getting an 8100 in october...update necessary?
once my contract with verizon ends in october, I will be getting an 8100 or a samsung a970 (depending on the reviews it gets once it comes out)...quick question for anyone who might know - now that the update is out, will it be necessary to get it for phones purchased from now on, or will verizon install it on them before they are sold? sorry for the dumb question

sd card locked and cannot write
i have the sandisk 256mb card and unlike most people i'm using a mac. i formated the card in my 8100 in order to create the folders. when i put the card in my reader, it will not let me write to the card. it says i can only read. can someone please help me with this. i just got the software update and want to use the mp3 feature. thanks
movies not playing after converint them to 3g2?????
i converted an episode of sout park using mpeagable, and the size is alot smaller, i have a 512 sd card, and when i put the movie to My_Flix folder it looks like its on there, but once the card is in my phone i can't see anything, the movie is not even on there. any help appreciated.
Cutting an Mpeg movie to prefered time!????
Does anyone know of any good (free) software able to take an Mpeg movie and cut the time down? i.e. a 20 min movie to 10 minutes??? Thanks đ

After Update lost Custom Ringtones
My custom ringtones loaded via bitpim were gone in the menu to choose your "all call" sound. However the files where there in the directory. Also my pairing was lost.
However I repaired my phone with my computer (Bluetooth) and erased the *.dat files and resynced the custom ringtones and now they are back.

What is going on with verizon??? I just spoke with a Coordinator in the Business unit (after calling *611) She told me that in the Midwest the update has not been released yet and they don't even know if they are going to release it here. I asked her why would they release it in every other region but not the Midwest and she said she would not know that answer. What is wrong with verizon that there would be such a disconnect between regions?? I guess I am just missing something. Is there anyone in the midwest that has gotten this update and if so where are you at? I'm thinking bout hooking up my horse and buggy and going for a trip.

Updated software but camera delay now
I had the update software loaded into my phone after work, it fixed my silent mode issue, but know my camera has a serious delay. Whats up with that.. Anyone having the same issue? đĄ

Weapon - One more question
listening to mp3s that are renamed to .mid in "My Sounds" produces a rather low volume when using a plug in hands-free. Is there any improvement in volume with the upgrade? Thanks!

Will the update allow you to make your own ringtones?? That's what Santa Monica store claims.
I went to the Santa Monica CA store at lunch and they said the update will be available in about 2 weeks. The tech and 2 customer service reps knew about the update and said it would allow you to play mp3s of the SD card and allow you to make your own ringtones. I read on other threads about the mp3 player, but I don't know what they mean about the ringtones thing. Maybe they mean you can transfer my sounds to my ringtones or play ringtones off the SD card?

I was told that Meriden CT had an update, but it only updates the menu speed?!? I never knew that was even a problem, lmao.

Disco Lights Can Be Turned Off
The update allows you to turn off the disco lights. When you go under the display settings you will see a new option at the bottom called status lights. I still can't believe how many people complained about them, or even worse returned the phone because of them. Too bad for them now. Enjoy.

This seems to work and they play on my computer, but when I transfer the file to my SD card and pop it into my phone, the file will show up in "my flix", but will not open or play. It just shows "0:00" for the time with a blank white screen. Anyone know what is happening here?

After 30 days....
I've had my 8100 30 days and I've noticed there is a memory issue with phone. 1st is with the flip closed, use the camera function and take a picture. Sometimes it works, most times it says Please Wait circling forever. You have to open and close the flip to get it back to normal. I exchanged it out and the new phone did the same thing. Same day as I got the new phone, I went to do a voice recording. Before I even started recording and just sitting idle on the Press OK to record screen the phone saved. This new file is 0 kb in size and cannot be erased, moved, renamed, or played. Any clue on how to remove a ghost file?

Quick question:
I just bought the $9.95 stereo headset for the 8000 (works with the 8100) from Verzion. The sound is Amazing! My problem is this. The volume of the headset. It is very loud from the speakers. When I plug in the headset (set the headphones volume control at max) The volume is not that loud....
Is this a phone issue or a headset issue? Thanks!
