Custom Ringtones

Not sure if anyone has posted this yet.

All you need is a data cable, a sound editing program and bitpim version .0735 i believe(its an unofficial release)

Basically cut about 20-30 secs or whatever of the song you want and save it as a cd quality. Then open up bitpim and connect your phone to your data cable. Check the settings and make sure it's set to the 8100. Then click the add and browse to the song you cut and click open. A convert screen should pop up and all you do is set it to stereo (2), 22500 khz, and 48 on the quality and leave it as an mp3 and then press convert. Two DOS prompts will come up no need to worry. Then once it's done with that click ok (you might have to drag the title bar up a bit to view the ok but...

LG VX-8100 horrible standby battery performance!

I just got a new LG VX-8100.
The phone is rated for 6.8 days (163 hrs) of standby or 3.8 hrs (225 min) of talk time.

So far I get about an avg 15 hours of phone use before the phone shuts down over each of 3 days evaluation. I have had less than 1 hour of talk time during each of these 3-days. Each prior night I have fully charged the phone approx 8 hrs. If I don't use any talk time (ie just standby), the phone will go about 24 hrs before shut down. The display "on-time" is set to less than the defaults.

As a comparison, using a Motorola V710, I can go around 2 days before even the first bar is depleted (3/4ths charge meter) under exactly the same operating condition and location.

I have now tried 3 different batteries and the ...

New LG for VZW

Anyone hear anything about any new LG phones along the lines of a successor to the 8100? Don't get me wrong the phone seems great, and with the new found MP3 capabilities it seems sweet. The only thing is that new 2 megapixel cameras are making there way into the market and I'm guessing LG should be quick to it. Also, myself and some other people here (ive read) are not to crazy about the look of the phone, i.e. blue color (faceplates?), and top heavy shape. I'm a huge fan of LG , I have to have verizon service, and love the features (camera, video, MP3, etc.) I'm currently on the VX6000 and love it, but I need something new, and will be willing to wait on a newer LG phone. Any info would be great, thanks.

Problems! Problems! Problems

A word of advise to everyone here, I returned my 8100 for the E815 and I'm very Happy I did, everyone here should do the same. The E815 blows this one away as far as quality and reliablity goes.

making vids play for more than 1 min 40 secs

i got the data cable and all the s/w on my computer. i am able to put music vids on the phone via bitpim, and by conveting them using mpeagable x4. the actual song plays the whole time, but the vid stops at 1 min 40 secs. i don't have a sd card yet, maybe thats the prob, but don't think so. also if any one had luck making the video play on the whole screen using mpeagable. i tried using image processing and setting the display dimensions 176 x 220, which i think is the size of the 8100 screen. any help appreciated

THE MP3 PLAYER WILL BE ACTIVATED!

Exciting news for all of you vx8100 owners! I just talked to our regional Verizon rep yesterday. He told me that the mp3 player will be activated in a future update. He didnt know if it would be in the next update for sure but he did prove that an update enabled it. He handed me his phone (an 8100). I hit the play button on the outside and it played!!!!!!!!! I almost creamed my pants.

In other words, there will be an update for the mp3 player, but he did not have any date for me yet because the software update is still being tested. I'm hoping its in the next update though!

I called Datona Beach Fla. and.....

They knew nothing. They actually started selling the 8100 3 weeks ago and here I thought Ohio was last to receive everything.

I went to Verizon site/store locator

Daytona Beach - Store (2 miles)
2475 W International Spdwy Blvd Ste 300
Daytona Beach, FL. 32114
(386) 226-8000

If they are testing it that is still cool. Remember how impatient we were about the release date for the 8100.

Another volume problem, but this time no sound at all, anybody else?!

Just wondering if anyone has had this problem. I used my phone to make 3 calls yesterday, and all 3 times I saw that it was connecting, but there was no sound at all. As if I wasn't even making a call, no ringing, no connecting. But I had to turn off and on the phone and it worked fine after that. The person I was calling told me that their phone rang but nothing was on the other end when they picked up. I don't know what the heck happened. This is the first time I've had the problem since I exchanged for a new 8100 about 3 weeks ago.

NEW UPDATE? GIVE STORE ZIP CODE OR PHONE# 4 CONFIRMATION!!

Too many people are claiming to have the update and there is never a way to confirm this. So the plan I suggest is that if you have a VZW update for your phone then please give us the store location, phone number, or zip code. That would end all doubt. Thanx.

Everyone says to go to Phonescoop

I don't know about everyone else here but I have been hoping that someone somewhere will come up with breaking news on exactly when this phone is hitting the stores. But it appears more and more that the only people in the know are right here on this site and since they too are anxiously awaiting the release of this phone, we might as well just sit tight and wait until they [exuberantly] post its release.

What prompted this thread was the local authorized Verizon indirect who, when asked if he had any news regarding the release of the phone, replied: "Check phonescoop.com". I suppressed a smile and walked out.

Im also stuck in FMT MODE!!! Please help me!!!!

I was trying to fix a problem and got stuck in this mode.

I tried:

1.) powering down completely.
2.) taking battery out and back again.
3.) reseting all the settings.

4.)
1. go into the secret menu
2. go to 7 FCC Test
3. select any of it's menus (1 thru 3) it doesn't matter which one because all of them will work, just don't change anything in these menus
4. hit the end key
Your phone will automatically restart itself in regular mode. I know this works because I do it all the time. There are several other ways, but I find this to be the quickest and easiest.

These 4 methods do not work for me!!! any other methods? Thanks!

To Play MP3s on phone....the Simple Way

To listen to MP3's via the "My Sounds" menu is easy. You don't need special software or usb
cables.

I'm not sure how to use the so-called media player or how to make ringtones to use with the phone. But here are some easy breezy steps.

Required: vx8100, Mini SD card, card reader, and you freakin pc.

1. Take any MP3's you have...and using your computer...change the file extension from ".mp3" to ".mid".

2. Load these to the card in the appropriate "my sounds" folder.

3. Pop the card in the phone and roll.

Its not a very cool solution but it works.

You can also send files in the with the ".mid" extension using your 10 digit [email protected]. The file has to be under 350kb. It will hit the phone as a pix message. ...
