Help with ringtones

With my old 7000 I could chop an mp3 down to 20 seconds, rename it .mid and send it in a pix message to my phone to make free ringtones. I can almost do this on my new 8100 but when I save the sound file on my phone it goes in the "sounds" file not the "ringtones" file. Anyone know an easy workaround for this? I searched quite a few posts and couldn't find it. I'd rather not buy a cable or flash card but will if i have to.
Thanks

VX-8100 Issues

🙄
I just got off the phone with a CS rep from LG and she said that the camera and the ear piece Volume issues are glitches with the first round of phones that were released. She stated that I should go back to VZ and replace the phone and the one that I will get will not have the issues.

Has anyone done this yet? What was the result?

Adjusting Contrast!?

Is there any way I can adjust the contrast on the inside and outside screens? Can't seem to find it. Thought it was odd that it didn't have that option! 🙄

hacking the phone

I know some of you might get annoyed at me for asking this, but does putting custom ringtones using QPST really work? Whenever I read instructions on how to put custom ringtones on the phone, people always say "do this at your own risk" so I wanna know if your phone got messed up in any way after hacking the phone.

I paid full price for my 8100 and my 15-day trial period is almost up, that's why i'm being really cautious cuz I don't wanna ruin the phone..

I was just wondering if anyone has a good ways of getting mp3's on to the phone, and being able to listen to them. Also does anyone know of a free converter for my video files.

BT Headsets - Recipient Hears Echo

Working from home today, I have been on my cell phone a lot. A few calls have been with a co-worker, also a Verizon user. His phone is a couple of years old, but works well.

During our conversations he kept complaining of an echo on his end. He hung up and called back, but still had the problem. On our second call, I asked him to hold while I shut off the BT headset - Moto 850 - I was using and transferred sound to the phone. The echo on his end was gone immediately. This was the first time I had experienced this problem with any of the headsets I've been using.

On our next call, I switched to the Cardo Scala 500. He said I sounded fine, and there was no echo at all. However, I kept getting static on my end - especially if I mo...

manual

I think it is poor judgment to:

1) not include a printed manual and
2) have such a limited user guide on-line

What were the managers thinking? So many details on using the phone is not inlcuded. We are forced to review other's experiences to figure out how to use certain features or days to figure it out ourselves if ever.

Start Calling and/or Emailing...

Well, well, well. I have emailed LG about the issues with the phone. I have called Verizon as well.

The first email I sent to LG was about a week ago and they said there were NO known issues with the 8100, but they'd look in to it.

Today, when I called Verizon, I was told that the ONLY phone calls they had received about the 8100 was about the "MP3 player".

Verizon tech support told me that they can only put out a trouble ticket if it's a network issue. They said that LG would be the ones to issue a software update. I just sent another email to LG.

I think it would be a good idea for everyone who is having problems to contact both LG and Verizon. These companies won't be able to fix the problems if they aren't aware of t...

Esp. for Mary and Wheresmyphone: I LOVE this phone (& this forum)

When I received my 8100 last Wednesday, I was scared to activate it after reading of all the troubles some people had with it. But on Friday I did, and so far--great! Yesterday I purchased a mini SD card and adapter for my laptop. Today I was so frustrated because I couldn't seem to get the music to work. But, Mary, thanks to your great directions (which I re-reread), I discovered that I was trying to copy rather than drag the files. Well, guess what? Now I am happily listening to my Dave Matthews and Coldplay while I grade papers and play on Internet--listening through my phone. And they (the music, not the papers, sadly 🙄 ) sound unbelievably good!!!!!
Thank you guys so much for answering my questions and assuring me that I ...

Bluetooth Hands Free Question

I have my 8100 paired up with my Chrysler (via UConnect) and it works great, the only thing I noticed is that when I receive a call it will ring on my cell phone first then come through the vehicles speakers a second or two later. Is there a way to set the phone so when it is connected via bluetooth the ringer on the cell phone will not play?

Thanks for your help.

SOMEONE IS LYEING!

Okay I went to the store tech support to get my camera delay fixed and the tech support representative told me that ALL VX8100 HAVE BUILT - IN 1 sec camera delay 😳 Then he opened up brand new vx8100 and we took some pix with it and IT TOO HAD A DELAY.......

So if Mary424 claims that her vx8100 doesn't have a delay and tech support rep at Verizon store says ALL VX8100 have a delay that means someone is lieng...

I dunno who I'd rather believe: a tech support rep at Verizon store or some person posting on a forum...

Got a new phone, no volume problems so far!

Hello,

I posted a review of this phone in the reviews section and my major gripe was the volume problems. Well I went and traded the phone in for a new one and so far it works great. I did a lot of testing today and have no major complaints. Hopefully, it stays that way. Great phone!

Some of the reviews are LIES!! How many??

I really think all the reviews are getting rediculous on here between the 8100 and the 815. You all have to realize many are probably fabricated. I would like to point out something to you.

HP PSC1350 and the MiniSD

I don't know if anyone has tried this yet, but I just remembered my printer/scanner/copier has an SD slot, and it shows up in my computer as an external hard drive, so if you have this, you may not need the Card reader/writer.
