connected the 8100, 7000, and 6100 but i cant get bitpim to recognize any of them. Is there any special way to do it or any special instructions. THX

So I tried freeringtones.net and it's $8 for a "lifetime" membership. It said it was compatible with verizon but I didn't see the 8100 listed. The 8000 was listed, so I figured the 8100 would work too. So I downloaded a polyphonic one and I guess it sends a pix message to the phone. Problem is, it asks for option to save and only as my sounds. So of course, since my sounds can't be moved to my ringers, I'm pretty much screwed. Oh I hate how you can't use my sounds as ringers on the 8100 but you could do it on the 8000. I bought the data cable, but I don't want to mess with bitpim or qpst. Is ther any way to get around that and be able to move my sounds as ringers? If not, I guess I'm SOL.

Any help would be appreciated!

It seems everyone in this forum likes to point out when they see an ad claiming that the LG VX-8100 has a built in MP3 player. What I don't get is that no one (that I've seen) has mentioned that this very site (phonescoop) claims that there is an mp3 player. Take a look.
