I'm at work and have my cell phone on my desk while I'm working away quietly.... my phone is in silent mode birds are chirping outside and all (get the picture?) and RING RING RING!!!!! What the heck? I had to double check after wards and I even had the little silet icon in the bottom left hand corner. So, my phones rings in silent mode now too? Great. I still love my phone but... c'mon verizon.

Anybody having this issue? We wait so long for these phones to come out and verizon says it's because they're doing "testing". Did they forget to test that? Silent mode?

Also, did they forget to make a test call to see if they can actually HEAR the person on the other line? What sort of "testing" exactly?

Ok I finally Figured out how to Organize the SD Card.
This does not put them in folders, but arrange in the Order you want!
The phone arranges them as Newest files first, So
I found a program to change the Date Modified stamp.

1) Download FileDate Changer (http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/filedatech.html )
2) Extract Program, and Open Up
3) Drag the Files you want Last in the "Filenames" box.
4) Change Created date and Modified Date to an earlier point. (Say 5/4/05)
5) Hit Change Files Date

Then Repeat this step for every sections of videos you want,
(Just remember to keep the files you want up top at the most current date)

Since my last post on this board regarding the current set of glitches plaguing the LG VX-8100, I’m sad to say that there’s still no software update at this point. The tech guy that I normally talk to is on vacation, and no one else at the Verizon stores here locally have any idea as to when the update is going to be released. I’ve heard everything from one week, to three months, so until it actually happens, it’s going to be a slow go of it. I would recommend everyone who owns this phone and is experiencing problems to call the national “Level 2” tech support line for Verizon at (866) 788-9387. Although they couldn’t give me any more information than I already have about the software upgrade, they were very polite and “in the know” so...

ok, I just wanna know the best place (other than ebay) I can get the usb cord and software to be able to set mp3s as ringtones. Dont feel like searching. Thanks guys 😁

If you happen to have a USB datalink cable, know how to use P2P or Bit Torrents you are all set.
I've been using Bitpim 0.7.35 unofficial version, its link can be found here within this forum and MAGIX ringtone maker e-version.
Theres no need to convert your music files either it does it all for you. Make your own custom ringtones and add MP3s with ease.
Using Bitpim I have added a host of wallpapers and pics as well with no problems.
Just thought I'd pass on a good combination of software that can be used to customize your phone.

Just got off the phone with senior tech at LG. As I stated once before, ALL the firmware/software is VZW's. They strip the phones and re-program all. Do you think a major company like LG, selling phones to all major carriers, wants a bad rep. All phones are well tested before VZW gets them. If they tested bad, they would have gone right back. You're talking big money. They might be greedy, but no stupid. BT is a LOCATION problem. It emits the same signal for all phones. Two phones, both with the same headset, 1/2 mi apart, react differently. I was told this by LG, VZW, Scala, Motorola and Jabra. One clear - the other static. I am in NJ and never had a static problem with Jabra, Moto, Plantonics or the Scala. I guess, the more towers, the bet...

anyone else have trouble installing the usb data cable with windows xp? i can not get it succesfully installed. i downloaded the proper drivers off of the lg websight. Am i doing something wrong?

Called a tech that I know personally that works for VZW he said although VZW is aware of the problems that people are complaining about, there is NO update eben in TEST mode yet let alone out for the general public. He also said that he knows 11 people that are friends of his that have bought the phone in this area...Rochester NY...that have had NONE of the probs that are common on here.

Moral of the story move to the ROC or at least buy a plane ticket and come and buy your phone here.

With most items that have a battery, I know the recommend you fully charge before using the item. Does this truly matter unless it is something with a NiCd battery in it? Just wondering because I got my replacement bt250v and I remember it saying something before about fully charging it. Now, I know sometimes you have to calibrate the battery charge, but can't you drain it down all the way then charge it back up and keep on like that?

Does software vary by location? I am in NJ. My software says :T81VZW01 - Location: 911 only - NAM 1. Is everybody else's the same? Phone works fine, BT fine with Moto/Scala. Jabra/Plantronics-Voice command horrible after 3 days. Swapping units, NG immediately. Never CW to work with any headset. VZW checked hardware and software and say fine. Getting blown off on the BT issue?
Is the BT signal the same for everyone? Everybody seems to have a BT problem. The Scala works perfectly for me but not for Mary. Some with the Jabra are fine-some don't work. I know location can vary - but not all these problems. Some have volume problems - some don't. WHY!! Trying to make some senxe of all of this.

OK, so I know that you can take several 15 second clips, but does anyone know how to mke the recording length longer. It only makes sence that if you can take, let's say, 10 - 15 second clips, then why can't you take 1 - 150 second clip. Anyone know if this can be changed???

Ok. I just got back from the verizon store, and a rep was talking up the MP3 player in the 8100 to some poor ignorant customer. I interupted and said that as of now, only hacks will make the mp3 player work, and that the front buttons wont work either way. He said he's never heard of this, and that the mp3 player works fine out of the box. Does anyone here know of a good lawyer that can muster up a lawsuit against verizon for misrepresenting their products? I dont have hard evidence, but I'm tempted to go back to the store and take a short video clip of him telling other customers this (which can conveniently be done on my phone). If I (and other people as well) did this would this be enough to sue them? I'm really pissed off about this an...
