LG VX-8100

ok i've tried 3 different hs850's, even the black japanese version, and they all suck. why? because if you have your headset on full volume (so you can actually hear the caller) the microphone picks up the sound, so the caller on the other end hears an "echo" of there own voice. You would think that moto would think ahead about that, but i guess not. plus i am getting way too much crackle out of this thing... range is ok, and battery like is amazing, but all that is useless if the dang thing wont perform well.

I’m truly sorry you all had to learn such a painful lesson regarding the 8100. I want all of you to wipe the tears from your eyes and know that in the future you can be happy with your cellular phone. Now I don’t like to shout but I want everyone in the back of the bus to hear me. THE NEXT PHONE YOU SHOULD BUY IS THE MOTOROLA MS550. I understand that some of you guys can't hear at all on the 8100 and it still a decent wait for the 550. Go get the E815 to tie you over.

1.ok ive tried the video conversion to 3gp and have been succesful but i have one question, i emailed myself a 30 second video and it worked but longer ones did not. Will i be able to get higher memory videos on the sd card??

2. how do i rename mp3's to put them in the ringtone or the sond folder of the phone to listen to them because today i saw an 8000 play mp3's from the front buttons without opening the phone, it was done with bitpim or something using the data cable, but since the 8100 doesnt have an tunes folde like the 8000 does i dont think it will work from the outside.

verizon told me not to charge my phone over night my last phone i did for a few days and the battery lasted almost a day in a half should i do the same or listen to these stupid reps

Having had my 8100 for two whole days now, I am wondering what everyone else is doing about two relatively minor issues.
1. I'm such a klutz 🤭 --forever dropping things, including my phone! Do you keep yours in a case? If so, what kind and where did you get it? (I looked at my Verizon store--they have nothing, not even an 8100 yet! And the website seems to have only pouches, which I don't much like.)
2. I've never bothered with insuring a phone before. But . . . this one is a bit of a step above my old Nokia 🤣 🤣 Are any of you swinging for the extra $5/month (as if VZW doesn't wring enough from us!!!)?

Anyone got detailed instructions on how to use bitpim and QSPT?

Here is how to enable BT DUN. I have not tried it yet, but should work.

And change from Disable to Enable.

I do not have a BT adapter for my Laptop so can not test it. Let me know if this works.

sorry ...a noob question..

So today my phone decided that it didnt want the sound to come out of the earpiece anymore. I have to either connect a headset or use the speakerphone to hear people on the line. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Has anyone had any trouble transferring some small video clips (when converted to 3gp) to your SD card and not even showing up on "My Pix" folder. I tried 6 of them and 1 only showed up on the phone??? ☹️

Has anyone come across this before. Some converted MP3 in the 3g2 format show musical notes bouncing up and down. If i do a full screen of it the player locks up with no volume, stop, FF etc control. At that point i have to hit the end button to return. Anyone else having this issue and what can i do to fix it???

i got tired of trying to get mine to go into extended network even on my 3rd phone that i tried through a verizon store so i sent both mine back and went back to my 6000 better signal and it goes to extended and there both digital only maybe later ill try them out again

(I posted this as a reply to an earlier thread, but figure I'd start a new thread to make sure it wouldn't get lost in the mix)

So I received my Scala 500 on Monday and have been interchanging between the 1)Plantronics M2500 2)Moto HS850 and 3)Scala 500. Sorry for the delay but I wanted to test the 3 of them thoroughly. Here are my thoughts:

1) Plantronics 2500: Best clarity by far. I have used it several times and have heard no complaints on the other end and my end is loud and clear. Of course, the earpiece goes into the ear a bit so that is probably why, and the extended boom mic also helps. But this is definitely the bulkiest of the 3 and least attractive. The controls are also a bit cumbersome (I have a hard time getting it to tur...

Pros: EXTREMELY well-built, the best vibrate feature out there, (limited) bluetooth and miniSD compatibility, nice screens, nice stereo speakers, menus well-designed, read txt messages without opening phone
Cons: Camera is terrible, speakerphone is mediocre at best, earpiece volume issues, numerous software bugs, some of which can cause rebooting and freezing...and more!

First of all - if this phone truly met its potential, it would be the undisputed king. Nothing would even come close. Sadly, that's not the case.

Second of all - if you have this phone and have problems like what I've described - CALL OR WRITE TO BOTH VERIZON AND LG. You can do so on the Verizon site...

I have to tell you, the 2nd lg is going back. I have gone to the other side and after playing with it for the last 3 hrs, it has been a good phone so far. I need to stress the word phone...I make calls, I receive calls, I hear calls, no dropped calls, no anoying feedback from speaker. I may get the lg next year after updates, but according to lg, they are not aware of the problems even after many of people have contacted. Most verizon reps act surprised as well. I just can't wait for the updates, I needed a working phone now. I don't know what the future holds for this one, it may be a dud as well, but look at the cost, oh there was no cost it was free as opposed to the extra $50.00 I paid for the lg. I din't was to jump ship, it was a nice ...

So far I love my 8100--fruity lights and all--and have had none of the volume/reception problems several others have encountered. However, I have hit a snag with the mini SD and playing music. Following Mary's advice

Go to "My Computer" on your PC then to tools, then to folder options, then view, then make sure "hide extenstions for known file types" in UNCHECKED.
Then download all the mps's you want onto your desktop, right click on them and rename shortening the name of them then add .qcp (taking out the .mp3, your computer may tell you that by changing to this they may be unusable, just ignore this-press ok). Then click and drag the newly named songs from your desktop to your MY sounds (which should come up when you put your mini ...
